The cocktail glass came straight from the freezer, and the drink was shaken and strained. I enjoyed sipping the ice-cold cocktail alongside the super-salty, crunchy olives. Despite being shaken, the drink was strong without feeling diluted. The food arrived promptly, and I particularly enjoyed the guacamole appetizer. The dip was fresh, with creamy avocado pieces that made for a great start to the meal. I was excited to see a poke bowl on the menu, and while the tuna was fresh, the dish as a whole was a little underwhelming. Pickled onions instead of raw red onions would have elevated the bowl, while the tomatoes and spinach felt like an odd addition and didn't add much to the overall dish. The fries were also fine. To end, The Lantern has a welcoming atmosphere, a solid cocktail, and some tasty bites, but there's room for a little more finesse on the plate. I'd happily return for another cocktail and to see what else the menu has to offer.

There was a table with kids that was really loud; they could use some acoustical tiles or something. The vibe was pretty nice. It's a decent spot, in this nice little downtown.

Maybe the best ceaser salad ever. Appreciate the small cuttings of the lettuce. Maine lunch beer will always get 5/5 from me. Ahi tuna tacos were divine wish I ate them last. The Tostito ahi tuna was great as was the ice cream and whipped cream in the desert. Amy our server was so lovely and attentive despite a slamming Friday night. Oh seated right away. 4/5 the smores brownie was good not great a bit dry. Wife says I'm being overly critical. Probably. Margarita was very good. Salmon tacos also very good but really suffered in comparison to my ahi tuna tacos. Had I eaten them first they'd be 5/5

One thing that drives me nuts is I don't think they have updated the menu on their website literally in years. YEARS. There are items still listed on there that I know they haven't had in ages. In this day and age, I find it unacceptable for any restaurant to neglect the upkeep of their website, but I find it especially unacceptable when it's a restaurant that's trying to be somewhat high end-ish. This isn't the diner. Fix ya website!

The bar seats were comfortable and we could easily talk with one another and the service was excellent! We ordered a mocktail with Ginger beer and citrus juices that was refreshing. We each had the watermelon, arugula, feta cheese, sliced almonds topped with burrata cheese salad and I can't say enough about how delicious and fresh tasting it is!!! In addition, the presentation was just beautiful! We also shared an order of seared sesame tuna over greens that was also excellent and beautifully presented. The owner came by to check on us, as he always does every time I have dined here. Between the lovely decor, comfortable seating, warm and friendly service and consistently delicious food, you just can't go wrong here. Given all of this, the pricing is quite reasonable! If you haven't experienced The Barn Door, I highly suggest a visit.

The space is modern, warm, and understated. Everything we ordered was excellent. The panisse was golden and crisp on the outside, soft and creamy in the middle. The hake was light, buttery, and cooked perfectly, and the lamb chops were tender, flavorful, and beautifully seasoned. Every plate felt carefully put together, with classic French techniques and just enough creativity to make each dish feel special. And then there was dessert. The profiterole was the perfect ending to the meal--a light, airy pastry filled with ice cream, covered in a crisp hazelnut shell, and finished with a smooth chocolate glaze. It had the perfect mix of crunch, creaminess, and rich chocolate, but somehow still felt light enough that you wanted every last bite.

It's a great space: simple and comfortable, lively yet not too loud. My one complaint is re nuts. Why so many dishes with them when so many people are allergic? Overall though we really liked it and will probably return.
