Terrible Service, Mediocre food, Noisy dining room, not recommended at all. I wish I could give them zero stars. The Mint Restaurant is located in the basement of a 5-star hotel, and the bar itself truly is a lovely and unique space. First and foremost, it is a beautiful place--warm lighting, elegant décor, and a sophisticated atmosphere that immediately sets high expectations. Unfortunately, almost everything that followed fell far short of what a 5-star experience should be. From the start, service was certainly not 5-star. It took nearly 5 minutes just to be acknowledged at the entrance, and then 25 more minutes before a server came by with water and basic greetings. The staff overall felt indifferent and disengaged--very disappointing for a place that appears to pride itself on luxury. One of the bright spots of the night was the live music. The piano player was genuinely excellent, a real talent and a pleasant surprise. That said, the room itself was extremely noisy--perhaps due to the architecture or acoustics--making it almost impossible to hold a conversation. The sound bounced around so much that the music, while wonderful, added to the overall loudness rather than enhancing the ambiance. On the positive side, the cocktails were lovely. We ordered the Paloma and the Pisco Sour, and both were beautifully prepared. We actually would have stayed longer and ordered more if the service had been even remotely attentive. The menu is extremely limited--no real food options of substance. My wife ordered three appetizers and asked to receive one first and the other two when my main course arrived. Instead, all plates were brought out at once, completely ignoring the request. A not so funny part is that I ordered a Caesar Salad without croutons and they brought it with extra croutons. I didn't return the plate because the server never returned to the table to check on us and because, "you know what they say regarding returning food to the kitchen"...... I ordered the lamb chops, and for some inexplicable reason, the kitchen (or the runner) divided the dish into two plates, serving half to my wife and half to me. I ended up eating both portions anyway, but the whole situation felt strange and unprofessional. Worse yet, the lamb chops were hard, not tasty, poorly presented, and not warm. My best guess is that the food sat in the kitchen too long before being brought out. For the quality delivered, the experience was very expensive for mediocre food, and nowhere near the standard suggested by the setting or the hotel it belongs to. Overall, this was a very bad experience, and I truly cannot recommend it, especially when Dublin offers so many fantastic dining and cocktail options that deliver far better service, food, and value. read more

I want to rate them well, since they are obviously under new management. But we aren't off to a good start. We got here a few minutes after 2000. I Guess they are finishing up the grand opening. The set up area told us to go to the bar to get the signature drink. He told us no. Under no circumstances does he do mixed drinks. The bartender from that area came to the bar to make us the signature drink. Even though they are done and ready to go. It was very good and worth waiting for. He was a good soul. I am staying at the Weston Dublin and the Mint Bar is in the Basement. I have been coming every night and here are 3 reasons why: 1. Amin, the first bartender to take care of me, and every one after, have been fantastic. Great energy, good temperament, has a servant's heart and wants every guest to have a great experience. 2. The drink he recommended, The Mistress, is now probably my favorite since I have begun traveling. It is female-friendly and consistently prepared. The presentation is also beautiful. 3. They go the extra mile. I needed a pen and paper, Amin gave it to me, no questions. Paulino in the Mooreland Grill upstairs brought me better wine than was being given complimentary, on the sly, and even the lounge and the concierge are helpful beyond the ordinary. Don't miss out on the Westin Dublin, Paulino at the Mooreland Grill and Amin at the Mint Bar, as he was my introduction to my experience at the Westin Dublin and he set the tone for professionalism and excellence, which continued throughout my stay with every one in the hotel. After a long wait the waitress came to take the order. I ordered the cheeseburger with fries. The cheeseburger was terrible. Did not taste good. The fries were hot and fresh. They were very good. In my time in Dublin this was the only place that I did find on yelp and that was completely disappointing this was nearby motel I went over and all of a sudden I am fortunately got a bartender who was just not in a great mood he took forever to make the drinks and it wasn't even busy whatsoever when I axed for the rose martini he told me you would have to use rose syrup because they didn't have any fresh flowers and of course I had axed for modelled roses Ajax for lavender or violet and he said there was no fresh flowers on site at the moment That's unfortunate so he does his best to make and