    Terrible Beef Burger
    Clem M.

After a long day on a tour decided to grab a quick bite at the Mint Bar located in the Westin. The service is terrible, I actually wouldn't call it service. After a long wait the waitress came to take the order. I ordered the cheeseburger with fries. The cheeseburger was terrible. Did not taste good. The fries were hot and fresh. They were very good. I wouldn't recommend on a Saturday night.

In my time in Dublin this was the only place that I did find on yelp and that was completely disappointing this was nearby motel I went over and all of a sudden I am fortunately got a bartender who was just not in a great mood he took forever to make the drinks and it wasn't even busy whatsoever when I axed for the rose martini he told me you would have to use rose syrup because they didn't have any fresh flowers and of course I had axed for modelled roses Ajax for lavender or violet and he said there was no fresh flowers on site at the moment That's unfortunate so he does his best to make and mix my drink And then I see him use the straw and taste a bit of my drink And when he places the drink in front of me I am completely shocked because the martini glass did not give me a full martini that I was paying €18 for The bartender never axed me if I even liked my martini he never talk to me again it's up to the man next to me who I was speaking with and I told him that my biggest pet peeve is when I order a drink and I don't get the full amount He noticed it as well. And I took a picture of it just to show that I'm not crazy when I pay €18 for a drink I expect to get my drink Especially if you're a mixologist you should know you're going to fill my drink Our bartender told the guy next to us that his name was Alan we are ready here in a nasty little attitude for the rest of my trip I won't be back Open till then everything I don't my experiences in Dublin have been nice and service has been wonderful and friendly and I have been satisfied with everything that I did insane up until this point not saying that he ruined my chipper anything but it was noticeable his lack of caring And this could have been avoided this negative yelp head he just came by and axed me what I thought of the martini but he never did know until he handed me the bill and on the receipt it had the audacity to ask for a tip And I distinctly wrote next time fill my drink! I would've left the tip no problem and I probably would've stayed and ordered more But that's not what happened in this case

Service was slow. Kitchen was busy... I can understand that portion of some just had updated me and not left us hanging. Sat there for one hour 25 minutes to get a drink an hour to get an order of wings

Hmm. It's gotta be said, for a five star hotel, this place sure does let itself down a tad. Arriving in a desperate post-flight post-stress post-life state of mind, my accomplice and I were ready and primed for a bit of food and some deliciouso cocktails. As we arrived at 10.25pm, we had literally two minutes to order our food before the chef packed up his knives and headed home. Fair enough so. Ordered swiftly, and the food arrived just as swiftly. I ordered a pecan and apple salad with all sorts of other lovely ingredients which was delish. Now for the cocktails. The server who brought us our food also brought us our cocktail menus. After placing our order for the food, he said he'd be right back to take the order for the cocktails. He wasn't. Waited for 20 mins until a second server walked by. We asked him if we could order cocktails. He said he wasn't able to take the order, so he'd send someone else over. 20 mins later. No cocktails. A third guy came over, and we finally managed to order our cocktails. 10 mins later. Do you see where this is going? No cocktails! A third server came to clear our plates and didn't know where our cocktails had gone. So we canceled. Had they retreated to a fuzzy land where only cocktails are allowed? A VIP Cocktail Haven where Manhattans rule the roost and Cosmos are the lovelies? I guess we'll never know. Mint Bar, honestly, I don't think I'll be back. The Exchange in the front of the Westin is a hell of a lot more on par. Now for a martini...

The Westin is a swanky hotel on Westmoreland Street, opposite the Bank of Ireland. It's very grand indeed - I think they make porters stand outside the door in silly outfits just to let everyone know how darn grand it is. I've never had cause or cash to check in here but I have ducked into the Mint Bar in the Westin's basement. The Mint Bar (rather the MintED bar) was a bank vaults in its former incarnation so those who like the smell of money naturally wind up here. The bar is dark and uber-trendy. Trinners graduation parties often make their way here. The cocktail menu is exciting for enthusiasts and they claim to do the best martini in town though I haven't tasted every martini town has to offer so I just can't say (yet!). As Melanie says, maybe it's a nice place to pop into for one drink if you fancy treating yourself and your mates to some special, exotic concoctions in stylish surroundings. Personally though, it ain't my scene.

Guinness of course tastes just like everywhere else in Dublin and totally different from everywhere else in the world including other cities in Ireland!!! I really find this to be quite amazing. And oh yes, I do have beer coasters I have swiped from here - shhhhhh - nothing else, I promise ^_^ Awesome cocktail menu though a bit pricey... a couple of drinks can set you back about €30 or so but they do make an amazing martini. And the bartenders are top-notch - they know their mixology and know how to stay unobtrusive but always just a glance away. Food options seem good here but to be honest, I only stop here for a couple of drinks and to hum U2 songs, much to the amusement of the bartenders here ;) ~ 5 stars - at least 2 of these just because it makes me feel so good - even if it makes me sound like a groupie :D # 236

Nice young bartenders that were eager to learn and excited to be asked how to make an "exotic" cocktail. The layout of the bar needs work. The octagon bar is obviously the focal point but I think it's a bad idea to not have high chairs and tables continue through the bar. At the walls there are couches and it feels like two different concepts in one. Lighting is bad, too bright. Great potential for a great cocktail bar, just revise the interior and maybe the cocktail menu.

There were quite a few people waiting outside, inquiring quite politely and reasonably soberly about getting in. There was no aggression or drunken messes at all. Well the bouncers didn't have a breeze what to do and started spouting crap about it being a VIP club and if you weren't on the list you weren't getting in. This is obviously not true. So they gave up on this approach shortly thereafter and told everybody to queue to the left. Then they said nobody on the left was getting in. I pointed out that they had asked people to queue on the left but the fella denied it. So we gave up and headed up to The Odeon. It was quite bizarre. They were either completely incompetent or evil geniuses that wanted to get rid of a crowd. I reckon it's the former because the only reason to have turned people away would have been if the club was full and surely they would have just explained that. Anyway, won't be in a rush to encounter those clowns again.

They are situated in the base of a sister restaurant, so from the main entrance the only give away is the neon "shhh" sign that sits over the stairway. Once at the base of the stairs an unassuming bookcase/shelf appears. This honestly got us, as we had no clue this was the entrance at first. We wandered around and into the bathrooms expecting some cool bathroom stall entrance. It wasn't until someone came out from behind the bookcase that we figured it out! We did let the "door" close and played with the art on the wall, including the bronze pig head, which turned out to be the hidden lever! Legit already wowed before entering! Upon entry, you are legit transported into a small speakeasy with a few high tops, a cozy bar and a small dining room beyond the second archway. The walls are stone, the lighting is dim and moody, the woods are heavy, and the vibes are immaculate! We sampled a few house-made cocktails, got an appetizer and a few main dishes. Spent a total of close to 2 hours, which is standard and actually timed. Which makes sense and I like, it keeps things moving, on time and allows plenty of time to soak it all in! The Jolly Roger and Espresso Martini were my cocktails for the night. There was a clear theme with both, as stout and espresso were highlights in both. For the app, we went with the fritto misto, which is a combination of fried cheese and veggies. Our mains were both pasta dishes. They were light and simple, yet complex and robust. They were tasty and impressive! Service was stellar from entry to exit. The host's, bartenders and our server were all top notch, friendly, helpful and a joy to interact with!
