Bacon cheeseburger and fries
Danielle K.

Today my husband and I had lunch at The Marsh and we were impressed. We were seated at a high top table on the bar side of the restaurant. We had a free appetizer coupon from getting pick up pizza from The Marsh in December. (The pizza we got for take out was great! The extended family loved it.) We ordered bourbon steak quesadilla as an appetizer. Very tasty but filling. I had a fig and marscapone ravioli as an entree. I adored it!!! My husband got a bacon cheeseburger and we laughed when the bun came out branded with the restaurant name. The service was a little slow, but we'd still return.

I really want to like this place I've been here twice both times the pizza wasn't great. I got a jalapeño hamburger onion pizza. We drove right to rafferties to get. Replacement pizza for the Marsh. It was just a cheese pizza with a can of jalapeños on top. pizza was $26 on top. This was the second chance I don't see myself being back.

Really slow service. Bartenders are old (golden girls) and slow. This place caters to the elderly. Food isn't worth it.

The service is horrendous. I'll let you know how the food is if it ever gets here. Wicked attitude from our server.

The food is great. My favorites are the cheese pizza and the barbecue chicken. Hopefully the service will improve over time.

I would like to express my concerns regarding our recent visit to your establishment, which was…read moreadvertised as a kid-friendly environment. Unfortunately, my experience was quite the opposite. During our visit, I witnessed the owner loudly reprimanding children and their parents for typical child behavior. Additionally, our order was not fulfilled; the steak and cheese egg rolls were unappetizing and resembled a processed paste, and the side salad was simply a mix of greens with ranch dressing, despite my request for balsamic vinaigrette. Furthermore, the owner's aggressive demeanor was alarming. He followed me outside, questioning where I worked and suggesting that I should endure the same treatment. This incident escalated to the point where he demanded $400 for wall damages that were nonexistent, as there was no visible marker on the walls -DUE TO THE FACT THAT THEY ARE DRY ERASE MARKERS. or because the child wrote her name so small that even if it was permanent marker, you would never be able to see it, but they were doing something wrong and we did have a conversation with them. After they stopped crying because you screamed in their faces While I understand that children should not write on walls ( even though looks like you can and has markers on them), the response from the owner was excessive and disproportionate. I believe that a more professional approach, such as a polite reminder about the rules, would have sufficed. This experience is disappointing, especially since we had previously recommended your establishment to others and enjoyed our visits. For families seeking a positive environment, I suggest considering alternative venues, as our experience did not reflect the welcoming atmosphere promised. .

We made reservations and arrived to a reasonably full restaurant--not overwhelming. From the…read moreparking lot, you could already smell the steak tips cooking, which was promising. We were seated right away, though the high-top tables near the door were freezing; guests with winter jackets and hats looked like they were braving the arctic. Our waitress didn't come by for about 15 minutes, which we didn't mind initially. When she arrived, she seemed a bit awkward. We ordered drinks and asked about the $9 chowder, specifically if it came in a bowl or cup. She confidently said it was a "bigggg giant bowl" and suggested we split it. When the chowder finally arrived, we were disappointed. I may have counted three small potatoes in my bowl, and the crackers seemed to take up most of the space. If you're craving chowder in Plymouth, there are many better and more reasonably priced options. We are new homeowners and cook lovely meals daily, so the few times we go out these days, we really look forward to enjoying the atmosphere and getting exactly what we are paying for. We're not overly fancy--pubs and taverns are our jam. Sitting at the bar, we finally enjoyed our meals. The bar staff were great, and the actual meal itself was VERY good. However, it seemed like if you're not a "regular," the attention and welcoming feel can be inconsistent unless you're seated at the bar. In short: good food, okay bar service, but inconsistent front-of-house experience.

I have been to several other Tavern in the Square and I am happy that they finally came to Braintree. With plenty of parking, depending on the time and day, this restaurant is clean, new, and is perfect for watching all kinds of sports. With great big TVs, excellent food and wonderful service, I believe Tavern in the Square will thrive here. We stopped in here for a quick lunch and had great service. I ordered the Chopped Greek with Chicken which was larger than I hoped but still very good. My husband had their Steak & Cheese Crunch Melt. It reminded me of a steak and cheese but better. A must order for sure! Go check it out for yourself! I know you will be impressed as much as we were.

Both my daughter and I elected to have a delicious medium cooked tavern burger with their special sauce, which apparently is mustard ketchup mayonnaise, and some seasonings. That's not really that all special, but the burgers were cooked to perfection and very moist, which I like. The french fries were great and extra well on the way I like them. Everything was served hot. My daughter enjoyed her meal as well.. The waitress and the server were both very nice, friendly and professional. We will definitely come back. I would like to make sure I have a dessert the next time. This would be for dinner. The waitress recommended what's called the skillet cookie, which is a very large chocolate chip cookie, served warm in a skillet topped with ice cream and caramel. How could you possibly go wrong?

The food and service were not up to snuff, as our waitress was rather slow and inattentive. The salad I ordered was STILL not correct in that it featured items which I specifically asked to be removed. I did note that my salad was brought out in a bowl and not a sheet pan, which was an improvement over last time. The thing was that there were less than 10 people in the restaurant at the time as we arrived around noontime and I would have thought that the waitstaff would have had the time to attend to us in a proper fashion, but they were content to mill about close to the bar area. The drinks were OK and though not spectacular, were still good and met with my expectations. Apparently, management has yet to take appropriate steps to ensure that the waitstaff is attentive and the food is brought out properly. My wife ordered things that were more in line with this restaurant's strengths and she thought everything was fine, but as with the last time I was here, it seemed that little attention was paid to dishes that are not fried or battered in some way. While I realize that it is impossible to be all things to all people, when I order something at a restaurant, I expect it to be perfect considering the prices. All in all, I will not be returning to this place unless some serious improvements are made not only in the quality of the dishes, but in the attentiveness of the staff.
