Went to see the bar that overserved someone last year with a BAC of .188 and it was dirty and lousy as expected. We've been coming here for years when it first opened as liquor store 20 years ago. Then they added a small bar, then they broke out a wall and expanded the bar, added karaoke on Saturday nights, a pool table, etc. It's been bought out since we were last here as regulars and they've added even more and an outside area. The liquor store has always had a good selection of wines and beers. We always have the fried fishsticks as an appie but not available today. They're pretty good. I had the steak dinner (9 oz.) with choice of salad and steamed veggies (low carb) which I thought would be soggy and tasteless, but was tasty and consisted of squash, carrots, flat green beans, and a garden vegetable cheese steak with onion rings. We had fried stringbeans for an appie. We checked in to Yelp and got $5 off! The owner was really nice about it and chatted with us a bit. This is your basic "dive" bar (my favorite), which just basically means your neighbor bar with regulars. It's nice enough to bring the kids and sit at one of the tables for lunch or an early dinner. Wide screen TVs, plenty of bar room space (but fills up quickly), pool room, bands, and karaoke night couple of times a month. If your drunk and hungry when you leave, there's always BoBos Chinese (great takeout, another longtime staple) and WaWa located in the strip mall. The waitresses are real sweet and work hard. Tip them! The food is your basic bar stuff with lots of Mexican choices. They serve breakfast as well to soak up the booze if you tend to start early in the day. Nothing to write home about the food, but a wide selection in the offerings, cheap, and someone in the kitchen uses seasonings. "The Pub" is a bit of a local guilty pleasure of mine located just south of Browns Mills. At first glance, one might assume it's just another local beer/liquor store, but one would be wrong. Behind the front retail portion of the store appears a full-service bar serving both lunch/dinner and hosting occasional music groups. I mainly stop by here during lunchtime, but have also popped in a few times during happy hour, which is understandably busier. To describe the atmosphere, let's just say I could pick this place up and drop in back in the middle of Western PA and no one would notice the difference...average locals playing pool and eating burgers/wings while the bartenders serve up endless bottles of Bud and Coors Light. However, they also have a decent variety of ''real" beers regularly on tap and their cheese-steak wrap regularly ends up in my belly a few times a month. The Chicken Caesar salad is also a plateful of goodness, with nearly as much chicken as lettuce. Once again, it's not a place that knocks it out of the park or impresses for any particular reason. It's basically just a cool, fun place that has good, affordable food choices and friendly bartenders (Tammy, Jen) who almost always know what I'm going to order before I even belly up to the extensive bar. I really like this place. I usually stop in to buy beer, and they have a great selection! For a smaller store, they keep a good selection of micro-brews on hand, and they rotate the selection fairly often, so there is usually a new type of beer to try when I stop in here. I love beer, and love trying new beers, so this is great. I have eaten in the restaurant a few times, and the food is good. Typical pub grub. My home away from home! :) During my two year stay in the Air Force "Purgatory" of my career field (the nearby Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst), this place was one of few bright stars in Browns Mills, New Jersey. Admittedly, during the first year of my tour, I only stopped in here on my way home from work to pick up beer, and mistook it for your average liquor store. Some time later, one of my good friends had transferred from Korea and became a frequent face in this place, and subsequently introduced me to the bar I had missed entirely. The front half, or so, is the liquor store, stocked with a good selection of local craft brews, liqueurs, wine, and many of your domestics, complete with some snacks and sundries that go along with your beverages. "The Pub," as we call it, serves a full bar in the back section of the store, complete with both domestic and local brews on tap, and several flat-screens (along with one giant one in the very back) tactically placed so customers can view their favorite game. Tucked away is also a couple of pool tables, and outside patio area that provides an alternate place to eat, drink, and mingle. And Fridays and Saturdays bring live music from local musicians that ramp up the entertainment. The Pub is optimized for football season, with raffles and specials for Eagle fans. The food and drink specials are great, from Taco Tuesday to Wing Night; you won't spend more than you have to. And if your an expatriate from your respective state and team (Washington and the Seattle Seahawks in my case), you're equally welcome, maybe with a bit of friendly rivalry added in. Locals rub shoulders with retirees, active duty military personnel, contractors out-of-town workers looking to unwind, college kids seeking a nice watering hole, and many other types of people. If you're human and friendly, you'll never have issues here. They won't tolerate people looking for a fight, or a way to offend. So word of warning in advance: if you're looking for trouble, you're not welcome here. The brightest stars of The Pub are the bartenders. Really! Tammy, Tracy, Victoria, Brittney, Bethany, Bryan. They each bring their own facet of charm to the place, are fun to hang out with, and are all around great