We dined here for dinner on my birthday as we happened to be in the area and I wanted a little more upscale experience without being formal. We have dined at other Melting Pot locations for over twenty years and this was on par with previous experiences. Our server seemed a little inexperienced but the manager was on top of things and helped him. Overall the service was very good. The food was great- with just the two of us we find the cheese course to be too filling so we go a-la-carte starting with a house salad which was tasty and all ingredients were fresh. We love the Mojo broth cooking style so we always get that. We each did a create our own selection of proteins and we ask for extra mushrooms and broccoli. The teriyaki marinated steak and the herb-crusted chicken are go-to choices. I tried the brown sugar bourbon steak as my third while my wife went with shrimp. Everything was delicious. For dessert we went with the pure dark chocolate and added a shot of chambourd liquor. Our server seemed concerned that would make the chocolate too thin but we reassured him we had done it before and it is fine. I highly recommend the combo. Our server placed a birthday candle in one of the brownie pieces for me which was just the right touch. This is a nice location and the layout of the restaurant offers a mix of smaller tables for couples and small parties and also some larger tables for bigger groups. Not sure what that would be like; I put it off. Today was the day we decided let's give it a try. Well, pictures nor a description will do this location justice. It is truly an experience that requires you to engage. The service was excellent. First, we chose our 4-cheese fondue for the appetizer, and then the salads. We chose California salad with pecans and the blue cheese wedge. For our main, we choose the Bigger Night Out with lobster tail cooked in oil. Then it was time for dessert, and it was so worth the wait. Chocolate lovers enjoy. The whole dining experience involves cooking your entire meal, and yes, it is so much fun. In the center of the table is the stove. Each course requires a new pot. As you wait in anticipation of what the next will be, you are excited to eat. The portions are perfect and filling. Any occasion is one to celebrate at the Melting Pot. It took about two hours from start to tip. The owner came to greet all his guests , welcoming you, and inviting you back. We didn't get served... made a reservation, hostess was very rude. Made a request for a large quiet booth because I had a 3 yr old in the group. Place was empty, gave us a booth right on top of another couple in the back that was a super small booth (maybe 4 other people in the entire restaurant), anyways, finally sit and the power goes out. No communication and our server ghosted us. Finally gave up and the manager ran after us giving us a hard time for leaving! But they had no power and no ETA and we hadn't even gotten the menus or water... just seemed like poor service regardless of the circumstances. I love The Melting Pot. I have been to Melting Pots in Reston, Arlington, Atlantic City (closed now), Sacramento, and of course Fredericksburg. I have to say Fredericksburg is hands down the best Melting Pot I've been to. Went (again) last Friday for my niece's birthday. (I've been several times over several years.) As usual the food was great. I don't think I've ever been in there when the owner was not there touching every table. Seriously - he should give speeches on how to be a great business owner. Always says hello, makes sure everyone is happy, refreshes water, sometimes even gives coupons for your next visit. If you're thinking about going, check their events page. They often run specials (my favorite is unlimited cheese and chocolate). For food my favorite cheese is the Fiesta - tho sometimes they have special cheeses that are also great. I also really like the Cheddar - it's really good with the apple slices. Caesar salad is great and I usually get the pick your own entree with filet mignon, cajun filet mignon and shrimp. Since my last visit I have a new favorite dessert - the flaming turtle chocolate with dark chocolate instead of milk chocolate. SUPER good. I highly recommend this place! read more

My boss took myself and my co workers there as a Christmas gift and it was a great experience. The staff were very nice and patient with us. They explained everything really well since it was our first time at the melting pot. I enjoyed the cheeses and the meat, cooking my own meat was interesting. Returned for my birthday with my family. Our waitress was nice but was not the level of customer service we usually receive. Large gaps of time passed when we were looking for her. It took at least 15 minutes to receive our drinks. Courses were served and were good as usual. The amounts for portions seemed significantly smaller for cheese. With dessert asked for coffee, another person's was literally just water. Told the waitress and she sniffed it before she concurred. Brought out a replacement cup and it was room temperature. Requested the add on dessert plate. Cheesecake and profiteroles were fine. The cookie sticks that were supposed to be crunchy were chewy and soft. MP has always been an old faithful. So to feel like we were going out of town for my daughter's 18th birthday we took a quick trip up 95N and had a birthday dessert feast made for a Queen! This was our first time dining at the Melting Pot and to say the least we thoroughly enjoyed our experience! The owner and our waitress Avian are literally the best! Avian went over our options with great detail and we ordered the dessert course added the salted chews and a cup of coffee for the bday girl (she's a avid coffee drinker and said it was one of the best cups she's ever had). The chocolate and fruit was my favorite and my daughter enjoyed the cheesecake