That's when Dragon Ball and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles shaped my resilience to overcome adversity. My choice of foods was heavily influenced by my choice of entertainment. Japanese foods was all the rage, Ramen and Gyoza, to this day, everything tastes like store bought. But that not what I am reviewing. There was a place I could go to for school lunch and snack before riding a bus to the separate Base for American families that forever shaped my love for pizza! I freaking LOVE pizza! And at this place, they had a Hamburger Pizza that would disappear just as soon as it's delivered. So, whenever my brother and I would order one, we would quickly grab two slices and make a sandwich. Or what modern society would have you call, "Calzone." Only way to make sure I could get at least 4 slices I've been reviewing pizza places that were not well known in my neighborhood, and stumbled upon an establishment that specifically makes Calzones. In my head, I thought, get the H-E-double hockey sticks out of here! That's quite a claim when someone says they are a specialist. That means, at the very least, exceeding expectations is average for the specialist. So... yeuah, I tried it. Let me start by saying I had it delivered. When someone says the ingredients are fresh and you can taste the harmony of the intentions of chef's menu in what they serve. From my understanding, this means your first bite separates the ingredients and then mingles and joins together to heighten a new flavor. Did Calzone Life achieve this? I would say they were pretty close, but what made them worth a second try, was there evenly cooked end results that had the amazing crunch with creamy smooth filling topped with (bread crumbs sprinkles, I am not sure but what the H-E-double hockey sticks in a good way!) You can tell each Calzone is prepared with care and they want you to love it and grow to want it. My ordered was delivered quickly, but to my disappointment, the food was hot and ready, but so was my KitKat ice cream. LoL. That was poorly thought out in terms of delivery. Maybe a bag or something that blocks heat and keeps cold in? I loved that I didn't have to request Parmesan sprinkles and red pepper flakes. But the food, decent enough, I actually ended up forgetting to use them. Overall, Calzone Life knows how to make a pizza pie. ANnnnnnd... if you order for delivery, it's pretty darn good, plus who wouldn't get won over with Ice Cream delivery. The pepperoni and 3-4 cheeses were really good and the pesto dipping sauce. Paired together the sauce wins. So, little dips instead of the Michael Jordan slam dunk method, so, the food doesn't just taste like the sauce. Thanks for the nostalgic childhood memory reminder. Calzone Life brought me back, so, all kinds of appreciation for a good dinner and breakfast.

The difficult part is we spent hours / days trying to find the best BBQ for our event, and take a chance here and not only does Jim cancel a week out leaving us barely any time to find alternatives... but he tried to hide from it! It was clear afterwards he frankly wasn't going to tell us, he ignored my messages and I had to use other means to get a response from him. The messages speak for themselves... just no class, zero respect, and a flake. If you plan on catering for an event, use the SD top 3 BBQ spots or even look a little north. They are super responsive and at least you know they'll show up / respond. We ended up going with Grand Ole BBQ and it was incredible.

I had a question regarding the chicken and so I reached on the website and was provided a prompt response. I placed my order for pick up 2 days later. They do offer delivery if local as well. I ordered a half order of brisket (point); 2lbs of pork belly; and 2lbs of chicken. Total was about $150. We had a party of 4 adults and 3 picky kids. Upon pick up the order was quick and easy. It was actually ready before our scheduled pick up time! (Email was sent with estimated time.) The food was still hot when we started to dig in 30 mins later. The brisket came whole so we had to cut it. Pork belly came in large bite sized pieces. Chicken came chopped per my request. Everything was sooo delicious, juicy, and flavorful. I'm not too keen on smoke flavored or dry brisket but Jim's totally changed my mind! Blew all of us away. For a party of 4 adults, this would last us 3 meals. We couldn't stop raving about it afterwards!!! My personal fave is the pork belly. The sauce was sweet, tangy, and had a bite. I couldn't get enough! Brisket was fatty but I love fattier pieces of meat. The chicken looked dry but it was tender and full of flavor! I was pleasantly surprised. I will definitely order again from Jim's! Very satisfied and highly recommended! B
