Never had any issues buying singles, until I came in yesterday. I came in intending to trade some cards for singles, but they didn't have any of the Pokemon singles I wanted. So instead I purchased a Japanese booster box of terastal festival. Was super excited to open these when I got home until I realized upon looking at the first pack that they were fake!! Different color on the yellow of the Pokemon written letters on the box. The "i" character on the top right of the booster box had the white square, but the plastic packs didn't. Some of the text on the back side also didn't match the ones from the original authentic box I have direct from japan. Not to mention the way the cards curved when they opened a pack. Worst part was how the staff handled the issue. Instead of acting shocked and apologetic they were questioning me on how I knew these were fake. They should know!!! If you are selling insanely high priced merch you should know how to do damage control. Not to mention one of the employees opened up a pack and tried to tell me they were real. As if resealed cards don't exist. And before anyone says I could just be coming back with a fake pack and passing it off. I literally bought a second pack in the store and opened it in front of them. The incredibly kind staff set us up at a table with a massive box of $0.10 cards and a box of $1.00 cards. My husband, kids, and I had a blast hunting for our favorite characters, spending an hour and a half browsing before leaving with nearly 200 cards! The shop has a great, spacious layout with plenty of tables (we even saw groups playing board games). Parking is easy, they have a restroom, and the location is highly convenient--situated right next to Starbucks, boba, Dollar Tree, and Kohl's. We will absolutely be back and highly recommend this spot to anyone looking to build their Pokémon collections.

I had preordered a $480 Collector Booster Box over the phone. When I placed the order, I specifically confirmed that the $480 price included tax. When the store later called me back to take my credit card information, I confirmed the same thing again before authorizing the charge. My card was then charged $480. After driving to Redwood City to pick it up today, I was told I owed an additional $48.36 in sales tax. To be clear, my issue was never that sales tax shouldn't be charged. My issue was that I had twice been told that $480 was my tax-inclusive total before the store charged my card. I initially paid the additional amount, reconsidered once I got to my car, and returned the unopened box while I waited more than 30 minutes for the manager, Cole, to arrive so we could resolve it. The conversation that followed was extremely disappointing. Cole initially disputed that I had even placed the order until he eventually located it. Once we established what had happened, I repeatedly explained that I was simply asking the store to honor the total I had been quoted and agreed to pay. I even offered a compromise: charge the additional tax if necessary and give me the $48.36 difference as store credit, which would have guaranteed that money went right back to their business. Instead of approaching the situation as a misunderstanding that needed to be resolved, I was repeatedly told that everyone else had paid the additional tax, and my request was ultimately characterized as an attempt to take advantage of the store. Another manager who had listened to the conversation even interjected to tell me that nobody else had made an issue of paying the additional $48.36. Ultimately, Cole agreed to honor what I had originally been asking for. What made the experience so frustrating was that getting there required a prolonged argument in which I was treated as the problem rather than as a customer trying to resolve a pricing mistake. I make a deliberate effort to support local game stores. They're important third spaces for gaming communities, and I'd much rather spend my money with them than default to Amazon. That's why this experience was particularly disappointing. A pricing mistake would not have caused me to stop shopping at this store. The way it was handled did.

I actually pulled the overframe Super Polymerization. I felt so good about pulling that, I called them again the next day to reserve another box. The lady that picked up let me know they were running low on RA05, but let me know I'd be able to purchase it before the end of the day as she reserved it for me. Sick. So I came by, got the box and six loose booster packs... and pulled a Starlight overframe Shooting Quasar Dragon. I gave the box to my homie, and he wasn't so lucky with his pulls, unfortunately. I haven't been to Lefty's since 2022 (when The Grand Creators and Ghosts from the Past 2 were out), but I intend on returning for new YGO releases. Love their vibe and the pricing on RA05 was pretty fair. I plan to be back again!

But the few times we've come by, the customer service is just not good. We went in when it's slow. My husband was looking at one of the staff looking for help, and the girl was like, "I work here too!" Insinuating that she is also available to help with questions, but maybe not with that attitude is appreciated! Why can't she say "oh, I can help you." But not at all. Definitely off putting. Sometimes I get the feeling they discriminate too, they give you a little attitude for asking questions and not buying. I agree with others that their prices are crazy, especially with them being a local store, they can price things better especially they have a great selection and the location is great. We always try to shop at small mom/pop shops cause we love the uniqueness of the stores and the variety they hold, but this is just not good. The feeling we get going in isn't welcoming and the attitudes, it's not worth it! We may not ever come back and give them business.

