I have been involved with magic for about 46 years out of the New York area and try to visit magic shops as I travel. Brent and Anthony run a nice shop and were friendly and open to chatting. They keep a nice selection on hand and can order other effects. No pressure to buy and they seemed knowledgable. I would shop there again. read more

The best magic shop in LA! They have everything you could ever want. They offer lessons as well and are always very helpful when you come in. However, my favorite thing about this place is the community and culture they are building. You can tell if you want to meet some of the local magic scene, this is the place to hangout. I signed up for their mailing list and they send info about lectures they have on site, magic related events around the city and more! They recommend a magic expo that was happening in Burbank that I wouldn't have known was going on otherwise and had an absolute blast! If you're looking for a magic shop, this is the best LA has to offer in my opinion. read more

Great store! You were able to try out different decks of cards before buying them. Ended up spending $100

Totally friendly guy, Anthony who helped us today! He even helped show us a brief demonstration and was genuinely kind. I have to say that I will definitely come back! read more

The guys are great there. knowledgable and willing to share insights. I was recommended to them by a good friend and he was right in sending me there. read more

Excellent shop with great service and soooooooo friendly. Their location, upstairs in a Studio City strip mall, isn't the greatest for visibility and street traffic, yet people do find them and that's really great to see. Like most cities, LA has a long history of magic shops that have come and gone over the years. It has to be a tough business even under the best of circumstances. The Magic Apple is definitely the place to go in LA for all things magic and I hope they are around for years to come! read more

We found this place from the great Yelp review (thanks Yelpers!) and had a great time, we experienced excellent, engaging and interactive service from Anthony who demonstrated several "tricks" suitable for our level. He was very friendly, warm, patient and genuinely loves what he does. He was very inclusive, involving us and another family with his demonstrations. We ended up buying several of them and can't wait to start practicing with them to wow family and friends. Would definitely go back and highly recommend! read more

Our grandson, age 10, is a budding magician. He has been to the Magic Castle with his father and he recently performed his routine to great acclaim at his Elementary School's Talent Night. For his just past 10th birthday he requested to add to his magic tricks library. We knew of but had not previously visited The Magic Apple. So his grandmother, Jack and I went. It's a club house for magicians. Anthony waited on us. He could not have been more patient, courteous and kind in showing (demonstrating) a variety of tricks suitable for Jack's age and ability. After much time for reflection, Jack made his selection within the budget his grandmother and I set. Of course, we threw in a T-shirt for a bonus. We learned that approximately 4 times a year they have a gathering for kids Jack's age. The next one is in June 2nd. Jack will be there. read more

My son a I, we love this store!! Anthony is a great guy to deal with and we love his magics! Thank you

Amazing selection of magic tricks. I love shopping here for my daughter as she loves to perform magic. The staff is so friendly and helpful. I am very grateful for their trick demonstrations. read more

One of the best magic stores in the country, and I've shopped in magic stores on both coasts and in Vegas. Brent and the rest of the staff are knowledgeable, helpful and friendly - if they don't already have it in the store (an unlikelihood, given their selection), they can almost certainly get it for you, and soon. With an extensive library, lessons, the only ongoing magic lecture series available to the public in the area and even a rental program for more expensive stage illusions, The Magic Apple is the answer to every magician's need from hobbyist to full-time professional. Highest possible rating. read more

I visit about once a month or so, and attend many of the lectures sponsored by the apple. Great shop with a very friendly and helpful staff. Very near Universal Studios if you are in the area. read more

Even though I haven't been to many magic stores, I gotta say this is my favorite one. I found this place on Yelp with only one picture so I was thinking this might be bad, but we went anyways. And I'm happy I did. The best!! The staff is awesome and I became friends with them. Everything I wanted was there. read more

One of the last brick and mortar shops on the planet! Always well stocked. Brent the owner, does a great job of keeping and stocking the classics. It's a welcoming place for the beginner or the pro. read more

I love this place! Friendly and helpful staff, a great selection, and very competitive prices. The only danger here is that I'm tempted to blow my entire paycheck whenever I walk through the doors. read more

Anthony was so so wonderful. My son so enjoyed the special time you took to explain and mentor him on magic and some phenomenal tricks. And the top off was an invite to the Magic Castle. We loved it. The magic Apple was the best magic shop I have ever been to. Anthony and Steve were super friendly and helpful. Every trick they showed me blew my mind. I am 8 and they treated me like an adult. They even asked me to sign their 15 year anniversary book. Nothing was overpriced. I will be saving up my allowance money and coming right back! read more

Just what you want in a magic store -- knowledgeable, friendly staff, a welcoming environment, and good prices. Their selection is decent, and they're quick to offer to order anything they don't have. This has become a regular hang-out for some of the top professional magicians in Southern California, so you're likely to see some amazing things if you go in. Definitely worth the trip, and a much better experience than buying online which can never duplicate the real magic store feel. read more

I'm not a magician in any way...but I love this place. With help they found a trick for me that I could perform. I do this trick at work and on friends and it always gets them...pretty cool! Anthony helped several times finding magic tricks that my daughter can do...she loves it there as well. If you happen to visit during their anniversary, it's a great treat. The place is filled with magicians, many of them practicing and showing a trick or two. read more

The guys in here are so great. My son loves magic. We have gone in few times. They take their time with him, show him some tricks and how to do them, it's so much fun. The last time I went, my son & his friend wanted to do a magic show for their school talent show. The guys talked to the boys, showed them some tricks, and completely helped them figure out which tricks would be best for their show. Great place, if you need anything magic, this is your store! read more

Great Service, great Magicians, great selection, and an overall great time. Can't wait to go back!

