The highlight was the hard fry on the chicken for the Chicken Parm where the sauce didn't make breading soggy. I do wish the tomato sauce was thicker and not watery and that the onions in the French Onion Soup were cooked a bit longer. I really wanted to find it within myself to give this tavern a higher rating, but after today's visit, I just can't. We came to The Mile twice within its first year and really enjoyed it. Unfortunately, after a long break from visiting, our recent experiences have been disappointing. On our visit last week, the place felt flat--middle of a Sunday afternoon, and only six patrons in the bar. The bartender and waitress were loudly shouting back and forth, clearly having fun, but it gave the whole place a strange, uncomfortable vibe. Hoping it was just an off day, we tried again today. Sadly, it wasn't. Hardly any patrons, different bartender, but same issue--overly loud and distracting. The food, which was once a highlight, also fell short. I ordered the chicken bacon ranch wrap, and it was honestly the worst I've had in years. To make matters worse, the mayo in the macaroni salad tasted off, and we both ended up sick on the drive home. Oh the Mile... how much I love you and your rough-around-the-edges charm... Originally located in Haddon Township and called The Irish Mile, they moved to Runnemede a few years ago and went a little more upscale. They still retain their dive bar essence, however. Home to what I believe is the world's last pay phone. I get here a few times a year, most recently to watch the Eagles game yesterday with my girlfriend. The man to our left at the bar was high as a kite and reeked of pot, while the woman to our right was about 90 and dumped a bud light bottle into a pint glass filled with ice, took a few sips and left. I'm a major beer lover and I've always appreciated the Mile's beer list. 36 beers on tap yesterday and 17 of them were NJ beers, with a few more from just over the river in PA. The menu is standard pub fare, all decent food but no major standouts from what I've had over the years. The center bar is nice with 360 degree seating, and an adjacent dining room. The staff are always friendly and patient in my experience. Overall a nice, neighborhood bar with great beer and a whole lot of charm. read more

My dad and I were having a wacky Wednesday and were in the mood for a new wing adventure. The Mile has been on my radar for their 75-cent wing special, so we went to check it out. First off, I love the atmosphere and vibe. It has a small town bar and brewery feel to it. They have a really nice tap beer list that includes many local breweries. Glasses were clean, the beer was poured nicely and had a good head, and they were cold, up for that. Onto the wings. Like falling asleep at Gunnison Beach, they were naked and extra crispy. We got honey bbq, hot garlic parm, creamy hot, mango habanero, and regular bbq. By far, our favorite sauce was the hot garlic parm. The fries were perfectly cooked and were great to dip into the excess wing sauces and blue cheese. We enjoyed our meal, especially on a deal this good. The rest of their menu looks good too, especially the burgers. Service was attentive and helpful as well. If you're a local, check this spot out. I've been to The Mile a few times now over the past couple of years and have had a great time on each and every visit. Their beer list is super extensive and features lots of local Jersey beers. They also have a solid can and bottle list and even had Heady Topper on my last visit - a legendary beer that can be hard to find. But beer ain't the only thing The Mile does right. The menu is stacked with apps, sandwiches, pizza, wings, and even tacos. Their wings are some of the best in the area - fried to a golden brown and bathed in plenty of delicious sauce. The fries are hot and crisp. The white pizza is a delicious blend of cheese, garlic and spinach. Get it! The prices are incredibly reasonable. Plus the wait staff is always friendly and on top of their game. The Mile is also a great spot to catch a game as there are TVs located throughout both the bar area and restaurant. What can I say? There is no reason not to go the extra mile and pay them a visit. read more

1st time here. I thought the food and service were terrible. 3 of us arrived around 7 on a Friday no parking in the lot, parked out on the street. Thought it was a good sign. When we walked in, realized the crowd was sitting at the bar. Seated ourselves at a table, waitress seemed overwhelmed. Ordered a beer, French onion burger, and an iceberg wedge. Food arrived, we had no silverware or ketchup. Waited, empty bottle ketchup was delivered. Waited again, only forks were delivered. Finally 1 knife came. Dressing for the salad was pure oil. Not edible. Waitress never came back to the table to check on us. Waved the waitress down for the check. Left the $12 salad on the untouched. Horrible experience, lousy food. read more

When walk through the door, you know you're in the right place if you like craft beer. You're instantly greeted with a wall of 36 signs hanging above oak barrels showcasing what is currently on tap. Prices on drafts are a little on the high side, but I guess everything is expensive right now. The menu had the typical array of bar food. I had a burger (double patty, very good) and my wife went with three tacos (for taco Tuesday $3 each). She said the shrimp and brisket were excellent, chicken just ok. We will definitely be back to try out more of the beer list and the menu. read more