mix my drink And then I see him use the straw and taste a bit of my drink And when he places the drink in front of me I am completely shocked because the martini glass did not give me a full martini that I was paying €18 for The bartender never axed me if I even liked my martini he never talk to me again it's up to the man next to me who I was speaking with and I told him that my biggest pet peeve is when I order a drink and I don't get the full amount He noticed it as well. Hmm. It's gotta be said, for a five star hotel, this place sure does let itself down a tad. Arriving in a desperate post-flight post-stress post-life state of mind, my accomplice and I were ready and primed for a bit of food and some deliciouso cocktails. As we arrived at 10.25pm, we had literally two minutes to order our food before the chef packed up his knives and headed home. Fair enough so. Ordered swiftly, and the food arrived just as swiftly. I ordered a pecan and apple salad with all sorts of other lovely ingredients which was delish. Now for the cocktails. The server who brought us our food also brought us our cocktail menus. After placing our order for the food, he said he'd be right back to take the order for the cocktails. He wasn't. Waited for 20 mins until a second server walked by. We asked him if we could order cocktails. He said he wasn't able to take the order, so he'd send someone else over. 20 mins later. No cocktails. A third guy came over, and we finally managed to order our cocktails. 10 mins later. Do you see where this is going? No cocktails! A third server came to clear our plates and didn't know where our cocktails had gone. So we canceled. Had they retreated to a fuzzy land where only cocktails are allowed? A VIP Cocktail Haven where Manhattans rule the roost and Cosmos are the lovelies? I guess we'll never know. Mint Bar, honestly, I don't think I'll be back. The Westin is a swanky hotel on Westmoreland Street, opposite the Bank of Ireland. It's very grand indeed - I think they make porters stand outside the door in silly outfits just to let everyone know how darn grand it is. I've never had cause or cash to check in here but I have ducked into the Mint Bar in the Westin's basement. The Mint Bar (rather the MintED bar) was a bank vaults in its former incarnation so those who like the smell of money naturally wind up here. The bar is dark and uber-trendy. Trinners graduation parties often make their way here. The cocktail menu is exciting for enthusiasts and they claim to do the best martini in town though I haven't tasted every martini town has to offer so I just can't say (yet!). As Melanie says, maybe it's a nice place to pop into for one drink if you fancy treating yourself and your mates to some special, exotic concoctions in stylish surroundings. The Mint bar is cool, swanky and a great spot for cocktails. Located in the downstairs part of The Westin hotel on Westmoreland St, it's a little on the pricey side, but well worth a trip. The last time I went was after a big Leinster game and while everywhere else in town was MOBBED, the Mint Bar had a great atmosphere with out being too jammed. There was an ultra cool jazz band playing and while the bar is quite fancy, they were dressed casually and had no fuss surrounding. At the start, I thought the girl was doing karaoke until I saw the band surrounding her! That's how low key it was. I hear the Friday night salsa nights are great fun and the mojitos are yummy. I went salsa dancing with three friends on a Friday night. The place looks amazing. Mint Bar is in the basement vaults of what used to be a bank and with the architecture and decor you can still see the original design of the building. The bar in the center is a nice touch and easily accessible from everywhere. Plenty of bartenders, which was a welcome change to the usual. There are little snug-type corners where you can stash your jacket or sit and watch the better dancers when you need a break. Ladies, if you like dancing at all feel free to show up without a partner. The walls are lined with Latino men and I have found that salsa nights are generally nice for females--you can dance with a different guy each song without any pressure to hangout or talk afterwards. Everyone is there to dance, after all. I dont know much about salsa dancing but all I do is try to move around kinda sexy-like and usually the guys will lead and you catch on really quickly with the spins and steps. Maye I look like a complete idiot but it's a ton of fun. What I didn't like about the Mint was that it was excessively HOT down there. Even though the ceilings were decently high, the place was roasting and not well ventilated. Also, the bartenders had a hard time understanding drink orders. Lots of mess-ups and shouting accompanied by hand motions and spelling in the air. I dont know if that is just the loud music or they were just idiots but I was hoarse by the end of the night. I went here for a friends birthday party and although it is not my usual type of stomping ground, don't think the women here in their designer shoes would dare stomp those expensive heels, I