Just visited here for the first time looking for magic tricks for kids to do. Owner was super nice and helpful. He answered all the questions energetically that the kids threw at him and demonstrated tons of tricks to them as well. Kids left extremely excited and can't wait to perform their new tricks. There is a wide variety of products to choose from and we will be back again! read more

It's so rare to find a great magic store like the Magic Apple these days. We drove about 40 minutes with our daughters to get a few tricks. They've been inspired by 8 year old Issy Simpson from America's Got Talent. We were greeted by Anthony, who was very entertaining. He spent a good amount of time with us showing us a wide variety of age appropriate tricks that were the girls' level. They were dazzled by every trick he performed. He definitely made our experience enjoyable. Steven helped us check out and was very courteous and friendly. We saw seasoned magicians stop in to purchase a few items during our visit. It is a store for both amateurs and professionals. Thank you for making our first experience a memorable one! read more

I have been shopping at Hollywood Magic for many many years. They closed several years ago. I am happy to have found this gem. Great selection. Wonderful books and DVD's and Anthony is a fine magician who demonstrates the magic and gives great suggestions on presentation. Great for kids too. read more

This place is awesome! I stopped by twice during my recent visit to Los Angeles and was lucky enough to stock up on some of the great classics on Magic, as well as some harder to find books (Pocket Erdnase YES!). A huge video selection and the store owner is an awesome guy who is happy to help find things suited to your personal preferences. Wish I could stop by here more often :-) read more

I drove 40 miles to this shop. The staff showed up 15 minutes late to open up. The store had very little on my list of what I wanted . The staff refused to show me an expanded shell I wanted to buy. I explained I had been burned buying one on line and I just wanted to see what I was buying. Staff said" it does what it is suppose to" there where only two customers and staff said he was too busy to help. Very sad read more

Weather you just love magic, are a hobbyist, or a professional, this shop is a must for all your magic needs. Not only are they knowledgeable and helpful, but even if they don't have your exact product you're looking for, they will help you get it! The customer service is excellent. . Also doesn't hurt that you may see one of your favorite magicians shopping next to you, or even just practicing some new material. Plus, a discount for Magic Castle members. If I could move in just to hang there all the time I think I'd do it! read more

I really wanted to give a 5 star review and support a local brick and mortar magic shop but I can't. The owner Brent has horrible customer service and refused to credit me back for not giving me a 10% discount for being a Magic Castle member. I have my receipt and its just 4 days after my purchase was made, but he refused to help me in any way. I told him that it didn't have to be a monetary compensation (equal to $10) and that I am willing to accept what they are willing to offer and he told me no. I told him that that is way out and that I couldn't believe it and he said "cool". Honestly I've never given a negative review on Yelp nor in any form regarding a magic shop of any kind, but customer service is what separates the good from the bad and thus here is my first negative review. I will not spend more $ and drive out of my way anymore to support Brent and his shop when I am regarded in such a way that I feel like I am being taken advantage of. I will follow the trend and shop for my magic online. read more

Great selection and great employees. I've just recently started getting back into magic since it's great for breaking the ice while promoting a business. I was a little depressed when I found out that my favorite magic shop from my childhood had closed but absolutely elated after my first visit to The Magic Apple. Not only do they have a great selection of classic effects and books but they also stock newer illusions that you see at popular online magic retailers. What impressed me even more though was their staff. I've only been there a couple of times but so far the feeling I get is that they really try to get a sense of your skill level before they go suggesting items. They want to make sure that you'll be happy with your purchase, not frustrated with it. While that alone is enough to garner my praise I also noticed that if they feel an effect is inferior to something similar in the shop they will suggest the better product even if it's cheaper than the item you were previously considering. It says a lot about the integrity of a business when they're willing to do something like that in this economy. They'd rather make you a happy and hopefully regular customer than just try to nickle and dime anyone who comes in. read more

The staff was fantastic. I brought my 10 year old, a new magician, and the had him mesmerized. He bought several tricks and loves it

An exceptional experience! My 10-yr-old is obsessed with card magic, and Anthony made him feel like a pro. He treated him like an adult, didn't talk down to him, and took his interests seriously. My son says it was the greatest experience of his life! Incredible selection of anything magic. read more
