My friends and I had a great bonding day at Mad Potter. The staff there was really nice and provided us with a great introduction session. All of the materials such as paint and brushes are included in the price. An added bonus is that it's BYOB! It takes a few days for them to glaze your product. Don't expect to receive a text that your item is ready for pick up. Love love love this place!! I've come here many times, I think I'm missing a picture of one of them, as shown in my pictures. It's so much fun and so relaxing. Usually it's not busy and it's pretty quiet but I have caught a crowd once. They have a nice clean single stall bathroom. And all the staff over the years have been very kind! There's tons of paint colors to choose from and so many tools to use. They don't take long firing the pottery and call you when it's ready to pick up. I love all my pieces I've made. Only thing I'll say is maybe avoid the bowls/kitchen stuff. I'm very careful with them but both my bowls got cracked from just being bumped around in cabinets. This was my first time at Mad Potter and I had a blast! I went on Feb 17 friday and the girls working there were super sweet and accommodating. The piece of pottery I painted was $36, which is pretty pricey but this is pretty much the only thing you have to pay for. This includes the paint and the time you spend painting at their table as well, so you only pay for the piece of pottery. We made a reservation for 8:30, which is not a good idea because we probably spent 2 hrs eating and talking and that gave us 30 minutes to paint our pottery. They close at 11pm, so we ended up staying 5 minutes past closing. The girls were very nice though and didn't mind. They even took a picture for us. You're allowed to bring in food as well! I hoped the people around us did not mind the smell of tamales and Chick-fil-a. It was very nice to talk and eat with your finds and then enjoy some relaxing time painting. I saw a sign that said pets are welcome too! I need to verify that though, but I would love to bring my pup. read more

You can find me here a few times a month and it's my absolute favorite place to hang out with friends or even come solo and hang out during the day and paint at my own pace! I've made many pieces here and I love them all! The staff is super helpful and friendly and it's always clean. All the tools you need to paint and design your pieces are always available and clean no matter how busy they are! I've only had one piece not fire correctly which is in no way the staffs fault, it's totally understandable that sometimes the paint may malfunction but I was given a new mug to redo my piece and I don't mind at all. I love coming here. They do a lot of theme nights too which is pretty fun! I can literally spend hours here. I know a lot of people are concerned with the pricing but if you're doing it less often then I am it's really not that bad when you consider the price of the item, the cost of paint and supplies, the effort it requires to carefully protect, dip and fire each piece and the convenience of being able to bring your own food/ drink to enjoy your time! You pay for the experience and would end up paying that much for dinner or an outing anyway but here you get to keep something! The manager Andrea is the best! And Mary, who no longer works there was also so helpful and so great and taught me so much! This staff handles so much from parents who can't control their kids to cleaning up everyone's messes which makes the price totally worth it! Went here for my bday around 1:30pm on a Friday and it wasn't super busy inside! The tables seat 4 people and there is a wide selection of pottery to paint! The process is super simple and easy + the staff are extremely welcoming and patient. I picked up my pottery from that day about 2/3 days later and nothing went wrong! Great place if you want to sit and focus on painting for 3 hours (it will take that much time to finish your masterpiece lol). read more

