Everything cool, right? Well, it turns out, no. I came in today since I was in the area to double check if I was on the list and was not. They completely forgot to add me in and the list was so long, it was highly unlikely I would get the decks I pre-ordered. They told me it would be best to go to another shop to order and was not at all apologetic about the mishap. In fact, there were no apologies made. I really wanted to support a local card shop but the lack of accountability and the poor customer service makes it very difficult to do so. I won't be back.

The place is always buzzing, tables full without any beer, With card battles and games happening year round here. Whether you're a seasoned player or just tagging along, The energy makes it feel like you somehow belong. My kid is obsessed with Pokémon, that much is true, this is one of the few places with booster packs to browse through. Unlike Target, where the shelves are usually bare, Versus almost always has something waiting there. They've also got rare Pokémon cards displayed with pride, Though those prices send this parent's wallet into hiding inside. Maybe someday we'll splurge but today we'll just stare, And dream about adding a Charizard to our collection with flair. The drink/snack selection is small, but it does the trick, Keeping gamers fueled through matches that move lightning quick. Whether you're hunting Pokémon packs or rolling the dice for fun, Versus Games is worth a visit, even if you don't know what's going on.

There is a main section and also a small walkway that connects to the building next door with more books. It's set up with comfortable sofas and chairs for people that want to hand out and read. They have a large children's selection of books and toys, my kids wanted some of the lego sets they had. In this section I ended up spending the most amount of time in the "Where's Waldo" section. There were so many new books that I didn't know existed and our old childhood books we passed to our kids are some of their favorites. Some other notable areas are a "rare books" section in the display case with handwritten tidbits. There is also a discounted "used books" section. My wife ended up with two books which she loved.

That's my rule: if I step into a game or comic shop, I have to buy something. It's a hard habit to break at this point. From the outside, the store looks massive -like it might contain the multiverse. But once inside, the retail selection isn't quite as big as it appeared to be. BUT... it's got great stuff. Solid board game options. Plenty of space for RPGs and card games. It's the kind of store that's clearly built around social gatherings and play. Spacious and not cramped. A rare find in a city setting. There's an upstairs and downstairs, but those seemed more dedicated to table games you can meet up and play rather than shopping, so I didn't explore too much. The staffer working was friendly and helpful. She even checked if they had the new Monster Manual. Unfortunately, they didn't. That was a letdown. I mean, it's been out for months. If a game store doesn't carry the NEW core D&D books, especially right after a new edition drops, it stings a bit. They had plenty of the original 5e, but not the new. Still, I wasn't leaving empty-handed. Picked up a slick set of dice and the softcover Pathfinder 2E Monster Core Pocket Edition. Gotta support the cause. Overall? I'm glad I found the place. It's a real hangout spot. Honestly, throw in some coffee and comfy chairs, and I'd post up there for hours. Coffee and dice----- it just works right? So far I've only shown up to do painting night (with a completely unrelated craft project, cuz I was accompanying my partner), and everyone I've met through the store's (very organized) Discord server has been lovely and inviting. Diana was also happy to let me know about their weekly D&D night. Only con is probably that if you're more interested in the board games side of games, there's a decent but relatively small selection compared to other game stores in the area. But I'll definitely keep coming back for the warm service and cool community.
