After getting off at the Bray DART station, rather than heading to the seaside, we headed inland towards the Main Street, as my brother wanted to get a pint of Guinness & I decided I could do with a Hot Chocolate.
As we'd grown up in Australia, when my brother and I saw the name of this pub, it was pretty unanimous to go in, but honestly it was a bit awkward. It's a VERY local pub, and everyone stared at us when we walked in. We got a seat towards the back where an avid group of older men were watching the horse-racing on 3 different television screens and there was one bloke acting as the bank. It was an interesting but also such a weird experience.
Also I made a mistake in getting the hot chocolate (€2) as it was clearly from a no-frills packet and tasted of cheap cocoa. But the bar-keep has a sense of good humor cause when he came over to our table with drinks in his hand, he cheekily said, "It's a pint of Guinness for the young lady and a hot chocolate for the Lad" to which we all had a good laugh and then switched around the drinks.
This is clearly a bar to drink in rather than get any other kind of drinks!