and brownie bites! Finally made it in to The Melting Pot In all the years of driving by it. I must say, it was not the dining experience I was expecting. From the start everything was going great, my party arrived an hour early and we planned to sit at the bar until the reservation time arrived but they went ahead and seated us immediately. My party decided to go with just about everything you could order, starting with the cheese fondue appetizer we ordered 2 different cheeses and snacked the breads and fruits that came out with them until it was gone. We went with the Wisconsin cheddar and the Mediterranean, it all tasted great and every one was happy. Next out came the salads every ended up with a different salad and seemed to enjoy them, I had the Caesar myself and thought it was very good. Now on to the dinner, the wife and I ordered the classic which had chicken, 2 types of sirloin, and shrimp along with a side order of lobster tail for each of us. My other guests ordered a create your own which consisted of duck, chicken, sirloin, and pork with a side of lobster tails also. We chose you go with the Bourguignonne and Court Bouillon cooking styles. Now this is where If you have never been here can be a bit of a shock, all the meats come out raw and you cook them yourself. It is a very interesting set up but a great way to have conservations for the entire dinner as the cooking process can be slow. For me it was nice as I haven't seen my guests in some time and it allowed us to catch up. After dinner we ordered the dessert and went with the Flaming Turtle and Bananas Foster. It came out with little pieces of pound cake, brownies, Rice Krispie treats and fruits. It was a very enjoyable experience and was great for my wife and I as it was our first time in, my guests had been to The Melting Pot before. In the end as the food comes out it doesn't look like much but that is deceiving as we were all full and happy in a miserable way. The was around $372.00 plus an $80 tip for the waitress who was quick with our drinks and explaining how the process works. So $452 for a 3 hour dinner. I would definitely recommend this place for adults only, I wouldn't recommend bringing young children that have short attention spans or like to touch everything as all the food is cooked by you in front of you. Tried to make a reservation online twice. First one was about six days in advance and the second was same day because they sent me an email stating the restaurant had cancelled our reservation. But upon arrival we were told our reservation didn't exist even after showing the emails proving other wise. And they were too packed to seat us. I have been going to this restaurant for the last 5 years and this was the worst experience I've had. Just two weeks before visiting this location I visited the Arlington location for my birthday, so I know that this lack of performance was not due to COVID. I really didn't want to write this review and it took a while, but it's important that I do. Every Valentine's Day I take my two daughters here (5 & 9). This time from beginning to end was horrible. I called to make the reservation and I told them it would be my two children and me and he asked if I knew the prices. I stated that I come every year for this event, so he actually looked me up by my phone number to see my history. We arrived on a reservation and waited 10 minutes to be seated and then waited another 15 minutes to be acknowledged. I had to get up out of my seat to see if someone was going to help us (but this is what a $200 meal look like). Eventually the manager came over to apologize, took our drink order and I thought it would get better from there, but it did not. The presentation of our meal was completely brushed over and when the server did come to our table after the manager it was an additional 5 minutes and he didn't have the drinks we ordered with the manager. Once he did bring the drinks he didn't even bring what i told him the drinks were. They said they had a kid menu, but then they said it's verbal. I didn't understand why the menu said there was a kids menu separate from the pre-arranged adult menu, but there is no real kids menu. My chocolate was cold and came from the kitchen like a pot your mom brings to the table at home. It was ridiculous. My table was not bussed without asking. I had to keep asking for things to be removed or even refilled. I didn't have the appropriate number of utensils. To me this was not 5star service for 5 star rates and I know it for a fact because I am a frequent diner and I will not be going back. The manager should have ensured the rest of our visit was pleasant. I almost never write a complaint because Grace is huge to me, but being here made me feel disregarded, disrespected and uneasy. My children (5 &9) also recognized it. It was very visible! I still tipped the server, but my business will not be at this location. read more

The cheese was clumpy and separated. We paid over $100 to eat food that we had to cook ourselves. It took over 30 minutes, we were not given solid instructions on timing, and some of it did not get cooked through. Bringing raw meat to the table with no disinfectant and expecting us to use the same utensils on raw and cooked meat. The food was cold when we finally finished cooking on our table top and our clothes smelled like burn cooking oil. I talked to the manager about paying for the cheese and salad portion but not the self cooked entrees because I didn't eat mine and my husband had 2 bites. He said no.We had paid per person and not per item so we stayed for the last portion, the chocolate course. The chocolate was not properly melted. Once we turned it up and stirred it ourselves the manager kept coming and asking if we were done. I got tired of the asking and we left. We will not be returning and I will not recommend. read more
