See Mr Gite's comment on a family photo on Facebook. Completely inappropriate, unprofessional, disgusting and wrong in so many ways

I truly hate to do this, but I am beyond disappointed with Lloyd Gite. I guess I had him all wrong- I had no idea he could be so unprofessional. He will not be receiving any of my business in the future. If any of you are planning on buying anything from him, read the following Facebook post and its comments before proceeding: https://www.facebook.com/25202414/posts/10100663935005973?sfns=mo Here is the original FB post: Anyone who knows me, knows I don't have a taste for confrontation, but since Lloyd Gite decide to post a nasty comment on my page I feel compelled to respond. Back-Story on how we got here... So there I was, Stacey Wells and I just closed on our new home (July). Stacey decided to take 7 day vacation to Alaska the day after we closed and I stayed back to move us in. I stopped by the Gite Gallery to look a few piece of art. He offered to walk through the home to see what pieces would work where. I invited him into my home and he proceeded to pick out pieces of art for us. I returned to his gallery later that day to see what pieces he had chosen. The art was AMAZING! I left the art gallery and then I decided that it may be in my best interest to wait until Stacey returned before I purchase $10,000 worth of art that she may or may not like. I informed Mr. Gite that I would like to wait until she approved all the pieces before I buy them (P.S. The art is a no return policy) (P.S.S. I have already made the mistake of buying art she hates). This is when a beautiful exchange turn ugly... Mr. Gite decide to send me a unflattering text message. Here is what it said. "Charles you are a real piece of work. We just took all the pieces down. You could have sent her a picture of the art before hand." Now as you could imagine I was shocked that Mr. Gite would have such a visceral response. I DID NOT say I didn't want to buy it. I just merely said let me make sure Stacey likes the art considering its a $10K purchase. I decide not to even respond to such an ignorant response. He then texted me to let me know the emfamous "dogon doors" had arrived to the art gallery. I was shocked he thought I would still want to patron his business after the rude exchange. So once again I didn't respond. That brings us to yesterday and this post. Once again Mr. Gite thinks its a good sales tactic to continuously act in a rude unprofessional way. I guess some how this will get me to buy his products. Sad thing is I LOVE THE ART. P.S. Mr. Gite makes a lovely comment "I don't understand black folks". Now I am not sure what that means. Let examine this a little further. To my understanding Mr. Gite is black and the majority of his customers are black and he is selling "AFRICAN" art yet he doesn't understand black folks. P.S.S. Black Folks Lesson #1 - If you want to sell to "Black Folks" you may want to be a little more professional.... but I am going to guess this rule doesn't just apply to "Black Folks"! #unreal

I came to Houston to visit friends, do a little shopping, and to visit a few of my old stomping grounds. I also wanted to buy art for my new home. I specifically wanted to support a black owned gallery so I did a little research and came across Gite Gallery and I am so glad I did. They have so many beautiful pieces from African artists as well as Cuban artists (which apparently are my favorite ). I loved so many pieces but I wound up getting a beautiful piece from Afro-Cuban artist Aliana. The owner and everyone at the gallery were so nice and accommodating. I was offered a glass of wine right away and was allowed to view art and ask questions at my leisure. They also have a First Friday event every month that I will try to visit the next time I come to Houston.

Very cool Black-owned gallery selling art mostly from artists "on the continent" in the words of the owner. Very cool selection of paintings and sculptures. The photos of the owner with celebrities are fun to check out. Wide price range too.

The Gite Gallery is the go to place for authentic contemporary and traditional African Art. I personally have several pieces that I am absolutely in love with. The owner has personally traveled to many of different diaspora and acquires the art for the gallery. ( paintings, artifacts, sculptures) These pieces are Cuban, Afro Cuban and African. See the pictures of the current art in house / inventory. They are available for interior design, custom framing, Custom framing , Art procurement and you are even able to rent the entire gallery for private events. If nothing else take a weekend visit to see the collection. The owner Lloyd Gite is usually on hand to talk with you about the various pieces. The Art changed often and sells fast. The vibrant colors and the beauty of how the artist bring the paintings to life will draw you in and give you a greater appreciation of art. Go by and have some champagne while you browse. Off street parking. Open Thursday, Friday and Saturday.

I'm so pleased with my new piece. I took advantage of the Christmas in July sale. I love the Gite Gallery.

They allowed us to tour the gallery in peace, offered us champagne and were able to provide information about the pieces.

My boyfriend has 3 letters (his initials) from the golf U.S. open, and this piece would not be the same without this gallery. It is actually the framing that gives the letters their story. One of my favorite experiences in the process of making this piece was Village Frame's openness to emboss. I was set on having letters embossed, and Sheryl learned to make it happen. Overall, I highly HIGHLY recommend Village Frame!! You can tell how much they love what they do, and their expertise is unparalle

They proceeded to gingerly take the frame apart to get to the prints. Much to our surprise the prints were a whole lot brighter than they looked because the glass had faded. The Village Frame team all helped us with determining the best new frame, new matting and added features we should include to enhance the print. When we got the framed prints back, they looked outstanding. A very professional job done. The prints looked better today than the day we purchased them. We took the framed prints home and, thanks to the initial job of measuring, we were able to put them right back on the picture hangers on the wall. We are now looking at other paintings that could use an update provided by this professional team!

Fortunately, these folks at what is now called Webb Gallery know exactly what to do and are very helpful to guiding you to a good framing solution. We were very impressed with the selection of frame profiles, filets, matting, etc., as well as frames which are deep enough to create spaces for textiles, or other 3-dimensional pieces. One pointer about spending the money on framing is that for those of us who live in houses with minimal woodwork details, moldings, etc., or whose furniture is very simple, picture frame molds can be used to add detail lacking in the overall decor, in addition to drawing the eye in to a picture and making it look significant. Unlike wallpaper, you can take your framed artwork with you should you be subject to frequent relocations, etc. For those of us living in the Kingwood-Humble-Atascocita area, it is such a blessing to have a great framers' close by.
