Kid Rip's Tavern is a really fun spot with great food, a huge bar, and a lively atmosphere. The food is consistently very good -- the burgers are huge, the fries are amazing, and the crab fries (made with real crab meat) are absolutely delicious... and that's coming from someone who doesn't even like crab all that much. One of the most fun things on the menu is their chicken "thumbs," which are shaped like little hands -- I wish I took a picture because they're great and definitely something you don't see everywhere. Service can be a little hit or miss, but not because the staff isn't working hard -- it's a big place and when it gets busy, it really gets busy, and they sometimes seem a bit understaffed for the rush. That said, everyone is always very friendly, which makes a big difference and keeps the experience positive. They also have a huge bar with several beers on tap, great specialty drinks, and drink specials, so it's a great place to hang out with friends and have a good time. My foodie bestie and I added Kid Rips to our must try list years ago and finally got around to trying it. Parking was a challenge on a Friday night as every space was full and turning around in the back lot involves making a k turn around the other vehicles who are also looking for a spot. We ended up parking down the street and walking over. We were seated immediately, as the bar has ample seating, both high tops and regular tables. My bff wasn't in the mood for a cocktail so we opted for Arnold palmers. Now, I am a HUGE avocado fan and I had heard about their infamous avocado fries so I was super excited about trying them. That may or may not have been the main reason for my visit. The avocado fries are fresh large slices of avocado breaded in panko and fried with a sweet and tangy spicy mayo sauce. I loved them but my bff wasn't as excited. He informed me he isn't a huge fresh avocado fan, so this one is for the avocado lovers. We also opted for the chicken parm rollers which is described as "Chicken mixed with ricotta cheese, herbs and spices rolled in panko breadcrumbs served with house made marinara and shaved parmesan" - they are chicken meatballs. We expected something else and now that we've had them and I re-read the description I'm not sure what we had in mind but it wasn't this. They were just okay. I think if they were placed on a plate with seasoned whipped ricotta and drizzled with pesto it could boost the flavor experience. For our entrees my bff got the chicken strips with the sweet and sassy sauce and I opted for the KO burger. My KO burger was delicious. The seeded brioche bun was buttery and fresh and the burger itself was flavorful. The fries were also fantastic. Fresh cut and sprinkled with a sweet seasoning, I didn't even feel the need to add ketchup or a side of aioli or anything. They were perfect. I didn't try my bffs chicken tenders but the sweet and sassy sauce tasted just like buffalo sauce. Pretty sure it was the wrong sauce but he didn't say anything to our server so that's on us. If you are looking for a bar to hang out and watch sports, get a drink, and have a great burger, I'd recommend this place - but maybe uber there. read more

Whats the step above "dive bar?? Because that's where Kid Rips lies. Some to like, most to not. I knew Kid Rips was over for me when I asked for a straw for my water, which tasted like leaded toilet water btw, and the waiter walked up, and inserted an unwrapped straw directly into my water. Just raw dogged a straw from his pocket or whereever, STRAIGHT into my beverage. The waiter was VERY nice otherwise, but him dropping a straw he fondled with his bare hands, directly into my drink was a bridge too far for me. The next knock on Kid Rips is that although the website SPECIFICALLY STATES that they have a kids menu, they do NOT infact, have a kids menu. In fact, the menu is a bit of a mess. Weird specials, the first like 4 pages of the menu are cocktails, then a history lesson about the bar, etc. One of the options is tacos, but on the menu, it comes in 3 options: pork, shrimp and "burnt turkey." But, on the OTHER menu they give you, it's "shrimp tempura, burnt turkey and cod fish." The Misses actually WANTED fish tacos, but got an enchilada wrap, when she couldn't crack the code of Kid Rips actually having "cod fish" tacos. The NEXT knock was that although they have a monday burger special of $2 off any burger, (except Bison burger), they infuriatingly upcharge to get fries instead of chips. Because there was no *censored* kids menu, LIKE IT IS POSTED ON THE DAMN WEBSITE, I had to upgrade to get fries for the little one. That burger by the way, was ordered medium, and came out within a hairs breadth of WELL DONE. The Misses remarked that the place was dirty, but I wouldn't go that far. It needed some more attention to the sweeping, but it looked clean overall. The food wasn't BAD, it's just not a place I'd be in any sort of rush to get back to. It's MUCH, MUCH more condusive to a night of watching the game at the bar, and I would probably prefer this to say a Millers, depending on how busy it gets, but anything other than that, I'm all the way out. Kid Rip's is a cozy spot where you seat yourself. The place is quite small, so if you're looking for quicker service, I'd recommend sitting at the bar. The bartender was incredibly nice and made a delicious Cosmo (my girlfriend loved it!), but she was clearly being pushed to her limits while a man who seemed to work there but wasn't really doing anything and just in the way, which was a bit off-putting. For our appetizer, we tried the avocado fries with a spicy sauce, and they were fantastic. My girlfriend ordered the fried chicken fajita wrap with chips and enjoyed the peppers and onions in it. I went with the What Came 1st Fried Chicken Sandwich. It was delicious, and the fried egg had just the right amount of yolk without making a mess. The food was great, but the slow and somewhat odd service knocked it down a star for us. Overall, a good experience with tasty food--just be prepared for a bit of a wait. read more

