The maple is an awesome local spot. The service has always been excellent. It's not huge inside though so if it's prime time, expect a bit of a wait. Really creative cocktails. I'd give The Maple a 3.5! I have been here several times for brunch and happy hour. I like how their menu is simple and seasonal. Food and service are pretty good as well with reasonable prices. It is a smaller space but still can accommodate groups. Most recently I came here for brunch and ordered the two egg breakfast. The sausage wasn't that great and the toast didn't come with butter or jam. I also got tazo earl grey tea for $3.5. I liked the roasted potatoes though! My friend got the breakfast burrito which looked good and I have ordered in the past. When the weather is nice there is also an outside seating area. It is a solid neighborhood spot that I recommend. There is nothing in particular that makes it stand out in a spectacular way. Worth stopping by if you're ever in the Maple Leaf neighborhood. read more

Love the outdoor seating on a summer evening (though mosquitoes drove us out after sunset). The is a lot of space, mostly shaded picnic tables. The menu prices look really high ($25 for a burrata+hummus appetizer), but it was delicious and such a big plate that it was dinner for two. Can't say about the other menu items. Big con - I really disliked their QR code ordering - their wifi wasn't working well, so the page would freeze and orders sometimes didn't get in. The whole thing was confusing when it was frozen on their end, but looked like it was partially working on the web page. There were several times we ordered a round of drinks that didn't come for a long time until we realized the order hadn't gone through. Plus, after all these years, I still find it confusing to look at one long string of menu items on my tiny phone screen. Please bring back paper menus! The worst part of the QR ordering in this case is that if you sit outdoors, it's really difficult to ask questions - you have to wait for someone to come out to drop off food for another table, then grab them. Friendly wait staff helped my party as soon as we walked in the door. We were seated quickly next to a wood burning fire place providing a cozy atmosphere on this chilly and rainy day. The portion wasn't overwhelming that, even before you started eating, you're already full. Let me start by saying nothing in this review is about the service staff - they are all friendly and attentive. The food is also generally good, but over the course of the last year, we have watched as the owners nearly double the price of some items (while reducing the quality and size). The burrata platter is a good example - at the dish's inception, it cost $17 or $18 for two large balls of burrata, and wide variety of accoutrements on a large wooden board. Since then, each iteration has seen a reduced amount of both burrata and crudite (and now on a board half the size) while the price has greatly increased (it's now $29). read more

This converted house has plenty of space inside and outside for dining. I enjoyed their POS system where you order from the table on your phone and could update and add to it whenever you preferred. The drinks were great and their cocktails looked amazing. Food wise I enjoyed the burger I ordered as well as a few of their appetizers. The only miss was the chicken sandwich which came out only partially breaded and extremely dry and overcooked. Service was fine considering we are still coming out of covid. They do ask you to bus your own table if you sit outside though. read more

We happened upon The Maple on NYE. Perfect outdoor set up--completely open, but covered. Most powerful outdoor heater at our table--even took hat and coat off briefly! There is also an outdoor handwashing station. Super impressed with all the precautions they've taken. Steak frites with truffle salt were delish. That blue cheese butter--I mean really! My date appreciated the fried chicken sandwich so much--I didn't even get a bite. Celery gin and tonic is a winner. Tonic and bitter celery were the perfect match. Equal parts cozy and refined, The Maple gets my 5 stars because the food and drinks are standouts, and it has warm, look-you-in-the-eyes, welcoming service. Smiles are generously dispensed alongside those great drinks, and if there is a better clam dish in Seattle, call me. The setting is a slightly threadbare bungalow, in the most charming of ways, and the bar is gorgeous. This is not a slick, minimal, light-wood-and-concrete kind of place -- Seattle has enough of those. The menu is small but ingredients are high quality and there was obvious thought and creativity put into the menu. Some (if not all?) of the foods they use are locally sourced and/or housemade. I have been frequenting this spot for about a year now and I have witnessed first hand some major changes for the better. My first experience (last winter) was nothing to write home about. The food was obviously heated from a frozen bag and the service was average. It was the cocktail menu that kept my interest for returning. A few months later, I over heard one of the waitresses talking about how they had hired a new Chef who had a decade of experience working with a variety of cooking styles. My interest was peaked. The next meal I ordered there was such an improvement. I could tell this new Chef had eliminated the frozen bar food quality and was implementing all fresh ingredients. The food was presented beautifully...it was still just the same old,regular, run-of-the-mill "bar" menu they had before, but one that actually tasted good. My thoughts are that this new Chef needed time to teach the staff how to prep food properly and probably needed to upgrade the staff a bit to be able actually cook (instead of ripping open a bag) before they could begin upgrading the menu with new dishes. As the weeks went by, I started hearing praises around the neighborhood from people who had tried new specials The Maple Bar was running that week. I came in for brunch and tried the Chicken and Waffles. I was PLEASANTLY surprised by how much flavor every bite had. I continue to see quality food coming out of this kitchen. This Chef has transformed The Maple Bar into a quality seattle restaurant. The decor has changed, as well! Over the last few months, this place has been so busy that it's hard to even get a table (at any hour of the day, 7 days a week!). I'm so impressed by the transformation! I'm half a mind to wonder if Gordon Ramsey is hiding behind the scenes back there after saving this restaurant from failure. A fantastic neighborhood restaurant. My husband and I went on a date night here, just a few blocks from our house. They've changed owners over the last few years many times but now they really seem to have found more of a groove with the menu. The crab spaghetti is phenomenal at $16. All the glasses of wine I've tried here have been great. The happy hour features $2 off a daily cocktail and a discount on beer/wine and appetizers. They have great cocktails. The atmosphere is my favorite part, a cozy, homey old house with a sweet bar. They get busy on Friday evenings, I arrived around 5 and barely got the last available indoor table. The deck and beer garden are fun in the summer, however you have to order food and drinks at the bar, which can be somewhat cumbersome, plus it's a different menu. I would hope someday they will take orders in the beer garden and not make everyone order at the counter. read more

We are pretty foodie, so maybe had higher expectations after reading the good reviews. Clams didn't have much flavor, Brussel sprouts were oily and wet, and my very first time I had to return one dish which was a cup of smoke salmon soup. It was waaaay too salty. I love salt but that soup would make everyone's blood pressure way up high!!! So salty. I was very disappointed with this place. I've been to The Maple about a dozen times since they've opened and am always happy with my visit. Last night, we ordered take out (as we all are nowadays) via their website. I had the sheperd's pie which game with green beans and tomatoes. It was seasoned perfectly and the mash on top was thick, smooth and complemented the meat and veggies underneath. It was topped by a delicious crusty croquette. My wife had the fried chicken sandwich (which she devoured so quickly I barely got to sample) and the truffle fries. Both were packed well for takeout (even the sheperd's pie!). While we didn't get drinks this time, I highly recommend their house-made cocktails, as they've never disappointed.