I didn't get the names of the sweet girls working last night, but they were phenomenal and deserve a review. They were patient, helpful, and kind. My daughter is typically quite shy and felt so comfortable asking all of the questions she had. My spouse and I weren't able to finish our pieces and they provided us with the option to stay as long as we needed past closing or to take paint home (free of charge) to finish our pieces. We opted to take them home. We had the best family night at The Mad Potter and it was absolutely due to the hard working girls, and the experience they provided. The future is bright for them! This place (Bellaire location) was absolutely phenomenal! We had a group of 4 heading out for a double date, and The Mad Potter exceeded expectations. We were greeted and given instructions when we walked in, and then we began the painting experience. After that, Megan assisted me in making a plate with a very intricate powder strategy. While I had no clue what I was getting myself into, Megan walked me through each instruction step by step, all while having my own autonomy to create my own masterpiece. Jackie also went above and beyond to assist with a stencil, paper, and pen to help me take my creation to the next level! I appreciate all of her help and expertise. So, you come in , find an open table , pick your ceramic piece, colors and start. they have a fun little display with all the neat things you can do with the paint- bubbles, lace-pattern, spackles, etc.. very easy for kids to do. Staff was pretty helpful, there was this young lady named "brea?" i think ... it was evident that she was new, but she really enjoyed working with her customers- she was kind to young and old alike. Downfall? i guess they have to be competitive with the others, but these things are very expensive- we ended up spending approx 140 ish for 2 adults, 2 children and 2 drinks. UPDATE: Picked up our pieces and was told I would need to go come back to get my brothers dog because it was chipped and they had to re fire it or whatever. Came by today (a week later) to pick it up and it is still clearly chipped. You can easily tell it is chipped on the nose and it was THEM who did it. Complete lack of customer service for not even offering to let my brother paint another one. Beyond disappointed. This place is expensive. You pay for your pottery AND a studio fee. We went on a Sunday and didn't finish painting before they closed so the employee told us we could come back with our pottery and not have to pay a studio fee again. She clearly lied because when we went in on Monday, we were charged ANOTHER $12 PER PERSON painting/studio fee (they charged me an adult price for my 14 year old brother both times). I ended up paying $100 for my little brothers to paint a damn dog and a shark. W.T.F.?¿! The employees are also NOT helpful....if you need a refill of paint, enjoy waiting a while for it. I LOVE The Mad Potter! I've been here many many times. I've had my birthday here, held a couples shower here, and just hung out with friends. I'm not very artistic, and the fact that I can make a lovely piece of pottery based on some colors and filling in some space on a blank piece of pottery is great! The couples shower was great! Everyone there made a single square tile and eventually they were combined and made into a serving tray. For my birthday, we all ate dinner down the street and spent the evening here making our own pottery pieces. The Mad Potter is great for kids, but it is also great for adults. It was an okay experience. The items get pretty pricey. The girls were good though very helpful with my daughter and everyone else who was there. But was a little shocked that a parent left her (2) girls there who she said it was fine because she "normally does it" and because they were "10 years old" said she'd be back in about an hour. It just made me feel uneasy knowing although this isn't a child care place, and all type of groups come in, that parents would leave their children there and it be okay. It was my first time being there but I probably wouldn't return if I knew that would happen again. I absolutely LOVE this place! Such a BROAD SELECTION of ceramic pieces to choose from, many paint colors to choose from, and such a nice, calming ambiance. This is definitely a place for a first date, or even a place to take your kid(s) to do something creative! The only, and I mean ONLY downfall is it's expensive. Every ceramic is set at a different price and the cheapest one I saw was for $22. However, I enjoyed my time here. I went to celebrate my one year of marriage and had a really great time. I liked this place it was fun and clean. The staff was really nice and helpful to the newbies like me. My friend and I went there to create a going away present for a friend. We painted a mug and a cereal bowl. We also each created a picture frame for our boyfriends and in total those four pieces took us 3 hours. After painting and adding as much detail as possible to the pieces, we left doubting that the pieces would look any good because the color looked so bland. After they glaze the pieces and place the pieces in the kiln, the products come out absolutely wonderful! I was so pleased with the quality of the product as well. I would say this a great place to bring your friends or your kids to create some nice personalized products. They also have a really wide range of items you can pick from. They also have beverages that range from milk to wine, They are a bit pricey but it's well worth it. read more

There are quite a few people who are awesome artists and produce great things! I, however, come here to make a gift that only a loved one would appreciate. Plus, I love Diva Night. Coming here with a bunch of ladies is always fun and relaxing on a Thursday night. The staff provided cookies, cupcakes, and wine. It was lovely! This is a great place to paint pottery....if you want to paint pottery. I don't completely get it. I mean, I guess it's fun, but it is too expensive for what you end up getting. Something I paint is never going to be worth $20+. But, if you must paint pottery, I like Mad Potter and I like this location. The staff were all really friendly. My girlfriend invited me to the Mad Potter for the first time and I loved it! I'm big on customer service and as soon as we walk in we are greeted by the manager Corey whose customer service was outstanding! Corey explained to us how things worked and occasionally would come to our table to see how we were doing. I must say he was very attentive and friendly to all customers that were there. I always come here for spring break(4 years). But lately they hired a new girl named VAL. She is definitely rude. We walked in and she doesn't acknowledge us. We picked our own paint, got all supplies for ourself while she's being busy on her phone. Asked her when I can pick up our products and she huffs and points to the sign. I don't think I have ever had such horrible service at mad potter. I will be visiting a different location from now on.
