The Martello is my favorite spot for dinner and drinks when I'm in Bray. I have been there a few times now and it never disappoints. It's right on the water, and it's a cozy cute spot with amazing food and drinks. I had the fish and chips and a hop house lager and it was the most perfect combination. I've had the burger as well which was also lovely. The waitress answered all my questions that I had about the menu and checked in on us quite a few times. If she was busy, she would send another server to top off our drinks and get us refills if need be. Overall- if you're in the Bray area, I'd definitely recommend checking out The Martello!

Service was good and staff very friendly. Food was good quality product but badly cooked or served. I'm not sure which. I think they don't pre heat the serving plates so it was cold when it arrived at table. Coffee was not good. Tea was fine. Bar interior looked nice. I could enjoy listening to live music over a cocktail here for sure. Just not a great brekky.

The Martello was just amazing. Located by see, with outside seating. The staff was really nice and friendly. The food we had looked fantastic and tasted even better. Definitely recommend

Great place! I'm glad I came here. I was searching for a breakfast spot and the first one off the train did not have breakfast serving at that hour. Passed another one and then spotted this one and looked really nice. Has indoor seating and outdoor seating. Was greeted by lovely people. Got our order at a reasonable time and it was delicious! I had the steak and eggs and it just looks so good as definitely filled me up. Even the water is delicious here! Lol and the price is lower than other places I've been to all over Ireland. Would definitely come back!

The Martello on Bray's seafront is a lounge bar with an extensive menu and nice views of the promenade. It's probably one of the most popular spots in Bray. It does a roaring trade, particularly at the weekend when the hot weather draws Dubs out on the Dart to Bray. It boasts a large beer garden and this is a hive of activity and merriment when the sun comes out. The menu offers a range to suit all diners from panini and bruschetta to beef and Guinness pie and glazed duck. In fact, the term 'pub grub' probably doesn't do it justice! On the downside, the interior is quite generic and characterless - it feels like that of a hotel, hardly surprising considering The Martello is actually part of the Heather House Hotel. However this doesn't seem to deter the punters. If it's too cold to sit outside, grab a table by the window upstairs and look out over the promenade. The bar is open late, although a lot of the young clientele will slink off into 'The Koo' nightclub come nightfall.

Plenty of heaters even during summer.

Quickly. Stayed outside under the tent. Minuses: - birds everywhere - birds spooking sound system plays awful crows sounds - wooden outside tables are annoying to sit in and get up - not cheap Pluses: + even during summer heaters were on + fast service + friendly barman

    Lasagna is delicious.

I love summer time and Martello is one of my favorite spots during this time. Service is quick and they have a good selection of craft beers. I had meal at the bistro, which is lovely. Food was good, they have an international menu, as a starter I had calamari strips with an extra side salad and I opted for a lasagna that was delicious and it was served with a side of fries and garlic bread. Their kinder bueno cake deserves a 5 star, portions are generous and I love the place atmosphere. I just didn't like the crows attacking the food on the outside tables.

Great seafood chowder. Lots of seafood, served with homemade brown bread. Friendly service. Nice, historic pub. Reasonable price.

Waterfront bar and restaurant. Decent drinks and food, a wee bit expensive and not very inspiring.

Everything was fresh, homemade, and absolutely delicious. The full Irish breakfast was spot-on (and they even allowed substitutions), and lunch was just as memorable. You can truly taste the care that goes into every dish. What really set Poppy's apart, though, was the hospitality. They went above and beyond -- even offering to meet us early the next morning so we could pick up something on our way to the airport. That kind of kindness is rare and unforgettable. If you're looking for authentic Irish comfort food served with genuine warmth, don't miss this place. It's a true gem. Note - they are close to Powercourt Hotel. However, upon arrival, we realized how tiny the place was and that it was where locals ate lunch.. so imagine our private group inundating this unsuspecting restaurant staff! As we entered this establishment, we were greeted with the charm of the friendly staff and the quaint and cheerful interior unique to each region of Ireland. They were quite friendly and accommodating yet very efficient! The aroma of hearty food wafted about our senses and titillated our tastebuds! I ordered shepherd's pie and it came with a side salad. Of course, I have to try their ice cream! It was incredible!! Everything was fresh!! So if you get the chance, drop in on this little gem.. your tastebuds will thank you!!

Ha Ha! Your review was spot on Maggie!…read more The last time I was there was last month and before that about two years ago. All the memories and reasons came flooding back to me of why I don't go there and never will again! I was lured under the pretence that the drinks were 3euro-they weren't! Had to pay in and pay for your jacket - there was an angry looking bouncer who made sure I dropped in my jacket. So we ended up in the 80's 90's bar. The music was still the same as it was two years ago. You can be assured they play men at work, "land down under". I don't have a big problem with this sing but when it's played ad nauseum it can get annoying! Not only that though the DJ's skills involved pressing play on a selection of mix cds that were stacked beside the dj booth. I remember when it used to be jammers every Saturday night but this particular Saturday half the floors were closed and it was pretty empty which made it feel pretty pathetic and the crowd small crowd that were there mainly consisted of under agers. A night which shouldn't be repeated! Oh and a mad funny clip from years ago when Time was packed and people actually went including MTV Dance (yes it really did happen, I was there that night!eep) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rN_lkjTKgQg
