Not great business practices. Tried to contact numerous times about a cake in a timely manner. No response from owner. Good cakes though.

After having some of the bread prior to our meals at a few restaurants, we found out the bread is locally sourced at a sister business right around the corner from where ate the night before. There is parking avail for customers in the lot for 30 mins, we prob waited about 20 mins and crossed the threshold into baked goods heaven. There was so much to select from - we got pastries, cookies, pizza and bread - and we pretty much liked everything. Our least favorite was the morning bun with walnuts - we didn't have it right away so that might've been part of the issue. Just note that the bread served at the restaurants aren't available until 2pm - we were leaving that morning so we weren't going wait for it. We opted for other loaves instead and they didn't disappoint. If you want something yummy and fresh - make sure to stop by here before heading out of Portland. I do wish the setup was a bit more conducive to the big crowds as there isn't much space from the front door to the counter but still a fantastic find!

On a Saturday morning at 8am it was mostly breakfast items, with a few lunch-ish items sprinkled in. There are some desserts, but only a handful...perhaps those come out later in the day. Every item in the case has its own little sign so it is very clear what everything is and how much it costs. I love that! I tried one of each flavor of the onigiri, the blueberry tart, the lemon ricotta tart, strawberry rhubarb danish, and the cinnamon bun. Honestly...everything was so delicious, so fresh, so unique. The flavors in each item were special in some way, definitely not your typical Panera baked goods...definitely a notch above. Will be back for sure

The person that helped me was so sweet and kind. Smiling, helpful, and helped me select an entire box of goodies to take home. I got a quiche that was savory and delicious. But my favorite treat was the twice baked chocolate almond croissant. It was amazing. The ANZAC was good. Ana I can't remember the other goodies I tasted.

The honey rosemary guest star was a favorite. The Maine Sea Salt with their herbed cream cheese was also impeccable. I'm here for a few more days, and plan to visit as much as I can. Scratch Baking Co. in South Portland makes the best bagels I've had outside of the Tri-State area--hands down. The texture is unreal: plush and chewy on the inside with that perfect crusty exterior that gives the ideal bite. The salt bagel is my go-to (flaky, briny, perfection), but the Montreal spice and salt combo changed my life. Seriously, try it. They've got a unique setup too--grab your bagels and then choose a "rip and dip" style tub of cream cheese (about $2 each). Two bagels plus two cream cheeses came out to around $8--great quality and value. Beyond bagels, they've got sweet pastries, breakfast sandwiches, and a bunch of local Maine goodies. Definitely plan to come back every time I'm in Portland. Service was also very helpful and friendly to help you navigate as a tourist. Pro tip: there are two locations, they're closed Tuesdays, and parking on the street can be a bit tricky--so plan ahead. But the bagels are 100% worth the effort.

On this trip, we stopped at the smaller West End shop the night we arrived, then visited the Portland Bayside location the next morning. We picked up a medium pumpkin pie, a bourbon pecan pie, and an individual blueberry pie for a relative. The blueberry pie was excellent--made with real Maine blueberries and a perfectly flaky crust. I usually go for their sweet pastries, but the cheddar scallion biscuit was a standout: melt-in-your-mouth delicious. The large peanut butter cookie was soft in the center and very tasty. Service at both locations was friendly and helpful. The West End shop has a small seating area, while Bayside offers more tables and (I think) a counter with stools. We got everything to go since we were visiting family up north. They do serve coffee, and note they're closed Monday and Tuesday. We'll definitely be back next time we're in Portland.

My partner was able to pick up a birthday pie right before closing, they were so sweet to let him in minutes before. We later realized it was a blueberry pie instead of the apple pie. I called first thing the next morning, and Jamie was so kind and helpful! She immediately set aside an apple pie for us to pick up. The pie was absolutely delicious and the service turned what could've been a frustrating experience into such a positive one. Highly recommend Two Fat Cats Bakery for all your pie needs! They truly care about their customers.
