I heard "The Rail" - Old Rail Tavern - Barrington N.J. has good wings and food. My dad and I decided to check it out for lunch. He got the garlic hot, and I got the spicy honey garlic. No breading on these guys as they are naked. If you haven't had wings brined before, you'll notice how much it makes a difference. After frying, these meaty wings weren't dry in the least bit. We sincerely enjoyed our wings and cold beer on this warm day. The wings at The Old Rail are quality, I'll leave it at that. Wing lovers, make this a spot to check out. Seems like a locals bar as people walked in were greeted by other patrons. Felt a bit like an episode of Cheers. It was a welcoming environment. We sat at the bar. We received very kind and helpful service. I would recommend getting some fries to dip into your extra sauce!

My first and only visit, and it was a limited stay, but all signs point to being a really great spot. In the area for a wedding. Spotted the beautiful patio and decided to go. Ok. Parking is on the street. Not too hard to find for us but if you are unfamiliar with the area like we were, it took a few minutes to figure out where to go. Sat down on the patio, and a server was with us immediately. Nice sized menu with a good selection of things to order. Specifically, want to comment on the wings. The wings here are very good, well cooked, slightly crunchy, and a good buffalo sauce with some actual heat which is harder and harder to come by. I can definitely see myself coming back and checking out more of the menu, but for my limited stay the service was top-notch, the servers were very friendly, and everything came to the table in a very timely fashion. Whole place is clean, lots of people, and music blaring, all point to good things.

948th different cheesesteak eaten in the last 4 years. A day of cheesesteaks with Amigo Dan and his New Castle Cronies. Old Rail Tavern is decorated a lot nicer than I thought it was going to be. We got a cheesesteak with fried onions and mushrooms. We also got the Philly Special. The Philly special was the star. $18 I'm not rushing back for the Philly Special. The Cheesesteak, Amigo Dan's half was not as good as mine. I guess we'll call it good but inconsistent.

We have been really enjoying the Rail lately. The outside area is great, includes TVs. Of course the inside is available too. The bar style food was delicious. The Buffalo chicken salad had a chicken breast, and not breaded either. The best Buffalo salad I ever had. The fries are beer battered! The pork sandwich came with a dip, they do not forget the details which we like! The craft beer menu each night is awesome too.

And as The Misses stated as we pulled away, "I never knew this place existed, and I'm happy to go back to that." Ouch. First, the good: - The building is spacious, and looked clean. There is plenty of room, and table and bar seating. - The menu is vast, with a lot of options - Service was fine. The bad: - Mulligans is wildly expensive. I think the cheapest thing to eat was a small bowl of fries, which was $7.95 (more on this in The Ugly.) An APPETIZER of chicken fingers was over $13 dollars, and that didn't include fries. I was shocked at some of the prices.... - speaking of those prices, they had Happy Hour AND Lunch specials.....that were almost the exact same price as the regular menu prices. So, a flatbread from the menu was like $12, but the Happy Hour "deal" was a flatbread for $10*....(again, more on this in a second....) How is that a deal? Yardhouse, for example, does HALF PRICE flatbreads during happy hour. - That barely discounted flatbread was also underseasoned, by the way. It looked ok, and had nice sized chicken chunks on it, but The Misses said that everything was underseasoned. (She did give them kudos for fresh fries though...) - There is no kids menu, even though there was a shocking amount of children here. We brought our 7y/o, the table next to us had 2 boys between 5-9, and at least 2 to 3 other groups came in with children just while we were sitting there. But, nothing on the menu for kids. I guess you need to just pony up the $13+ for an appetizer chicken tenders meal. The UGLY: - About those prices....they don't match the menu. I can't stand the price bait and switch, yet Mulligans hit us with it for every item. That bullshit $10 happy hour "deal" is actually $10.40 on the receipt. (BEFORE tax, before one of you wise ass economists chimes in....) My "$11.95 lunch special" was actually $12.43, and the Little Ones small side of fries came in at $8.06. Now, these are just slight little increases, but it's the point that the actual prices arenn't the same as the menu price. All of this is made even worse by the fact that.... - ...anything other than cash incurs a FOUR percent surcharge! So, our meal had an ADDITIONAL $3 tacked on because we paid with a card, like normal people. Who's walking around with cash in 2026? Drug dealers? There is just no reason to travel here to overpay for incorrectly price labeled food that you will then have to pay ANOTHER premium on at the end. The food was FINE, but fine isn't worth the upcharge.

