I slowly noticed that they were cutting some on my favorite dishes. I guess they are not able to keep the nice menu they used to have. I just got an email with a letter to all of us. They were ending their pasta dishes from now on. Totally bites. I love their pastas . That is what it made the place more than a regular bar. Really miss them steamed clams... Now they want to specialize in just pizza and burgers. Well I love their Tuscan pizza but I am not sure I will travel all the way down there just for pizza. It's totally a bummer. I know that they have to survive and all but I sure will miss the great scratch made food. It sure lasted a nice long time. Good luck to them and I hope they make it alright.

I wanted to visit here because of the guest performer that was going to be here. From what o hear, she has performed here in the past before. And I know for anytime in the future that her and her band is around again, I will definitely try to make it out. For sure the music vibes had me dancing in my seat, while I enjoyed a bowl of chilli and homemade cornbread. The chilli was of without spice but the cornbread was delicious to accent the meal overall. In the beginning of our visit the table service was a bit slow as we were walked by twice before r even being acknowledged as I spoke up asking about their pricing on a few items. Once we warmed up and had our meal, we later ordered a flight of wine. We asked the server assisting us inside to pick what they thought were some of the best wines they have. A bit on the bolder side for me but we finished them off. Ther performance was set up outside on their side patio but inside is really nice and welcoming as well. Very well thought out on the decors and the restroom was really clean. I know that we will be visiting again during one of our weekend strolls through town. Look forward to trying their pasties but since it was a busy Sunday and father's Day they were sold out when we arrived at 12:20pm. We will definitely be back!

Chimichurri steak tacos had a lot of flavor with the sauce, although the sauce was a bit on the oily side and the tortillas were tough to chew. My friend who ordered the same dish ended up eating it with a fork and knife haha.

The fries were tasty, especially dipped inside of the "Bulldog" Sauce. The sauce was presented as a fancy ketchup. Lastly, the lasagna with the beef & pork meatball was beyond palatable. Everything was consistently tantalizingly my taste buds. Emalie was my server throughout the entire dining experience. Her hospitality and attentiveness was awesome and met expectations. The price points listed on the menu were fair and manageable. For the three items alone, it was approaching nearly $70. The interior was a lively vibe with an intimate atmosphere. The environment provided dim lighting and beautiful decor throughout. There was also a market to purchase items to go. Overall, I'd continue returning to Market Tavern due to flavorful food, marvelous setting and pleasant staff. This is one of my top restaurants in Stockton, CA.

3 stars because of the service. I went tonight and we had a good waitress who took our order fairly…read morepromptly. However when we received our entrees I was underwhelmed. The chicken Parmigiana (house specialty) was presented on a large plate and the food only took up half of it. Was this a plating error? It truly looked like food was missing on the plate. The Rib Eye, a special of the night came in 2 large pieces and on small piece. It made no sense. It took a while to get our waitresses attention, but when we did she took it to her manager. I sent it back after asking is this how it is typically served she said sometimes it comes like that and other times it comes as one big piece. When ordering a $60 steak I expect to get a whole steak. If I was told it was done for sharing purposes maybe I would have understood it being in 2 pieces but not a third small piece. To top it off, this is for the manager on site tonight, your patrons can see your reaction. You looked pissed that I had the audacity to send it back. Then while you stood speaking with the chef in the open kitchen it again looked like a problem that I would want a whole steak. Lastly when speaking with the waitress and she leaves seemingly upset at your reaction it does not make for a good dining atmosphere. The restaurant was packed. It is homecoming weekend. Like led like some locals were there too. At the table next to us a staff member sat down with some patrons eating before going back to work tables delivering beverages. Probably on a break. I was please to see family and friends supporting the restaurant. The Chicken parmigiana with the pesto was delicious besides the poor plating. The Rib Eye once served properly was lacking n some seasoning or as my son said it tasted bland. Maybe the butter needed to be melted all over it to give it additional seasoning, but I would prefer to not eat the cold butter that didn't want to melt into the steak. Mashed potatoes were mashed potatoes. String beans were blanched and crunchy. Lots of them filling up the plate. The BEST thing we ate was the Pear Crisp! It was warm and sweet with the perfect crunch on top. The restaurant is large but reservations fill up! There was a back room that could be closed up by some drapes and a large bar area. Also in the front is a market to purchase pre cooked and portion items home. Along with sauces, ice cream, items for a charcuterie board and wine to drink in house or take it to go. To go prices are slightly lower. I would consider going back and give it an another try. The wood fired pizzas, burgers and salads looked very good. Large portions as well for those. Watching the managers reaction to my disappointment in my order truly detracted from the dining experience. He never came over to speak to us. I might be in from out of town but I do get to choose where my family dines when we are here large or small parties.