On this particular Saturday afternoon (not prime time lunch or anything - 1:30 p.m. ish), the service was just terrible! Our server was friendly enough, but didn't apologize for the slow service, which annoyed me. As prior, the food was terrific - delicious mushroom burger and grilled cheese. I absolutely loved my (sprinkled with sugar) sweet potato fries (with sides of marshmallow dip and another brown? one). I asked for a spoon for my cup of tomato soup twice. We're not from the area, so we figured we might not get much attention from the staff or other patrons, but it was the complete opposite; it was easy to strike up conversations all around. I've heard so many fantastic things about Kid Rip's that I knew I had to try it. I was jonesing hard for French onion soup and heard that they had some of the best so that sealed the deal and we went for dinner. When we got there, there was about a 20 minute wait, which made sense at 8:30 PM on a Friday night. It was a bit frustrating when another group came in about 10 minutes after we did without a reservation or anything and were seated right away. Again, not a huge deal - there were four of them and only two of us so we figured that had something to do with it. The waitress was super nice and attentive. It's a tavern and so it's not surprising, but it was incredibly loud and not easy at all to hear each other. Once more, not the biggest deal but it diminished the experience. As far as food, we ordered the truffle fries, which were excellent the chicken strips, and the poached pear salad, which were all excellent and huge portions. Ironically, the one thing that I really wanted was the one thing that I did not like: the French onion soup was just too intense and salty. I couldn't finish it which I don't think has ever happened to me. I admit that I was surprised that they didn't at least offer to take it off the bill (I told the waitress) so that was disappointing. Kid Rip's sweet and sassy wings have been my favorite wings around ever since we discovered them years ago. This place is a dive bar/restaurant for sure, but the type of dive Guy Fieri would visit on Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives! The service is always friendly and quick. We never wait long for our food, but the atmosphere is so chill and homey in there we could sit and talk for hours. I already mentioned the wings, but I'm going to again. That's how good they are. I'm dreaming of the next time I'm going to order the sweet and sassy sauce on them. We've had a lot of other menu items too like mini panzarotti's and philly cheesesteak spring rolls, everything has always been tasty. Very disappointing experience. No knocks on the food. Always good. Waited more than two hours for food. Arrived at 530 pm and left at 810pm. Tables all around us were served and out before we even got an appetizer. When I finally asked when the food was coming, the server was defensive and unapologetic. Went here with my son on a weeknight. Parking is pretty tight here. We got lucky and found a spot. This was our first time here. I had to try a burger, it was good. My son got the chicken sandwich which was grilled but he substituted for fried (which means they use homemade chicken fingers). The chicken sandwich was the best, very big chicken fingers. The fries were good but need to be a crispy if you ask me, they were soggy. The sauces they let us try with the fries were both good! I'd eat here again. Want to try more things! read more

