She left behind a 5-year-old daughter, who lived in a rental property managed by Progress Residential with her father after she passed. The father did not pay the rent even though we provided him with funds to do so and fled the home, leaving our granddaughters' and daughter's personal belongings behind. The father left the child with her grandparents and disappeared, knowing he was soon getting evicted. When trying to obtain our grandchild's property, Progress Residential decided we could not have access and stated that these personal items, our daughters' and granddaughters ' belongings, would be thrown out in a few weeks. I have provided the company with her death certificate and other documents, but as my daughter did not have a will, they are making me file with the court. I now have to fly to Arizona, file with the court, and wait 6 months or more for access to a baby blanket, an urn necklace, Christmas ornaments, and sentimental mementos that are of no value, but are priceless to me and my grandaughter, even after repeatedly asking for any option to ensure my daughter's remains and every physical memory my granddaughter has left of her mother is not lost forever, including walking through with a representative of the company and my granddaughter to get these small things. Their replies are cold, absolutely immoral, and ridiculous. What are they losing by giving us these small things instead of throwing them out after the father never comes to retrieve them by a certain date? Not to mention that I had to call back every day just to get an email telling me to contact them, which has left me with less than a week to file paperwork I didn't even know I would need. They are literally trying to make it impossible for us, for no legal reason other than spite.

Guess what, the sprinkler system doesn't work. Filed a ticket, claimed someone came by and the sprinkler system was never repaired. We had Ants, and the rental agency stated, " That's your problem, deal with it", even though the City of Surprise states in their laws that rental agencies are responsible for pest control, and it took a threat to sue to get someone to take care of it. Next up, dishwasher wouldn't clean or dry, and according to the leasing agency, that is considered "workable", although the law states workable means it does the job it is designed to do. Filed a Protected Notice of Breach of Lease and threats of rent withholding finally got them to replace a dishwasher that was too old. We had smoke detectors that were beeping at random, took them in total 3 MONTHS to replace, dragging their feet, in clear violation of the law that states in Arizona Landlords have to make sure the dwelling is safe. Guess what, I sent another BREACH OF LEASE NOTICE. They finally replaced all the smoke detectors with new ones, and the maintenance guy stated that was what they should have done in the first place. 5 days later: MY LEASE IS NOT RENEWED! That is Retaliation and the law sees it that way. This place puts itself above the law, lets you die in case of a fire because they're too cheap to replace faulty smoke detectors. This place needs to lose its license and closed down; they are a DANGER TO SOCIETY.
