I never even heard of this place until I was doing a Google search for plays about Harper Lee's "To Kill A Mockingbird". This venue appeared, and I purchased the tickets and it did not disappoint. The warehouse was a perfect place for them to put on this production. The director did such a fine job and apparently they do this all the time with lawyers playing the cast to tell the story. You have got to see this next summer for sure. Very touching and moving and my teenage son absolutely enjoyed the production! A timeless classic! Bravo and Encore!! read more

Top Dog/Under Dog was captivating and intriguing as it related to real-life issues that society often overlooks and fears to address. The two performers, Brandon and Tim, brought their characters to life, demonstrating the will to stay the course to survive the challenges they faced while staying true to their convictions. Went to my first Studio 101 play, Disgraced. The theater is quaint. I bought 2 tickets on Goldstar for a discounted price and had no problem getting my tickets inside with my name for confirmation. Everything is very relaxed and casual. Most people wore jeans and a tshirt or top. We had our seats written on a sticky note and found them after purchasing a glass of wine for $6 with a heavy pour (cash only). The theater was about half full for the Sunday 3pm show. I would definitely go back for another production, make sure you check out discounted tickets first, and tell other friends about this place. I hope I get to explore more events at this cool location! read more

I'm sure some of you have heard of Winter Street Studios, well this is their new building. It's so clean and white almost looks like a hospital. It's very quiet and the spaces are beautiful. They rooms look different from one another instead of a bunch of cookie cutter layouts. I had the pleasure of looking inside during their second saturdays open studios. It was cool being able see artists in their true environment. I probably will be looking into possibly renting a space if any spots are left for my gf's painting. read more

I didn't know this place even existed before I went to a Yelp event there (Which honestly was what made me sign up for Yelp). I've never been to an actual art gallery where the artist themselves are alive and well, and it was a very interesting experience. The place had two levels and hallways full of different types of paintings,photographs, and just creativity. There were a few things that definitely caught my eye like the picture I posted. It's just amazing what people can come up with and makes you show appreciation for their talent. It showed me that everyone is unique and different in their own way. Seeing the price tags though is a different type of appreciation. I knew art pieces were expensive, but dayeem! It sure is motivating for people like me, cause when I can go into this place and drop $400 on a stick on a canvas, that piece will remind me everyday that "Mama, I've made it!" It's definitely a place you could take your girl to and show her your more creative side. I definitely want to take mine here. read more

This is a great little theater for small plays. They have 3-4 rows of seats surrounding 3 sides of the stage. The seats are like plastic outdoor seats that look like they would be very uncomfortable after a while, but I was mistaken... The seats were actually quite comfortable. Tis is my 4th small playhouse that I have been to in the past few months, and this is the first place that actually allows you to bring drinks into the theater area, so that you can sip on your drink while watching the show. The theater is located in Sawyer Heights, an up and coming community. Lots of parking available, and the area looked fairly safe. Overall, I had a great time, and I wold definitely recommend is place for future productions. read more

There are a few places that simply leave a lasting impression. This is one of them. Spring Street Studios hosts an eclectic group of local artists. Today's Yelp event enabled me to enjoy an afternoon of art. I particularly liked how you could freely roam the hallways and enter into each artist's studio while enjoying a stress free environment. From delectable foodie photos, acrylic canvases and some of the most interesting displays I've ever seen, this place has something all can enjoy. read more

What an awesome space! Spring Street Studios is a renovated warehouse that is leased out to many artists such as designers, marketing companies, screen printing, jewelers, etc. Once a month (second Saturday) they open their doors and the artists can showcase their work. They will have a DJ and food trucks out and open the studio to the public. They also have Fotofest at this location and this mont they featured Arab art. There are a lot of activities going on and lots of awesome people within the studio walls. Check it out. read more

As one of the participating vendors for Yelp's Nifty Under $50 this year, I was privileged to get to check out the Spring Street Studios for the first time. The location is super easy to get to, with ample parking and very clean and bright. There are numbers local artisans who have their own personal gallery spaces here and it made a great location for the holiday market. We got great foot traffic, and I feel it also boosted the shoppers for the private galleries as well. I didn't get to check out the upstairs spaces, but the location is perfect for any artist looking for a home! Go check it out! read more

