STOP BUYING ON LINE and run to this STORE!!! This is the GREATEST Magic Store EVER! My whole family loves going there. The owner is funny, patient, and really knowledgable. He is also fluent in American Sign Language which is not only AMAZING but makes shopping there and demo-ing tricks soooo much easier for me, since I am deaf. Also the merchandise is reasonably priced. Also I know what I am getting so that I don't get surprised by on-line orders. I can tell that this store is more than a business.. it is a lifelong passion for the owner, which makes shopping there SO MUCH FUN!!! The best magic shop in LA! They have everything you could ever want. They offer lessons as well and are always very helpful when you come in. However, my favorite thing about this place is the community and culture they are building. You can tell if you want to meet some of the local magic scene, this is the place to hangout. I signed up for their mailing list and they send info about lectures they have on site, magic related events around the city and more! They recommend a magic expo that was happening in Burbank that I wouldn't have known was going on otherwise and had an absolute blast! Excellent shop with great service and soooooooo friendly. Their location, upstairs in a Studio City strip mall, isn't the greatest for visibility and street traffic, yet people do find them and that's really great to see. Like most cities, LA has a long history of magic shops that have come and gone over the years. It has to be a tough business even under the best of circumstances. It's so rare to find a great magic store like the Magic Apple these days. We drove about 40 minutes with our daughters to get a few tricks. They've been inspired by 8 year old Issy Simpson from America's Got Talent. We were greeted by Anthony, who was very entertaining. He spent a good amount of time with us showing us a wide variety of age appropriate tricks that were the girls' level. They were dazzled by every trick he performed. He definitely made our experience enjoyable. Steven helped us check out and was very courteous and friendly. We saw seasoned magicians stop in to purchase a few items during our visit. I drove 40 miles to this shop. The staff showed up 15 minutes late to open up. The store had very little on my list of what I wanted . The staff refused to show me an expanded shell I wanted to buy. I explained I had been burned buying one on line and I just wanted to see what I was buying. Staff said" it does what it is suppose to" there where only two customers and staff said he was too busy to help. Very sad read more

I really wanted to give a 5 star review and support a local brick and mortar magic shop but I can't. The owner Brent has horrible customer service and refused to credit me back for not giving me a 10% discount for being a Magic Castle member. I have my receipt and its just 4 days after my purchase was made, but he refused to help me in any way. I told him that it didn't have to be a monetary compensation (equal to $10) and that I am willing to accept what they are willing to offer and he told me no. I told him that that is way out and that I couldn't believe it and he said "cool". Honestly I've never given a negative review on Yelp nor in any form regarding a magic shop of any kind, but customer service is what separates the good from the bad and thus here is my first negative review. I will not spend more $ and drive out of my way anymore to support Brent and his shop when I am regarded in such a way that I feel like I am being taken advantage of. I will follow the trend and shop for my magic online. read more

Great selection and great employees. I've just recently started getting back into magic since it's great for breaking the ice while promoting a business. I was a little depressed when I found out that my favorite magic shop from my childhood had closed but absolutely elated after my first visit to The Magic Apple. Not only do they have a great selection of classic effects and books but they also stock newer illusions that you see at popular online magic retailers. What impressed me even more though was their staff. I've only been there a couple of times but so far the feeling I get is that they really try to get a sense of your skill level before they go suggesting items. They want to make sure that you'll be happy with your purchase, not frustrated with it. While that alone is enough to garner my praise I also noticed that if they feel an effect is inferior to something similar in the shop they will suggest the better product even if it's cheaper than the item you were previously considering. It says a lot about the integrity of a business when they're willing to do something like that in this economy. They'd rather make you a happy and hopefully regular customer than just try to nickle and dime anyone who comes in. read more