Everything cool, right? Well, it turns out, no. I came in today since I was in the area to double check if I was on the list and was not. They completely forgot to add me in and the list was so long, it was highly unlikely I would get the decks I pre-ordered. They told me it would be best to go to another shop to order and was not at all apologetic about the mishap. In fact, there were no apologies made. I really wanted to support a local card shop but the lack of accountability and the poor customer service makes it very difficult to do so. I won't be back.

The agreement when they were here because I recently suffered a stroke was they were gonna send me a check every week for anything that they sold. I don't use Venmo or any other electronic banking system like that. I text Tony Josh is in Texas and ask him what's going on basically? He said he is holding my money from items sold because I have not cashed previous checks and then just a few minutes ago. I received a text from Josh stating they're gonna put everything out on the curb I need to come pick it up. What kind of business is this? Don't trust anything with these people. I think they forget how important customers are to their business. They would not have a business without customers willing to sell their memorabilia. Tony informed me they cannot keep accounting straight because I have not cashed some of my checks. How hard is it to balance a checkbook? I would be very careful on listing any merchandise with these people.!!! I will be taking legal action against this company. They have no right to withhold money and my items from me. No i am really not. I have no problem giving you your money but i do have a problem with you holding the checks and then telling me too bad you will cash when you want so i am now simply going to send you a cashiers check and call it a day. Upon walking in the door, I peeked to my right and saw a magazine rack selling Fangoria. Right on. Also, saw the fella' behind the register and immediately went up to him to ask where the new comics were, as it was a Wednesday. He kind of points to his right and says "It's where the sign for new comics are." I couldn't see it. There were racks in front of where I was standing and that section. I asked so I wouldn't have to wander through the game tables and other merchandise. I was looking for new comics. Thought it was a little rude, but it didn't really bother me. So I get to the new comics section. It's completely unorganized. Or maybe it was organized, but by someone with an OCD disorder that only makes sense to them. Is it that hard to have DC, Marvel, Boom, IDW etc separated nicely to look through the issues by company? It was madness. Also, the comic racks were a bit ramshackle. A lot of the books were bent, worn, and some even looked folded in half when I was looking. I wouldn't buy a six dollar comic for any reason in that kind of condition, considering they were supposed to be "brand new". I continued to look through the stuffed, unorganized shelves to find something to buy as what I was looking for was nowhere to be found. That's fine and I'll get into that in a moment, but I wasn't just/only looking for the "hot" comics right then. Image is always coming out with new number ones that look interesting, and I couldn't find anything. Seriously, I wanted to spend some money, so I'm trying to find absolutely anything. Didn't happen. So, I go back up to the register and just ask about the titles I'm looking for. Every title I ask about I get a two word answer, "Sold Out". Now, this is fair, I was there late and the fellow told me that his patrons are usually coming in around noon and buying the new books up then. Bummer for me. Seems if your stock gets eaten up that quick, you'd order a few more copies of said titles, but I don't know how to run a comic shop. Who knows? Okay, better things. It isn't really my bag, but it seemed like they had a lot of boxes of back issues. I doubt that place is going to let you grab a key issue for cheap, but it's probably worth checking out if you're trying to complete a run. So, that seemed decent. They had a shelf of trades, nothing caught my eye because I either have already read or own the ones I would be interested in, but I suppose it would be worth a look. They were all fairly older, and it didn't seem like they were discounted at all. I did not exactly peruse them to see if that was the case, just seemed that way. That's okay, though because it's far better to support an LCS than just snagging them online. I saw that they had some gaming tables, and some folks were doing just that. It's always a nice addition to a store. I didn't even head in that section, so I have no insight on cool boardgames, RPGs, or card game selection. Could be great. The sign on the outside says "Anime Imports", instead of "CoastsideComics", so maybe that's what they do and comics are just a backseat now. I don't have the option to get there early, so I could have started a pull list and waited a couple of months for that to start getting going. I'm buying about fifteen-eighteen titles a month, but I couldn't get over how they treat their shelved comics, so I decided not to. Conclusion: This is not a store for me. Not organized. About a quarter of the books look like they've been read over and over and kept in someone's back pocket. No way to pop in and get something new after one pm. Register guy was okay, but not very helpful with the slightest touch of...I dunno, it wasn't completely rude, just kind of unwelcoming to an obviously new to this store customer. I tried desperately to find something to buy, and I'm a comic guy! I would have bought anything that looked remotely interesting. Just didn't have anything. I guess that's it.
