She was absolutely lovely to work with! Very responsive to emails and phone calls, and super flexible and helpful with pairing flavors for us. She made a variety of mini-cupcakes and frostings for our tasting and each were delicious--even the margarita cake! As someone who does not like chocolate, I would have eaten the chocolate ganache frosting with gusto. We ended up choosing traditional flavors: red velvet with cream cheese frosting for the bottom (12") and top (6") tiers as well as vanilla with chocolate ganache for the middle (8"). We had just shy of 60 guests at our wedding and were able to take the entire top tier home. She understood the type of design we wanted for our cake (very simple and clean, which required the use of fondant). Our guests enjoyed the taste, though they thought it was "a bit sweet" (probably due to the fondant). The style was what was in my head but not executed as cleanly as I would have liked--in the days before Pinterest, brides didn't have 1,000 images to show their baker, after all--but I was still happy with the price, taste, and service and would recommend her to friends. I'm pleased to see that she now has her own storefront. I have yet to visit, but plan to rectify that soon.

I…read morehave seen stuff about their cakes through social media and they looked good, just never made our way here. That changed after seeing their limited time Biscoff Cookie Butter flavored cake. My wife and I really wanted to try this flavor. Located in the busy Scarborough Walmart plaza area. Located right next to Jersey Mike's with plenty of parking nearby. Walking inside you will instantly have your eyes catching all of the delicious looking Bundt cakes staring back. They have a huge variety of flavors available including the Biscoff speciality and another limited flavor "New-Fashioned Marble". Due to wanting to try both of the limited flavors we decided to grab one of each of their smaller sized cakes aptly named Bundtlets. The staff member was friendly and it took no time to receive the cakes. Gladly we were able to enjoy the cakes once we got home and they were great! Both cakes were excellently made and the smaller sized ones were perfect to enjoy with no leftovers. The frostings used leaned quite sweet so for larger cakes it maybe would have been too much. They are limited flavors but if either one sounds tempting to you make your way here before they go away! Look forward to returning in the future to try out more flavors. Worth giving a try!

Especially when served up with some local homemade French vanilla ice cream. I wish I had taken a picture, but we were too busy devouring it! This pie is literally summer on a plate. My family has been making whoopie pies for decades and every time I go to Maine, we try to find pies that remind us of the ones that we make! We came across Auntie's House in our search and knew that we needed to try their whoopie pie balls. Upon entering the bakery, we were enveloped in the scent of warm chocolate cake. It made my stomach rumble immediately! We picked out 6 whoopie pie balls to share. While I wouldn't exactly call them "whoopie pies" they were very good. We tried a few different flavors and all of them were tasty. We also tried the chocolate covered cookie dough bites ! We stopped at Bar Harbor Cheesecake for a unique treat. First of all the ambiance is elegant and quite different from the Dock Square area. They are a cheesecake business, but I think they serve wine as well. However all of the cheesecakes are in wine refrigerators with chill lighting so you totally feel like you are in a wine bar. Great vibe! After close examination we picked the blueberry lemon ( and a phenomenal cinnamon roll). This might be the best cheesecake I've ever had. The flavor was BURSTING with every bite! Definitely pricey, but worth it to experience.

It happens. You're…read moresitting at home, on an off peak season Sunday night, and you get a craving... the old sweet tooth kicks in, and given the day, the hour, and the time of year, you know your options to satisfy that sweet urge are going to be slim to nil. I mean, after 9pm even the grocery stores with their "meh" bakeries are closed. What I did was open Yelp!, and expand my search area a little, and I''m glad I did... because it turns out, Portland isn't the only option for foodies (or in this case, "munchies") in Maine. Because there's a little coastal town just a bit south called "Kennebunk". I know. It sounds completely made-up, but I assure you, it's a real place. So, even though I was born and raised in Maine, and I've never heard of this oddly named little town that sounds like a cross between a manufactured tourist trap and a summer warehouse facility for political dynasties... I was kind of amazed by the Yelp restaurant listings... Portland gets all the "foodie Buzz" in the press, but it looks like some of the spots in and around this Kennebunk could seriously give Portland's reputation a run for its money. I think some summer outings are in my future. But I digress... Once I filtered the returns by hitting the "Open Now" button, Bar Harbor Cheesecake popped up, front and center. They've got an hours of operation befitting a fictional business in a made-up town... 11:11am - 11:11pm...?!? C'mon... that's just a joke... it must be... open on a Sunday night... after 6pm... in April... in Maine...?!? It's TRUE. it's all True. I made the 20-some odd mile drive, expecting nothing but a "Ha Ha!" Sign taped to the window of an abandoned storefront... But what I got instead was a friendly (if somewhat lonely), helpful staffer who greeted me warmly, asked if it was my first time, and then guided me through the offerings. For the record, I went with the "Blueberry Crumble Cheesecake", and not just because it was the most expensive thing on offer, but because when you find yourself at an improbable time, in an unlikely spot, with seemingly unattainable desires, you go BIG. Indulge. Swing for fences, go for broke, break the bank, go the extra mile.... And have "Dessert for Dinner": Because you're an adult, and you deserve it. as for the cheesecake...? O. M. G. Is it the best I've had...? Dunno. But I can't remember ever having better. It was also filling enough that I only ate half and had the rest the next morning with coffee... it was still great the next day, btw. Frankly, at that point I was starting to see it as "good value for money". FWIW, there are a handful of Bar Harbor Cheesecakes sprinkled around the country, so maybe keep an eye out for them... Barring that, this one is definitely worth checking out... the only downside was I kind of had to hustle to get to a coffee place before they all closed... (FWIW: Aroma Joes in Saco was open until 11pm, so Win-Win for Me...!!!)