One of the most fun things on the menu is their chicken "thumbs," which are shaped like little hands -- I wish I took a picture because they're great and definitely something you don't see everywhere. Service can be a little hit or miss, but not because the staff isn't working hard -- it's a big place and when it gets busy, it really gets busy, and they sometimes seem a bit understaffed for the rush. That said, everyone is always very friendly, which makes a big difference and keeps the experience positive. They also have a huge bar with several beers on tap, great specialty drinks, and drink specials, so it's a great place to hang out with friends and have a good time. Overall, definitely worth a visit. Just maybe don't go if you're in a big rush -- go when you have time to relax, enjoy the atmosphere, and have a good meal.

Parking was a challenge on a Friday night as every space was full and turning around in the back lot involves making a k turn around the other vehicles who are also looking for a spot. We ended up parking down the street and walking over. We were seated immediately, as the bar has ample seating, both high tops and regular tables. My bff wasn't in the mood for a cocktail so we opted for Arnold palmers. Now, I am a HUGE avocado fan and I had heard about their infamous avocado fries so I was super excited about trying them. That may or may not have been the main reason for my visit. The avocado fries are fresh large slices of avocado breaded in panko and fried with a sweet and tangy spicy mayo sauce. I loved them but my bff wasn't as excited. He informed me he isn't a huge fresh avocado fan, so this one is for the avocado lovers. We also opted for the chicken parm rollers which is described as "Chicken mixed with ricotta cheese, herbs and spices rolled in panko breadcrumbs served with house made marinara and shaved parmesan" - they are chicken meatballs. We expected something else and now that we've had them and I re-read the description I'm not sure what we had in mind but it wasn't this. They were just okay. I think if they were placed on a plate with seasoned whipped ricotta and drizzled with pesto it could boost the flavor experience. For our entrees my bff got the chicken strips with the sweet and sassy sauce and I opted for the KO burger. My KO burger was delicious. The seeded brioche bun was buttery and fresh and the burger itself was flavorful. The fries were also fantastic. Fresh cut and sprinkled with a sweet seasoning, I didn't even feel the need to add ketchup or a side of aioli or anything. They were perfect. I didn't try my bffs chicken tenders but the sweet and sassy sauce tasted just like buffalo sauce. Pretty sure it was the wrong sauce but he didn't say anything to our server so that's on us. If you are looking for a bar to hang out and watch sports, get a drink, and have a great burger, I'd recommend this place - but maybe uber there.

I usually go for the restaurant portion rather than the bar, but the diner has a sizable bar area that adds a lot to the atmosphere. It gives the place a (warm), lively feel without taking away from the comfortable, welcoming character you expect from a classic diner. The staff is inviting, friendly, and attentive in a way that makes you feel at home from the moment you walk in. There's no sense of being rushed, and the overall atmosphere is relaxed and familiar. Whether you're stopping in for a full meal, meeting someone for a casual night out, or simply looking for a comfortable place to sit and unwind, Phily Diner has an easygoing charm that makes you want to stay awhile. The meals are also satisfying in the best possible way. The portions are generous, and the food is filling enough that you leave feeling like you truly had a complete meal.. not just something to tide you over. Everything about the dining experience feels substantial and comforting, from the hearty plates to the welcoming service and the classic diner setting. What I enjoy most is how comfortable the entire experience feels. There's something about the combination of the friendly staff, the inviting layout, the large menu, and the relaxed atmosphere that creates a real sense of familiarity. You can come in as a regular or a first-time visitor and still feel as though you belong there. Phily Diner is more than just a place to grab food. It has character, personality, and a welcoming energy that is difficult to replicate. The restaurant side alone makes it worth visiting, while the bar and overall atmosphere give it an extra dimension. If you're looking for hearty meals, generous portions, friendly people, and a place where you can feel at home for a while, this diner is an excellent choice. I always leave satisfied and would gladly recommend it to anyone looking for a comfortable, enjoyable dining experience in the Runnemede area.
