I am sad that it took me this long to find a quality, delicious croissant in Southern Maine. This is not your average bakery. This is the kind of spot where you take one bite and immediately go quiet because your brain is trying to process how something can taste that good. Each piece is a little work of art! They had these tiny chocolate creme tarts/pie with mango coulis and wow. An absolute dream. Everything we tried was next-level--light, flavorful, not overly sweet, and clearly made with serious skill. The pastries have that authentic European feel where quality and technique come first, not just sugar overload. I am proud to say that I indulged in their croissants and chocolate creme TWICE this weekend. Totally worth it. Biddeford is lucky to have this place. Go visit, your mouth will thank me. Pro tip: go early... because once people figure this out, good luck getting your hands on anything by noon.

With an impending storm coming I think some people stocked up to enjoy some delicious pastries while being snowed in. You step foot into the small yet well set up shop and are instantly looking at the pastries for offer. After the breakfast pastries you will find cases of other pastries and cakes and lastly bon bons and truffles. They do have a small amount of seating/tables if you must eat your goodies right away. My wife and I each grabbed something to bring home and enjoy a little later since we had breakfast nearby. My wife got their Tres Leche cake and absolutely loved it. While I got the Black Forest Petit Gâteau, that was perfectly rich yet balanced out and was good til the last bite. These two treats impressed us and now we know the quality this shop makes and look forward to coming back and trying more.

But the strawberry rhubarb pie - OMG- was out of this world! It came ready to bake, so when we took it out of the oven, it was hot, the crust was flaky and crispy, and the strawberry rhubarb filling was heaven! Especially when served up with some local homemade French vanilla ice cream. I wish I had taken a picture, but we were too busy devouring it! This pie is literally summer on a plate. I came in for cupcakes (which I got) but the cake jar also caught my eye. I bought a vanilla cupcake and a chocolate peanut butter cupcake for my BF. He said it was really good. So was the cupcake. I'm a frosting addict and Sweet Sunrise has some of the best I've ever had. Not too sweet but the perfect amount of sugary texture. (I really hope that makes sense) Now back to the cake jar...it was amazing! There was a very moist blue cake, more of that amazing frosting, chocolate chips, and edible cookie dough. It's so cute and deliciously decadent and rich. They also have a great variety of items: cookies, mini cakes, cake pops, fudge, and multiple cupcake choices. And as sweet as all of the baked goods were, the service was even sweeter. The person who helped me was patient and kind. This place feels a little magical.

My family has been making whoopie pies for decades and every time I go to Maine, we try to find pies that remind us of the ones that we make! It made my stomach rumble immediately! We picked out 6 whoopie pie balls to share. While I wouldn't exactly call them "whoopie pies" they were very good. We tried a few different flavors and all of them were tasty. We also tried the chocolate covered cookie dough bites ! Today was finally that day we did. Street parking nearby was easy and while not busy it had friendly patrons who were hitting it off and making friends, showing it to be a friendly inviting space. The staff greeted us right away with a smile. We came down for the Mocha Madness event they were doing. My wife loves mocha so it was a no brainer. For this week they have 8 different mocha drinks available and each is going head to head bracket style and winners are based on sales. Great concept and many great flavors to pick from. My wife ended up picking the Rose Mocha and I got the Hazelnut Mocha. If we were more local we would have made a plan to try them all and actually determine our favorite of the 8. We also grabbed a bag of coffee beans to enjoy at home! They also had a local candle maker selling his candles so a great example of local supporting local.
