I'll be the first to happily proclaim, I don't fully understand everything at Versus Games. Tournaments, open play, strategy galore I just know people keep coming back for more. The place is always buzzing, tables full without any beer, With card battles and games happening year round here. Whether you're a seasoned player or just tagging along, The energy makes it feel like you somehow belong. My kid is obsessed with Pokémon, that much is true, this is one of the few places with booster packs to browse through. Unlike Target, where the shelves are usually bare, Versus almost always has something waiting there. They've also got rare Pokémon cards displayed with pride, Though those prices send this parent's wallet into hiding inside. Maybe someday we'll splurge but today we'll just stare, And dream about adding a Charizard to our collection with flair. The drink/snack selection is small, but it does the trick, Keeping gamers fueled through matches that move lightning quick. It doesn't have to be a holiday for people to start playing reindeer games. There is a game for almost anything like corporation games, political games and fantasy games etc. Most games are played solo and some are played with teammates but you always need an opponent to play. Some games are rigged and some are pay for play like buying bots to inflate social media presence. There is a place which is loaded with game at the Sunset Strip of San Francisco on Taraval and it's called Versus. This place has lots of game. Inside it has lots of tables to engage in a game of cards. They have trading card game events and tournaments competitions .This place also sells trading card games such as Final Fantasy and Pokémon. They also sell beer ( root beer) and 7 up to up your game.Some games are played for high stakes and some play stupid games to win stupid prizes in SF. Some games can be "taught "other games can be "bought " some games are rigged for social media presence by buying followers by the "bot "and according to game theory is all about winning and not getting "caught " Some game are easy others are "hard" and some players don't follow the game rules without "regard" and some gaming strategies are going on the attack mode and some players are put on "guard" the games at Versus are usually played as a board game and most games are played with a trading game" card" read more

I Went in to sell a high end pokemon card and they made me wait until they helped other customers first which I was fine with. After the long wait both workers checked my card briefly and my card was in Light play condition and they said that it was heavy played condition wich was not true and they didn't buy my card very bad first experience at this shop on top of that the 2 employees at the time were rude and gave me weird vibes. read more

Looking for sealed Pokemon products is tough. Scalpers are buying up all the MSRP inventory online and causing drama IRL like the fight/stabbing at GameStop. Because of the increased demand, market price for new product is incredibly high. I visited Versus with my son this week in search for singles or sealed product at a reasonable price. I've been aware of how versus has been providing product to their high spending at MSRP prices. I think it makes sense as a way to garner loyalty to core customers. When I walked in, my son saw a lot of interesting Chinese product on the shelf. I asked about the cost of their English sealed product and it was market-ish priced (high relative to MSRP). I couldn't stomach spending $17 on packs of 151 so I let my son buy a Chinese promo box and we bought two packs of destined rivals. They also have a singles binder with mostly ultra modern chase cards. I wasn't super enthused about the prices, but I understand the Pokemon market is really tough. Card shops need to make money and it's important to have product on the shelf. I realize I probably am not an ideal customer here. I won't be spending thousands to get the promotional pricing offers and wouldn't want to spend 2x+ MSRP for sealed product. It looks like a great place for people who want to play TCGs competitively or are big repeat customers. Just not a good fit for someone like me who wants open packs for less than 150% msrp or buy singles for less than $10. read more

I love coming for the prerelease events as well, as they're well organized, affordable and the other players are friendly and welcoming to newbies and veterans. Why would you shop here? Call at opening to ask if they purchase singles, and you'll be told absolutely, to come on in. Show up 1.5 hours later to be told there's no way they can make any offers, and you'd need to leave your cards for some amount of days. Why waste someone's time? Don't shop here. read more

Went to my first event at Versus Games which was the Schools of Strixhaven prerelease and it went great. People were friendly and the store employees ran the event smoothly. The store does get a bit stuffy but, they did encourage players to go outside in between rounds to cool down. read more

Versus Games is my favorite place to play Magic: the Gathering in the San Francisco Bay Area, and it's the only place I know left with a large stock of singles and games multiple days per week. My favorite part about Versus is the friendly and professional staff, who make big prerelease events a blast for beginners to budding pros. I've been playing there around 10 years. When I was learning, the staff and the other players helped me out. Now that I'm a pro (just kidding!), I enjoy taking time to help the newer players. Collectible card gamers this is your store. Offering a solid variety of products at reasonable prices, they also host tournaments if you like to try your gaming skills. My only issue - difficult to find prices. Nothing is tagged. They claim you can look up prices by scanning a QR code but it just takes you to their website where you have to search and their search engine isn't very good. I tried key words and product names directly and neither worked for any of the Pokémon or Magic products. PRODUCT: Great variety especially of Magic the Gathering and Pokémon TCG. Also well stocked which is not always my experience. A good but not great selection of card accessories. SERVICE: Great! The staff member was really well qualified and friendly. Not the biggest place I've been too but they have everything you need! When you first walk in you notice the tables set up for people to play which takes up majority of the floor space. They have a bunch of pokemon cards, MTG packs, MTG singles and deck boxes and card sleeves. The counter is on the left as soon as you walk in, you'll see the board games, a few toys and the Yugioh cards which is what I came for. Ended up getting a Blazing Vortex box because I wanted to pull some cards to build a deck with and ended up pulling a Starlight Rare! If you plan on coming here frequently to play or buy sealed product they have memberships that give better perks. Looking to come here sometime for an event! Great local spot! read more

I just barely got done visiting this place today and I left in less than 5 minutes. The selection of products is not that great. Some of the products are over priced in comparison to Amazon, Walmart, Target and my local card shops. Their website states it sells Pokemon singles. But no singles were anywhere in sight... Plus, some of the people that were there playing were being very rude and one ended up pushing my girlfriend out of the way to get through to the register without saying "excuse me" at least. Their social media account advertises about having a lot of products that most Pokemon collectors would want and it hypes the shop up which I understand. But the hype was down when I got there. In addition to this, the prices were not listed anywhere. There were QR code scanners that state to "scan for price of product". But as soon as I scanned the code, it just sends me to the home page of their website and I tried typing in the name of the product I was looking at and nothing was in the system. For now, I'm giving this a one star until improvements can be made in the future. read more
