Parking can be a little tricky with mostly street parking in the neighborhood, but we found a spot without too much trouble. We sat inside, although the outdoor area looked really nice. The inside felt a bit cramped but had a cozy and friendly vibe. There is an open kitchen and a train track along the ceiling, although it was not running when we were there. They also have a jukebox for music. We split the Nashville Hot Chicken Sandwich from the specials menu. It came on a soft, fresh bun with a big, crispy piece of fried chicken, topped with a crunchy and refreshing slaw. It was served with a side of home-fried chips that were hot and crispy. We also shared the zucchini sticks, which came in a large basket, served fresh and hot with a great crunch. The buffalo chicken eggrolls were packed with chunks of chicken, creamy inside, and loaded with strong buffalo flavor. Great little dive bar with lots of TV's to watch sports. We went on the Friday March Madness began and although it was packed we got seated fairly quickly at a table because the bar was full. Service was great despite the crowd. They had good beer selection on tap (with a few Tonewood options since it's literally across the street) and the food was tasty bar food. They had a fish option on Friday for lent which was great for me. My friend got a burger with sweet potato fries & loved it & I got a fried fish sandwich with cole slaw (subbed the bread for a wrap). We ordered everything pretzel bites for an app & they came with the best two dipping sauces. It was a nice & convenient place walkable to Tonewood. I'll definitely be back. read more

I heard "The Rail" - Old Rail Tavern - Barrington N.J. has good wings and food. My dad and I decided to check it out for lunch. He got the garlic hot, and I got the spicy honey garlic. No breading on these guys as they are naked. If you haven't had wings brined before, you'll notice how much it makes a difference. After frying, these meaty wings weren't dry in the least bit. We sincerely enjoyed our wings and cold beer on this warm day. The wings at The Old Rail are quality, I'll leave it at that. Wing lovers, make this a spot to check out. Seems like a locals bar as people walked in were greeted by other patrons. Felt a bit like an episode of Cheers. It was a welcoming environment. We sat at the bar. My first and only visit, and it was a limited stay, but all signs point to being a really great spot. In the area for a wedding. Spotted the beautiful patio and decided to go. Ok. Parking is on the street. Not too hard to find for us but if you are unfamiliar with the area like we were, it took a few minutes to figure out where to go. Sat down on the patio, and a server was with us immediately. Nice sized menu with a good selection of things to order. Specifically, want to comment on the wings. The wings here are very good, well cooked, slightly crunchy, and a good buffalo sauce with some actual heat which is harder and harder to come by. I can definitely see myself coming back and checking out more of the menu, but for my limited stay the service was top-notch, the servers were very friendly, and everything came to the table in a very timely fashion. This is small bar that we found randomly while in the area trying to kill some time. The food was pretty good. I had the bbq wings. They were meaty. The sauce was flavorful and had a little kick to it. I had some of the panzarotti - absolutely delicious. The Italian chicken sandwich looked delicious but I didn't try it. It was served with homemade chips. Service turned out to be ok. When we first sat down at the bar, no one acknowledged us. Two people walked by. Could've said "oh I'll be right with you" or even a "hi". Crickets. It was busy. Then when we ordered drinks and asked for menus, it got a little better. We got a cheesesteak with fried onions and mushrooms. We also got the Philly Special. The Philly special was the star. $18 I'm not rushing back for the Philly Special. The Cheesesteak, Amigo Dan's half was not as good as mine. I guess we'll call it good but inconsistent. read more

We have been really enjoying the Rail lately. The outside area is great, includes TVs. Of course the inside is available too. The bar style food was delicious. The Buffalo chicken salad had a chicken breast, and not breaded either. The best Buffalo salad I ever had. The fries are beer battered! The hostess is probably the one who does her job well. She brought us menus and drinks while the other waitress completely ignored our table despite there were only 2 tables on site outdoor. She waited for the other waitress, who was pleasantly nice enough, to take our orders; but we overheard her saying "I'll take the angry table." Exactly what you picture when you think of a pub atmosphere. Dark space with walls cluttered with old train memorbilia and beer signs. We wen't here looking for a place to grab a few drinks and some quick and easy dinner. The food was mediocre. Not great, but not terrible either. We ordered the buffalo shrimp as an appetizer. 5 or 6 small shrimp came on a plate, not devained... maybe frozen. They came with a side of fries. Not impressed at all. Very dissapointed with the quality of the shrimp. I ordered the Roma Burger for my entree. It came with roasted red peppers, caramelized onions, mozzarella and marinara sauce. It was pretty good! Somehow I have never been here despite it being right around the corner from both my house and the house that my grandparents lived in for decades. That being said, I was excited to check it out. This is definitely a townie bar. Everyone dining on the patio seemed to know each other; it's a bar for all ages and social circles apparently. I took a quick peek inside and I like the vibe the large bar was giving me. One day (post-pandemic) I'd like to sit at that bar and check out the real scene. The patio was nice, but could really use some more outdoor lighting. It got dark rather quickly, and we had poor lighting even though we were sitting right under a dim streetlamp. We went for V&T/G&T for drinks. Both were average, each round. The beer list was ittybitty, which is why we went opted for liquor. My guy had the BBQ chicken sandwich with house made chips (which were delish!). I wanted the turkey reuben, but they were all out. I settled for a southwest chicken wrap, which was good as much as a generic wrap can be. I was excited to taste an actual Jersey tomato in the wrap, and they were generous with the bacon. What really shines here? Three words:: GARLIC CHEESE CURDS. If you love yourself, you'll order the curds. Trust me on this one. read more

Came in around 12:30pm on a Saturday for lunch, beer, and football. The elderly bartender was immediately attentive and poured our beers and switched a TV to show the Baylor/WVU game. I had a good pumpkin beer on tap. We waited to order food not realising we had to order from a different server. I got the buffalo chicken mac n cheese and it was so good!! Big fan of it. We stayed for 3 rounds and enjoyed ourselves here. It's more of a neighborhood bar than dive bar. We felt very comfortable here and all the bartenders were friendly. Under the bar where I sat, there was an outlet with USB port. I thought that was pretty cool. People can charge their phones etc right at the bar. It was U Call It burger night and I probably should have grabbed a burger. Instead I decided to go with the Chicken Cordon Blue sandwich. This is a great neighborhood bar with a quiet atmosphere during the week and a lively crowd on weekends. I had the joy of spending a snow day with my brother and had your typical amazing corner bar service. I had an old school bartender who let us pick the channel on the TV and we enjoyed the 2.00 Budweiser special for Monday. There is a special every day here and the atmosphere is great. My husband and I moved to the area in 2019 and the Rail has consistently been a weekly stop. Servers and bartenders are always awesome, even when it's extremely busy. Salads are huge and delicious. Chicken cultet sandwich and wings/boneless bites are favorites. Tons of craft beers that rotate regularly, and surprisingly good wine options. This is one of the only places around that hasn't jacked up prices post-COVID. read more