actually enjoyed myself. The ambiance is quite relaxed and up market. Lots of suits and pretty dresses and high heels and polished shoes! I was really impressed with the cocktails, they are made with love and effort which makes them taste great but means it takes ages to get your order! Anything would of been better then this place! We found a table and after about 15mins someone finally came to get our drink order. We ordered food right away knowing that they probably wouldn't be back for a while if we didn't. I got the fresh cod cakes in panko crumbs. They tasted like they came frozen from some company. My husband got the beef burger. As soon as he picked up the burger the bun crumbled completely apart and just looked discusting! I felt bad! The Mint is a fantastic place if you are a connosseur of mixed drinks or want to really impress a date/boss/client then The Mint Bar in the stylish Westin Hotel is for you. This isn't a walk-in-off-the-street bar. The Westin is home to The Atrium, The Exchange as well as The Mint. You have to know about this place to find it but once you do, you'll be impressed. The Mint isn't a cocktail bar staffed by cocktail bartenders who make cocktails, its a cocktail bar staffed by well trained mixologists who mix fine drinks. On my first visit, I ordered a mint julep with sour mash instead of bourbon and the girl serving me didn't even bat an eyelid as she made my drink (which was fantastic). I have to admit though, to get this quality of service and product, you're going to pay for it. The average cocktail costs €12.50 and a pint is about €6. The staff and management are friendly and courteous and the place has a nice relaxed atmosphere. Recommendations: Friday night salsa where the whole croWd is latino. Absolute Mayhem! read more

I am not sure that I would go out of my way to come to this bar if I weren't a guest in the hotel. However, we checked in the evening of New Year's Day, and given that it was pouring rain, we decided to give it a try. the decor is somewhat interesting (I believe the space used to be the vault of a bank), but the service is truly poor. We waited more than 10 minutes before a server stopped by the table to ask whether we needed food or drink menus, and another 10 minutes or more before we placed our order. The food also took ages to come out considering the restaurant was not remotely busy. However, we ordered the lamb burger with goat cheese and caramelized onions, and it was worth the wait. I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food. I wasn't crazy about the drinks, but if I find myself back at the hotel, I may very well return for the lamb burger. read more

The Mint Bar is a bit of an unusual spot in Dublin I think. Tables go fast and are often booked - so its not the best place to come if you are looking for a place to sit. Firstly I have to confess...I've never been to Mint Bar except for Friday night salsa...but that night is genuinely fun and definitely worth a look (as long as you don't mind a mid- to high sleaze factor from some of the worthy gentlemen who frequent this great establishment). Downstairs in the relatively posh Westin Hotel, it's the last place you would normally expect to host what is one of the few remaining salsa nights in Dublin, and the range of loyal customers who keep on coming back, who come from all corners of the world. The bar itself is quite cool, inhabiting former bank vaults (which are sadly empty these days...though I'm assured they were empty before the recession too) and a large bar centrally situated separates the always packed dance-floor from the seating area...which has a tendency to become a dance floor itself on occasion, and actually hosts some of the better dancers anxious for a bit of elbow room. Although the music can sometime denigrate into what passes for bad Quinceañera music, it does tend to be fairly good, with some Shakira and Daddy Yankee proven to be the ever-popular floorfillers. The drinks are on the expensive side, belying its actual situation, but its a genuinely fun night and something a bit different in a city that worships at the alter of the more socially cool sounds of Britney and Kings of Leon... read more

I regularly visit this place during night outs with friends it is a great venue with a great atmosphere. Small groups and larger groups can co-exist, due to the layout of the place. Essentially pub-grub, but with a little hint of class. Also, the cocktails in here are worth every euro! You really get what you pay for, none of the glorified fruit-juice stuff that gets passed off as cocktails in many, many other Dublin night spots. The Mint is a great place to go early, get some good seats, eat some nice pub-grub snacks, and enjoy some of the best cocktails Dublin has to offer. I highly recommend the mojito. I usually go here at non-traditional times. Sunday afternoons, Saturday evenings (not nights) and early weekday evenings. Ive always found it to be a fine place. The food is nice and the beer is good...but the place itself is lovely looking, vaulted ceilings, large square bar a lovely lounge section.
