I recently started learning Magic the Gathering and was nervous to walk-in and ask questions about how to get started. I met Paxton (manager) who was very welcoming, helpful and informative! They have a wide selection of cards, manga, figurines and so much more! HIGHLY recommend coming here if you're new to learning card games, a veteran in card games and/or for all your other needs! read more

Note: I didn't get a chance to purchase anything or play any games, so this review just on the vibe and store. The store was very well lit, and there were may options to look at. The people playing magic seemed to be playing commander and everyone looked to be enjoying themselves. the store looked like its been there for a while, could def use some updates however the selection of board games was pretty good. They had more boardgames than cards, card sleeves, etc. The interactions ive heard from the people purchasing items seemed like the services was good. I dont think value was worth it, I saw a lot of booster packs way overpriced which is disappointing but I understand. read more

First time visiting while in the neighborhood and I got excited seeing the Gundam TCG poster as I've been on the hunt for them for a good while (Collecting the pretty art). I was greeted by the employee, but the rest of our interaction was mostly dismissive as he can tell I wasn't a regular. Me: "Do you have - " Him: "No." Me: ".." Him: "Oh, I thought you were going to say One Piece TCG.. we don't sell to scalpers." Me: "Makes sense...I'm looking for Gundam TCG, do you have freedom ascension?" Him: "Players only." Me: "I don't know how to play, but I just like collecting the cards;" Him: "Players only..Gundam Tournaments on Saturdays 4pm" One of their regular customers came by and said he had an extra Gundam deck if I wanted to try, I really would've wanted to, but the interaction with that employee discouraged me from staying in the store any longer or attending their weekend tournaments. read more

I was in the area recently and decided to stop by because I wanted to support a local business. My daughter loves Magic: The Gathering and Pokémon cards, and I'm a big comic book fan, so I was excited to check out a local shop that seemed like it could be a place we would enjoy visiting. Unfortunately, the experience was extremely disappointing. When we walked in, we were greeted by a young man working there. I asked him a simple question: "Do you know when Batman Day is?" I asked because I'm a longtime Batman fan and was genuinely interested in upcoming Batman releases. (This conversation is going on with my 12yr old daughter was browsing near by) His response was essentially, "How would I know?" I explained that I was asking because I'm a Batman fan, and that I understood Batman Day is associated with the release of new Batman comics, "Batman of Two Worlds." Instead of having a conversation with a customer who was clearly interested in comics, he responded by saying that he wouldn't know because "nobody gives a shit about DC." I was honestly taken aback. First, I had just told him that I was a Batman fan. Second, this is a comic and trading-card store. If a customer walks in and asks about a major comic-related event or an upcoming Batman release, I would expect at least some basic knowledge or, at the very least, a willingness to help find the answer. What bothered me most wasn't simply that he didn't know the answer. Nobody can know everything. It was the dismissive and disrespectful attitude toward a paying customer who was genuinely interested in the products the store sells. Even if DC isn't personally his favorite, there was absolutely no reason to tell a customer that "nobody gives a shit about DC" especially in front of a 12yr child. Comments like that can make someone feel unwelcome, especially when they're coming into a local business specifically because they want to support it. I also don't know whether this person was the owner or an employee, but either way, the interaction left a very poor impression of the business. If you work in retail especially a specialty shop built around people's hobbies and passions customer service and enthusiasm should be a big part of the experience. You don't have to like every character, publisher, or product, but you should respect the customers who do. I came in thinking this could be a place where I could shop with my daughter, look at Pokémon and Magic cards, browse comics, and potentially become a regular customer. Instead, I walked out wondering why I should support a business where the person behind the counter seems so dismissive of the very customers they're trying to attract. I genuinely hope this was an isolated interaction and that the owner takes this kind of feedback seriously. Local businesses deserve support, but customers also deserve to be treated with basic courtesy and respect. If you hate your job or have no interest in the customers and products you're representing, retail probably isn't the right place for you. As we were leaving, even my 12 year-old daughter asked me why was that person so rude and that speaks volumes coming from a kid. read more

Just avoid this place. Just do it. I will never return to this store again. Aside from being a stagnant store with dead dusty product, their staff are rude and unprofessional. Says online there is a RCQ, I message them online and call them no answer. I show up after driving a long distance/toll and the answer I get is "oh sorry" then proceeds to heat up food. So I ask do you know when it'll be and the reply is "oh I don't know, I'm just the guy who works here." No kidding you work here and should be informed or at least call boss to figure it out, especially after I just said I traveled a long distance. More concerned about with heating up a burrito than helping a customer. Well at least the beach is nearby with Taco bell cantina. Do yourself a favor and go there. read more