So we came in this evening as a party of 5. The server Samantha was awful. It took almost 20 Mins to come over to us, we ordered an appetizer which came out and we had to eat it with our fingers because she gave us no plates or silverware. When we ordered our drinks, my brother in law orders a Surfside lemonade, she came over and said they were out. So he ordered a Strawberry surfside, she came back again and said thst they were out. She said I brought you a raspberry one and my brother in law said I don't like raspberry and she seemed very irritated. When we ordered the drinks they took awhile to come out also. When we finally got to see her we asked her for silverware and napkins. She brought them over and said I only have 3 sets of silverware, there were 5 of us eating dinner. As a server you should be checking in on your tables, she would disappear and we would have to find her if we wanted something. When the food came out, which took 1 hour to come out, my husband food was cold, my nieces tacos were cold and my brother in laws sandwich was cold, which means the food sat back there for a period of time. This is unacceptable considering the time we were there it didn't appear to be very busy. There were empty tables and the bar was not full so there is absolutely no excuse for this type of service. We are local and have been coming here for a long time. Is this type of service acceptable? If so that is fine but we won't be back and as locals we will be sure to make it known around town. Came back here to re-try it post covid. Always thought the food was good but service and beer not great. Today was sorta shocking. We were "greeted" by a bartender who was possibly the worst most miserable server I've ever encountered. And we are bar/restaurant people! She was disgusting from moment one, something about one of the taps not working. Twenty minutes later my drink came. No kidding, she tossed the dishes down on the bar. Yes, she may have been having a bad day, but hey, I pay my heart-earned money to spend today out to lunch and I really resent the paid employee a Choosing to ruin my experience. The owner was present, on his phone for the entirely of our visit, and stupidly allowed his one employee to wreck the vibe of his place. Really unforgivable. Too many bars with better food and beer right nearby, even across the street. I go to a bar to leave my stress behind-not to have a stranger's anger and personal issues make me need another drink. I am writing to express my disappointment with the quality and customer service @Kid Rip's Tap & Tavern. Our last order on Friday night was subpar, despite spending over $60. We ordered a classic cheese burger with fries, a BBQ burger with fries, chicken fingers, and crab fries. Unfortunately, both burgers were missing fries, the crab fries were hard and inedible, and the chicken was overcooked. I called to report the issues and was told that the manager would follow up, but I have yet to receive a call. We have been loyal customers, but this experience fell short of our expectations. Tried it here twice and unfortunately this is just not the place for us. The first time we were told it was a 15 minute wait, we ended up waiting over an hour. It was so hot and there was nowhere to sit, so I eventually sat in my car until a table was ready. The second time, we put our name down (5 of us) another group of 5 came in after and they seated them before us. I asked the hostess why they were seated since we were here first and had the exact same number of people, and she just said oops and so we waited again. The servers was nice but service took forever as well. A table of 8 that came in after us got their food before us. When I asked about that the server said "yes sorry, I had a feeling you were going to ask why your food is taking so long." The food is fine but there are so many other places to get good quality food with much better service and attentiveness. We definitely won't be coming back. read more

I've been frequenting Kid Rips since 2014 when I was living in Barrington, NJ - the next town over from Runnemede. They food is so consistent and tasty. Great bar atmosphere. My only complaint is the noise. It is so loud in there, everything echos. This wouldn't be terrible for a Friday happy hour, but it's no enjoyable for a low key lunch. Keep that in mind when planning to go there. Not a great place if you want to talk, but fun if you want to listen to loud music or watch a game. I'm now residing in Philly, but still stop by every few months to get my Kid Rips fix! read more

So I have been here several times with absolutely no issue. Tonight for dinner I ordered a specialty cocktail which for one, took 15 minutes to come out. After trying 2 sips, I knew I did not like this drink. I told my server who then took it off the table. On the check this drink was listed, mind you a $15 drink. I was then informed by the server and "manager" that they cannot take the drink off due to their "policy". A policy that is not listed anywhere noticeable within the establishment. I just think paying $15 for 2 sips of a drink to then be taken off the table without any sort of notification of this policy is a bit ridiculous. read more

Those chicken nuggets apps are SO GOOD!!!!! And the Buffalo cauliflower bites....well done. I had the elk burger with fries. It was perfect. It's easy to dry out elk when cooking....they didn't!! The roasted beet salad was fresh and if you like roasted beets....you'll like this salad. I had seen Kid Rip's menu online and it intrigued me, so friend an I stopped for some lunch. My friend ordered the Roast pork and I got the French Dip. The true test of any food is "would you get it again?" We both emphatically agreed that the food was delicious and we would order again (after trying some their other dishes, of course). I order the Kid Rip's Old Fashioned and it too was top notch. They used black walnut bitters, that resulted in a rich, complex drink.