folks. I'm not ashamed to say that when the day arrived that I left New Jersey, and I passed The Pub on my way out of Browns Mills, there was a tear in my eye. Happened upon this place about 2 years ago, and a happy accident it was. From the road, it looks like someplace I would never even venture to step foot into. It's stuffed into a strip mall among a convenience store, tattoo joint and seedy-looking acupuncture parlor, and the sign just says "THE PUB." The front of The Pub is a liquor store, and they carry just about anything you could ever want, beer-wise. Wine selection is another story, but something tells me that demographic lacks accomplished wine connoisseurs. No problem. If I want wine, I travel north... toward civilization. Head to the back of the establishment where the giant wraparound bar is. Sit. Scan the taps. Ah, yes, you are allowed to be pleased. Light? Dark? Cheap? Expensive? Hoppy? Smooth? Yes! Yes! Yes! Yes! Yes! And finally, Yes! They also display a plethora of obscure bottles on the back wall, none of which I've attempted because I'm always so caught up in whatever's on tap that I'm guzzling at an accelerated rate. (I should mention that more often times than not, I'm returning to work following my visits to The Pub.) The bartenders, she whistled and shouted and called them by name, "On Tracy, on Jen, on Brittany, on Tammy!" You ladies always keep my BAC at the proper, elevated levels. The owner, Chris, is almost always hanging around when he's not working on his next business adventure, and you have him to thank for the relaxed atmosphere, so cleverly arranged and always pumping with good music... well, except for when some idiot gets ahold of the juke box. Chow favs are chicken caesar salad (I know, it's so simple, yet oh-so-delicious) and the cheesesteak wrap, but they always have specials, and I swear, I've never been disappointed. I should also mention there's an outside bar/eating area and a pool table in the way back that I've managed to lose every game I've played on to date. Dive bar/liquor store that's what you get here. The food is the typical dive bar stuff of wings, burgers, fries wraps...etc. Good variety of beers on tap. Place is old and well worn, but clean. Staff is very friendly and I never had a bad time there. It also has an outside covered patio outback to hang in the summer. For the area it's a great place to go for a cold one with friends. Cons: Poor phone signal without free wifi (you have to know someone, which I did) Some tables are by the bathrooms... ewww. This place is a lot bigger than it seems at first appearance.. ample seating inside with an outside bar and seating for nice days, pool table in the back and attached to a liquor store just in case you want to pick something up on the way home :) the bartender was great and even accommodated an unusual drink request from me with a smile and topping my drink off for free. My wife and I moved to Country Lakes almost three years ago. On Thursday July 1, 2021 We decide to give "The Pub" a try. We walked in and found a seat. Usually when you walk into a bar someone will greet you and ask what they can get for you, or at least acknowledge that you are there and tell you they'll be right with you, not this time, not at the pub. The waitresses went about there business, making sure they didn't make eye contact with us because if they did, they may have to work. We sat there for about 8 minutes without anyone so much as acknowledging we were there. Finally, we walked out. On my way out I couldn't help but wonder if any of the waitresses even realized it was their job to greet us and offer what they sell, food and drink? If I owned that place and I watched customers come in, sit down and leave because nobody served them, I would replace all of the servers on the shift. We wanted to spend our money there, we wanted it to be an awesome experience because it's 5 minutes from home. It was not that at all. Needless to say, we'll never go back, or at least not until the owner wakes up and realizes he could make a lot more money by just replacing the people who allow customers to leave without being served. It was quite pathetic actually. Go somewhere else, anywhere else. You'll definitely be treated better elsewhere. read more

What a wonderful place to have in your town!! I am, admittedly, a regular patron here, and have been for quite a few years. This is undoubtedly the best watering hole in the entire immediate area. The "Pub" is at the back of the retail liquor store (a previously common situation in this rural area of New Jersey for many years). The bar has been expanded twice and is a huge, wrap-around feature. There is a giant projection TV for big games and probably at least 12 additional flat screen TV's around the premises. The tap beer selection is large (24 taps) with a set of standard brews and an ever-changing selection of seasonal, imported and craft brews. The specials are Yuengling draft lager quart mugs for $4 all the time! Appetizers are 2 for 1 during the 4 - 6 P.M. happy hour, plus the Monday to Thursday specials are all day long (Monday hefty hot dogs/Tuesday tacos [$1.00 each]/Wednesday wings [50 cents each]/Thursday sliders[size of a regular burger elsewhere]). There is a full sized regular menu and a special menu that changes about weekly. I've termed their relatively small kitchen one of the "best kept secrets in Browns Mills." The cooks are talented, the portions are generous. The bar staff is super, super. All professional and friendly. Love you guys & gals! Come back a few times and they'll remember your name & what you drink!! There is a pool table room, small sit down table area for family eating, and a patio for the outdoor minded or smokers.