If you are fan of card games, collectible figurines, comic books, anime and other pop culture related items , this is where you want to be. Came in for an event, it was my first time participating in a live card tournament. It was really fun and challenging. Many participants were veteran players but everyone was very accommodating and very open to share knowledge. The store has large tables to host big card events. Many in San Francisco is very small and uncomfortable especially with body heat and B.O. Not here, feel free to spread out. I picked up a couple of really cool items and can't wait to display these bad boys at home. I will come back for my future purchase and can't wait to participate in another event. read more

Really cool vibe. Friendly and helpful staff. Hosts games, although I'm not sure which ones; I'm assuming Magic the Gathering, but hopefully if they don't already, they consider expanding to other card games and/or even board games like Pokemon, Disney, D&D or Settlers. They also have a good variety of comics (not really huge wide selection, but big enough) and some collectibles on sale. Hope this store continues to be successful and will gladly support them when I have shopping needs. read more

Stopped by for the first time and asked for some cards and this white buddy boy employee told me that I came at a bad time and he had a lot of orders and can't help me. I just browsed around and this guy was talking to another person about magic the whole time. Either help me or take care of your damn orders so you can help customers that actually made an effort to stop by! read more

Had a lot of creepy customers in here, unfortunately had to cut our duration in here short because of them. Air circulation wasn't too good unfortunately, as it was stuffy and stinky inside. Prices were marked up very expensive too. read more

Its nice to have a comic book store around since there aren't many left, and I've been going here for years now. But I noticed lately its a lot more unorganized, some shit seems just thrown onto the shelf and the place could definitely use some dusting. I asked to get a figure from higher up on the shelf and the damn thing had like, an inch of dust on it. It was clear they just throw shit on shelves and sit around. One dude just sat on a chair in a corner, spacing out or something, when he could have been doing something more productive like cleaning up the damn place or talking to customers (I came with family and I think I saw a couple other people in there) So, it has some nice merchandise, but could definitely be more organized, cleaner, and have employees who gave more of a shit read more

First time visitor as I was heading through the area. I submitted an order online and saw I could submit an order online for Magic the Gathering singles. I submitted and showed up before the order was ready which was my fault on that one. Paxton was extremely helpful and pulled the order quickly for me which I appreciated. I would highly recommend this business and will definitely visit again next time I'm in the area. Next time I'll submit my card order ahead of time. read more

Home of Anime, Games and more galore. This is a store you're going to be shopping in for a while. They've got everything you can think of, from model paints to the latest comics and a lot of manga in-between. If they don't have it, trust me, they can find it. Aside from having a huge playspace to hang out and relax. They also have a parking lot and a great restaurant in the same shopping center! If you're looking for your next hobby, Pokemon battle, or favorite book. Anime Imports will make it happen! read more

Anime Imports is the place to go for Magic The Gathering cards in the San Francisco Bay Area. A fully stocked selection of packs and accessories from booster packs of Innistrad to Ultra Pro card sleeves and deck boxes and on and on and on. Best of all, Anime Imports has an enormous selection of INDIVIDUAL CARDS at the lowest prices. Commons are usually about 0.10 each! Wow! Best deal in town. They have a very full and impressive selection of individual cards to meet all your deck's needs. They have official events throughout the week. Come play Magic in a safe, friendly, comfortable environment. Check the website for event days and times. Staff is friendly and can actually talk about the game with you to help you out. Everything a Magic player needs under one roof. I've been going to nearly every card store in the Bay Area to feed my Magic addiction. Places like Gator Games and Gamescape are great, but LIMITED in what they offer. I usually have to make several trips to different stores just to get what I need. Not anymore! Anime Imports is currently #1 on my list. read more

This place is in a great location that has PLENTY of parking. Even better is that they have a restroom, close to other food shops (hello pizza!) and have friendly staff. I generally go here for Magic. If you are into the card game - this is a great location for you. They have draft on Tuesday and Friday nights. Standard on Friday and Sunday afternoon. League everyday with a good number of opponents (mostly on Fridays and Tuesdays before draft!) For those not into Magic, they hold a number of anime merchandise!! They sometimes show something related to anime on their TV monitor on the wall. They have plenty of manga/graphic novels on the shelves for you to peruse along with DVDs. They have adorable plushies (pikachu/totoro/etc) Anime Imports also has a plethora of board games. On Friday evenings they have Blood Bowl. On Saturdays they have a board game day where you can come in and learn new board games! read more

Disorganized events. Store doesn't use official Bandai app for Bandai TCG tournaments.