I visited on a Tuesday night, pretty close to closing time. It was quiet, which I like and there were only a few other customers. The bartender was very friendly and provided good suggestions for the beer choices. They have a wide variety of draft beers, with an emphasis on local, New Jersey breweries. I had a few different beers, since they offer 5 oz. pours, which is awesome. I ordered the sweet potato fries, which were your standard bar fries. Good, but nothing special. The new place in town, so we stopped by around 5:15 on a Saturday. The parking lot was full and so was the street. We did find parking and went in and there were a few table available. The bar is very big, so it seats a lot of people. Service was good, but a little slow, however they are new and it was busy. The wings were good, the sauce was very good. The downside was 3 pieces of celery. I don't understand why places are always so skimpy on the celery, especially with 10 wings. Not like celery is expensive. We did ask for more and the waitress brought us plenty. My husband said the roast pork sandwich was very good. I had the chicken salad sandwich, not something I usually eat. However, the fact that it had craisins, grapes and apples in it was appealing. It was delicious, I ate the whole thing. The one thing I didn't like was the "homemade chips" that were on the side. They were horrible. Second time tonight. Wings were fair, not much sauce, so not much taste. I only ate one. I ordered the chicken salad again since I've been thinking about it since the last time, and it didn't disappoint. The guys got burgers which were very tasty. The hangover burger toppings were not so good, burnt pork roll and an over cooked egg. Food was trash. onion rings tasted like the fryer (old grease) Shrimp tacos were super bland. wings were rubbery, I ordered the honey hot wings, they weren't honey or hot. wife ordered the cobb salad, it was premade chicken salad (grapes and crasins) on top of romaine lettuce. This pub just opened yesterday. The proprietors are a collaboration of the previous owner of the Irish Mile, The Apron and the RunningCo. of Haddonfield. They have a parking lot. The lot was full, we parked on the side street. The have a bar, seating area surrounding the bar, a lower-level dining area plus upstairs for special functions. ** Beverages - They have 36 beers on tap, quite a few local breweries are represented. My wife was happy to see that they carry Spiked Seltzer Cranberry and White Claw Back Cherry. We ended up ordering the Cape May Bog Cranberry Shandy and the Weienstephan Hefeweizen, we enjoyed those. Prices were reasonable. ** Food - They have a nice mix of healthy'ish to comfort food/pub grub. They have some "V" Vegan items as well. The prices were reasonable. Buffalo Wings - 10 piece, naked style. The homemade buffalo sauce was fantastic. The blue cheese was okay, I have had better. It just didn't have the chunks/homemade feel that I was expecting. I would order this again. Turkey Burger Sliders - Fantastic. The meat was juicy and flavorful (kind of a sirloin'ish feel to them). The bun, the chipotle mayo (not over-powering) and pickle were perfect. With the accompaniment of house-made potato chips, my wife was full after eating this. E&D Roast Pork Sandwich w/ Rosemary au jus. The baguette itself was great, nice crunch and flavorful. However, the pork was bone-dry and the meat-to-baguette ratio was a little skimpy. I asked the server if I was supposed to get a ramekin of au jus, he brought that to the table. After dunking the sandwich in the au jus, it kicked-it-up a bit. That au jus was fantastic. I think I am willing to give this sandwich another try some other time. ** Service - We expected the service would be slow for a new opening, it was, I understand. Our server (Chris B.) was fantastic. Very personable & good sense of humor. He remembered to bring everything we asked for. Our water glasses were refreshed in a timely manner. ** Pricing - Very reasonable ** Observations/Suggestions/Complaints - I didn't see any glaring kinks. Just off of the bar area is a few stairs that leads to a lower-level dining section. The armchair quarterback in me thinks they should have some sort of sign/embossed plating on the stairs that says "watch your step" for safety/liability. Our table was right in front of the swinging kitchen doors. Each time the door opened, it would hit the chair/my knee. Perhaps the table needs to be moved further from the traffic door. A lot of the people in my group choose to get the wings. A good amount of sauce options! The garlic parm fries are VERY good a little greasy at the end but worth it! The best deal on the menu has to be what I went with which was a pizza and wings for 14$! 10 wings either boneless or bone in and a pizza of your choice! This would have been enough for me to share if the pizza hadnt been so good! Can't wait to check them out again for indoor dining soon! read more

I'm annoyed I haven't tried The Mile sooner! It is adorably decorates in Jersey nostalgia decor, with a few jersey puns on the menu to match. A nice extensive beer menu and some great bar food items as well. They have a nice quiet dining room to the side, blocked off from the bar area. The service has been great the last few times we've gone and the drinks are always tasty. My favorite bar food here is the garlic parm boneless wings. Crispy and fresh. I'd highly recommend the mile. This was our first and last visit to The Mile. A horrible experience in both service and food in every way. We ordered a simple order of onion rings as an appetizer that took forever to come, and then when it did, it was with the entrees. I ordered the fish and chips. First of all, it came with no sauce. No tartar sauce, no cocktail sauce. I waited and waited and waited for a server to come by to ask if they had any. When I finally got a miniscule plastic container of tartar sauce and started eating the fish, it was so bitter, so disgusting tasting that I had to stop and not eat eat them. I couldn't even eat the fries because they were borderline burnt. Then I noticed that my wife had only took like 2 bites of her burger and was done, same problem. And my daughter didn't even like the chicken fingers and fries. How can everything be this bad??? I don't get it... We just wasted $50 on food we couldn't even eat. read more

No taco sauce or seasoning on the beef tacos. Was really odd and made for a disappointing taco. Also tried the cheesesteak taco and the Shrimp taco. The shrimp was the start of the trio for sure.
