I ordered the chicken and waffles for the first time and was very disappointed. The waffle was very thick and dense, not fluffy at all. My daughter ordered a non spicy Bloody Mary, which was extremely spicy. Also had it taken off. I know that restaurants are having a hard time with staffing these days, but that's when the owners need to step up and oversee the food that is being sent out. Being a Racine resident for 25 years I've come to understand there aren't many good places to eat. Maple Table, I really REALLY wanted to like you. The place is always busy and I've heard great reviews, so I finally gave it a try. I went with my 14 year old for lunch. I got the only burger on the menu, kid got an avocado BLT. First, the BLT: it comes with honey mustard, which the kid didn't want so it was left off. There must have been a half pound of "bacon" on it. I put bacon in quotes because it was more like peppered pork jerky. It was extremely dry and chewy. As for avocado there may have been the remnants of a smear on one slice of bread. Overall, very disappointing. Next, the burger: The only burger that I saw on the menu is this one. It's on a pretzel bun, 2x1/4 pound patties drastically under seasoned, a Sunny side up egg, and some of that bacon I mentioned above. Like I said, I really wanted to like this, but it was flavorless, messy and chewy. I could only stomach eating half of it and even then I felt awful afterwards. The restaurant was very busy - of course it was a Sunday morning brunch and there were 8 of us. They were very accommodating especially considering we had a baby in our party. My family stopped here for brunch and I have to say the healthy menu betrays the flavor and deliciousness of the food. I came here to meet up with a couple of new friends and it was a very cute place. The menu however is too "out there" I couldn't decide on anything I wanted so I just got banana & chocolate chip pancakes which were pretty good but I never get pancakes at restaurants, I don't even get them at pancake houses. I just got them because they were the only thing on the menu that I knew I'd somewhat like. I should've checked their menu before going. We had high Hopes, but the errors and quality lacked immensely, they looked understaffed and undertrained, and the concern for the issues was taken care of on the bill, but not with what we deemed a real apology. First, and worst, my wife had the steak and eggs with a side of hollandaise and crispy hash browns. The steak was ordered medium rare. I had the monumental combo with chicken sausage, pancakes and crispy hash browns. I also added a side of bacon. I had one of their fresh squeezed juice and it was good, but filled with blackberry seeds and nearly impossible to drink without a mouthful. Straining would be recommended. This would have been okay, but getting a refill of water never happened. Now, breakfast starts to arrive, in pieces and over about 5 minutes of time. It took longer to get eating because we had no silverware and we actually started eating what we could with our fingers. The steak was overcooked and looked 'off'. We made mention once we could track down a server (not ours) and it was remade. It came out near rare, but you could hardly tell as the meat was grayish in tint. My chicken sausage was cold in the center and had a bad flavor as well. They offered to recook, but I refused as the first plate came out 5 minutes after the rest of meal. The bacon was overdone and so crispy, it was hard to eat. The pancakes were just okay and did not have a great maple flavor and neither did the syrup. The hash browns were the best item and at least put something in our bellies and my eggs (scrambled) were decent. The hollandaise finally arrived after we had returned the steaks and when we finally wanted to leave, what we believe was the owner or manager (the other server we saw) came over and the. The Maple Tree is a must try if you are in the area. It is the cutest little brunch place and we really enjoyed coming here. It was so worth the wait. On that note, however, I would highly recommend getting here early, especially if you are coming on a weekend. We had to wait about 60 minutes for a group of 5. There aren't that many other options in the area, so everyone must flock to it. When we sat down, we ordered our coffee first. The coffee is outstanding. I ordered the regular coffee with cream and sugar, but the rest of my group got the specialty coffee. That was delicious as well. The inside décor is super cute. Everything is mismatched and rustic; a perfect place to get brunch. We ordered the donuts for the table. They were fluffy and delicious. We got the maple bacon and goat cheese which is kind of unique, but tasted so good. For the entrée, our entire table ordered the crab cake benedict. Cute decor rarely makes up for poor experiences. I've given this restaurant two chances - fully open to the first subpar experience being a one off. The second experience I had will more than likely be my last. The chicken and biscuits came out cold at first bite. The gravy appeared to be yesterday's and was separating as I ate. The chicken was very hot - but to my surprise I was sawing through a tendon. The pepper bacon was very crispy and the best part of the whole 2 hour experience. YUM!! Their food was amazing. There was a 20-25 minute wait when we walked it, so we grabbed a drink at the bar. The blackberry basil mimosa was so delicious and refreshing. Very flavorful. We ended up only having to wait about 15 minutes or so. I got the banging breakfast tacos and they were sooo good! So much flavor and you could tell they use fresh ingredients. I wish I lived closer, so I have it for breakfast all the time. I would definitely make the hour drive just to come here! The decor was cute, modern farmhouse and the atmosphere was great.