This is a cute local game shop located in Pacifica. It's not super large but it does have a lot of games and toys that you can buy. It's less anime and more of a general game store in my opinion though. There are a lot of board games like Pandemic, etc. and of course Magic the Gathering. There was an interesting amount of SNES and Gameboy/DS games up front though. read more

just wanna leave a positive feedback for our first time visit, but especially for Paxton (hope i got the name right). answered all our questions, chatted with us as we looked around, never felt pressure to buy anything (we did, love our new sleeves and dice!). overall a great experience, will definitely come back again! read more

I've been going here for years and it's still one of the best places in Pacifica. It's super fun and friendly. There's a ton of space for FNMs and pre-release tournaments. The best part is that you can get credit for your victories. A lot of stores only offer packs, but I don't like buying packs since the odds of getting what you want are usually pretty low. Instead, getting credit allows me to buy what I want. I've been able to get stuff like Wingspan or Summoner Wars: Alliances on credit alone. Plus, the parking is pretty good. Even if the lot is full, you can just park on one of the side streets. It's close to places like Safeway if you need to run and grab a bite to eat between games. I'm still waiting for the pandemic to be over so we can all do pre-releases again. read more

A shadow of its former self. My wife & I have been going here for 30 years. Back when it was known as Coastside Comics. The previous owner, Romi, knew all of his customers by first name. He knew exactly what you were looking for before you even walked through the door. He easily had the best comic book selection on the peninsula. Ever since he sold the business, it's been getting worse & worse. The comic section is a disorganized mess, and they never have the issues we need. And now every time I go in, they act like they've never seen me before. They local feel is gone. Sadly, all the local comic shops are gone, this was one of the last. read more

After a long search for gaming groups and hobby stores in the bay area, i decided to finally take myself to Anime Imports. It was the correct choice. I've been to many gaming stores from LA to Washington and no were has been informative about gaming as the folks over at Anime Imports. Mike was very easy to talk to about gaming. Myself being a new 40k player and mostly new to tabletop in general, he suggested a few groups, with times and dates. He was very knowledgeable about a wide array of games from Magic TG to Arkham Horror to Warhammer Fantasy. The store itself in my opinion is cozy. Its clean and everything is displayed well. They have a nice selection of totoro plushies that i purchased for my girlfriend as well. I am very happy that i made my choice to come in and they now have a customer and i will be sure to tell people i know who game as well. Thank you anime imports. read more

Over the past year, I have gone to 10 different stores in the Northern California Bay Area, and I always recommend this place to my friends. The owner, Mike, goes out of his way to make people feel welcome. He provides free food at several of the tournaments. They have a couple Magic events per day, and several constructed Magic events per week. The prize payouts here are the best of any store I've gone to. The players are very serious/competitive here, so it's a good place to learn how to play better, especially at constructed. The prices on cards here are very good as well (TCGPlayer mid). It takes me a while to drive out here (45 minutes to 1 hour each way) but it's always been worth the trip. read more

Ano...why is this place have the word "Anime" in it? Look I am going to say "Sumimasen" right off the bat to this store because the owner/manager guy seemed friendly enough . I walked in and the smell of many men in closed, cramped , dark quarters overwhelmed me. I have heard of 'man cave 'but come on fellas.. open a window , turn on a light. I scanned the shelves for anime and saw a small section of manga on one side and a very cool Ghaleon puppet from Lunar...and that was it. The rest was War hammer and Magic the gathering stuff. ( Oh wait and some cool SNES carts..SNES love) I may have missed something but the vibe in there was like I walked in on a private party where my X chromosomes were not invited.Their are many tables for card games that you have to move around and it blocks your view of their products. So yeah if you are a Magic player then this place is for you. If you are looking for anime, maybe he can special order it for you or you can go in to S.F. read more

Walked in looking for some Magic The Gathering cards and sleeves the other day. Comfy little card and comic shop with an amazing selection. I liked that they don't charge a lot for common cards. It is really annoying that so many places think they can charge a quarter a common or whatever. I also like that they have the old cards and packs from Worldwake and Zendikar and such. This place gets it, gets the game, and gets my business from now on. Nerd heaven, with its own parking lot. read more

Anime Imports "unfortunately does not have a return policy", which feels frustrating and ungenerous, especially with unopened card sleeves. Also, in my experience, some of the MTG tournaments Anime Imports hosts are not run to an acceptable standard. A few weeks ago, I played in their weekly Wednesday win-a-box, which was run ostensibly without the presence of anyone familiar with basic tournament policy, and was one of the most bizarre tournaments I've ever experienced. In addition to early rounds being allowed to go over time due to the TO's attention being elsewhere, the win-a-box was only three rounds of swiss, which is not enough to guarantee a single undefeated winner from a pool of over eight people. The TO mistakenly confirmed that my round three opponent and I (both 2-0) would be able to split the combined prizes of first and third place if they were to concede, even though there was a third undefeated player. After the paired down 2-0 improved to 3-0 a half-hour later, we had to awkwardly undo that concession and play out an impromptu third round so that one of us could split with them. I've been in here a couple of times this month and I'm not sure if I'll ever be back. This store can really be a hassle that just isn't worth it given the relative quality of stores in the Bay Area. read more