I went to Spring Street for a Yelp event, and I didn't know what to expect. When you arrive, it looks like you've parked in front of a large warehouse, but don't worry, you're at the right place. Immediately upon walking in, you feel like you're in an art gallery with the white walls, bright lighting, geometric walls, and art hanging everywhere. (I'm not sure if that is the norm, or if it was just because of the Yelp event.) Regardless, there are some really amazing and talented artists at Spring Street! I loved a lot of the work that was displayed. There is also a second floor that houses more studios; personally, I enjoyed the works upstairs more (but everyone has different taste in art). read more

Lots of studio space here for different artists to do their thang. Its a big warehouse complete with a small theatre of sorts to watch productions. I just saw the Big Two Hearted Fest with interpretive dance along with music composed by Tim Hagans as well as the Core Trio. Just read this description: "The program features the premiere of SKAMATO, a ska influenced work for dancers, trumpet, sax, tuba, bass and drums, that celebrates the vine ripened, non-GMO tomato, featuring choreography by Michele Brangwen and music by Tim Hagans. In NO STANDING ANY TIME, 3 dancers and 3 musicians explore the nocturnal work between dreams, with sections of improvisation by all performers." The first set was an interpretation of a Hemingway piece. Along with another set of new music in remembrance of Ornette Coleman. Yeah, its as off the wall as it sounds, and really fun. $10 door fee for this particular event, and free wine & beer (donation's appreciated). The performers mingle with everyone after the show. It was a great event, and it is a great venue which supports local artists. read more

I only went to Winter Street Studios once, and this is their new space. I can say that this place is much more awesome. It's really spacious and white (right now), so it's kind of surreal. The halls are wide, and somewhat empty. It's like they took the art crawl and put it in a sterilized building. But, that's actually why I like it. You aren't too distracted and can look at the actual pieces of art. Each studio you go into looks like a fresh new place, and you get the feeling that new life has been breathed into some of these artists. Even though I had already seen a lot of the art by a lot of the artists, it seemed completely fresh and new. I'm definitely gonna go back next time they have an open showing, which is probably next month. Also... Free wine. WHAT!!!!??? read more

My daughter, grandchildren and I had a wonderful time! We enjoyed the vendors that were there and especially enjoyed the photos of fellow Yelpers. The photos were not only artistic, but also informative, as it intrigued us to try the restaurants and the locations that were photographed. This was not only a fun event, it was also a great opportunity to visit and engage with the establishment of artists in their studios that I had previously not visited. read more

Very airy & a great canvas, it allows the art to standout. I wish I knew about this location sooner. I really enjoyed the artwork at this location. It's spread out over 2 stories & approximately 80 artist studios that you can walk through & talk directly to the artist. It felt like a trendy place without being pretentious! It's part of a campus with 4 other studios in the neighborhood. It's also a great location for hosting events! Parking is free & easily accessible. I'll keep my eyes out for future events. I recently attended a Yelp event at this studio and I was blown away. I had no idea that Houston had anything like this. I of course knew about the Museum District, but it doesn't have small,local artist studios. This place reminded me of downtown Santa Fe, NM . The smell, the look, the feel, it all took me back to Santa Fe where there are studios everywhere. I loved peeking my head into each artist's room. They were all so different. I could definitely see myself spending a few hours wandering through the building and talking to each artist. read more

Still new and would need to be filled more as in studio space. Not really that active and lively as a studio. It's more quiet and the hallways are not artsy much at all because most artist are showing their work in the halls at their own risk due to no security protection from the building. There are some cool artist in there though. read more

Thanks to Yelp's Nifty Under $50, I've now discovered Spring Street Studios. The interior houses local artist's studios, which are open every second saturday of the month from 3-5. My husband and I are big art fans, so it was awesome to meet the artists, talk about the inspiration, and see the various works in development.
