I came to this place because I read they had gluten free options. Oh boy did they. I got the spinach and artichoke Mac with the gf noodles and gf cheese sauce. They even had gf bread crumbs sprinkled on top. My son isn't very adventurous. He just got a regular grilled cheese. It looked awesome and he says it tasted great too. It was very covid friendly. Had lunch here with my son, who is a Mac and cheese aficionado. The staff were friendly, and food was available quickly. There are lots of different mac & cheese, variations available, as well as sandwiches and salads. I had a grilled cheese sandwich, which was very flavorful, and I especially enjoyed the cheesy crust on the outside of the bread. We also had one of the basic mac & cheese, which was also tasty and my son enjoyed. Will be back here again for another lunch sometime. read more

Super disappointed. Came in for a takeout order. Took 30 minutes for them to prepare a kids chicken finger meal and a side salad with chicken. Got to the car and the chicken was missing in the salad and the fries were already cold. There were 3 employees and the restaurant only had 1 other party of 2 at a table. Workers were kind but no reason it should've taken than long AND be wrong. Went to the website to find someway to contact the restaurant and nothing. The food here is fantastic, always fresh. Our whole family loves this place. Our 5 y loves the Mac Burger as he loves Mac & cheese and beef (seasoned really well). Our 7.5 y always gets the Mac cheese kids meal. Me, I love the salads and the buffalo Mac and cheese or buffalo grilled cheese. This review is long overdue, but needs to be posted. I saw a video featured on Facebook on by Localish about this local family owned business. I'm not from the area, but I get to go once a year to stay with my family who lives there. Being a self-proclaimed Mac and cheese connoisseur, I had to check it out! I decided to drag my little sisters for a girls date, because they are also Mac and cheese fans. When it comes to food, they are so picky and very hard to please. Everyone really enjoyed what they got. Although I have to admit I went a little overboard because I wanted to try as much as possible! I got the buffalo Mac, the pimento BFT (bacon fried tomato). They got some plain Mac and cheese and chicken nuggets being the plain Janes that they are! I could obviously could not finish my food, my eyes were bigger than my stomach! I took the rest home and it was still amazing reheated the next day. If I get the chance to back to Raleigh after the Covid craziness, I am definitely going back to The Mac House! read more

For a place called the mac house there wasn't lots of mac and cheese options so I went with the mac and cheese balls and a salad. These were good the breading and sauce was the best part. The mac and cheese taste like regular box mac and cheese. I gave it three stars because the staff was friendly the place was clean and the breading was good at least. Mac House has become a recent "Go-To" for me as I stop by a few times a month. I typically get a small portion of two or three of their mac and cheese options because I enjoy the variety, and there is always something new for me to try. I can honestly say I have never had a bad meal here. The staff is always quite pleasant, and the food is wonderful! If you are a Mac and cheese fan, this is a must try in my opinion! My favorites have to be the bbq pulled pork Mac and cheese, and the Caribbean Jerk chicken Mac and cheese (if you like some heat!). I highly suggest giving Mac house a try, and I look forward to my next visit there again soon and hope to try something new! read more

I called in to order ahead of time. I get the same thing every time. The burger Mac and cheese with no tomatoes no onion with extra house sauce. And the past 3 times I've gone there has been tomatoes onions and very little sauce. It feels intentional. I have to drive 25 minutes for it. Made the drive to have lunch. In a shopping center, casual restaurant. Order at the counter, they call your name, and then bring your food to the table. The menu left me with a few awesome choices to mull over. I chose the Cheeseburger Mac n Cheese with side of fries. The ground beef was stirred into the macaroni then topped with chopped lettuce, tomatoes and onion and a thousand island type dressing. The fries, a bit limp, but were hot. Similiar to Five Guys. In taste. My date enjoyed the BLT grilled cheese with a side Beet and Kale salad. The sandwich was deliciously grilled on thick bread. Sturdy enough to hold everything in place and still have gooey cheddar oozing out. Yum. The salad was a great blend of flavors of kale, goat cheese, chopped beets and walnuts with the maple vinaigrette. I plan to order it my next visit. This place is so good - I can't recommend highly enough. Their seasonal offerings are always creative and delicious (I'd sell a kidney to get back their chicken taco seasonal mac as a regular item), and they're a true family run business - plus they deliver! Portion sizes are generous to say the least, and I'm very appreciative of how cautious they've been with their COVID precautions. Mac and cheese is an ultimate comfort food for me, and they do it right - no gluey velveeta and overcooked noodles here! So good! My wife and I saw The Mac House last weekend while checking out another restaurant nearby. We immediately looked up the menu and reviews and put it at the top of our "Must Try" list and wow, it did not disappoint! We were met by the nicest lady when we walked in who chatted with us and really made us feel welcome. We ordered a BBQ Grilled Cheese (w/ salad) and the Buffalo Chicken Mac and Cheese with an order of chili cheese fries to share. Everything was delicious and quite possibly the best grilled cheese and mac and cheese we have had. We are expecting our first child very soon, but the odds are pretty high that we will be back before that day and definitely after. This was my first time eating here. I got the mac and cheese waffle and chicken...AMAZING! The waffle is made entirely of Mac and cheese and the chicken tenders were huge. I could have gone with out the hot honey, it really was a ramekin with honey and red pepper flakes. I felt it was too thick some hot sauce and syrup would have been perfect for the sweet and hot taste. Everything was made to order and served nice and hot. A restaurant that serves only mac and cheese?!!! YES PLEASE!!! Well, there are sandwiches, soups, and salads of course, but the main draw is the mac and cheese. Which was what I was here for! Mac House is essentially a fast-casual restaurant. There's a giant menu board when you walk in, you place your order at the register, and the employees bring you your food when it's ready. Having a restaurant that serves different flavors of mac and cheese really is an amazing concept! My friends and I really enjoyed all of our food. There were a few aspects of our experience that could be improved, but overall it was good. I ordered the bacon and truffle mac and cheese, which was essentially a white cheddar mac and cheese, with bacon mixed in, crispy breadcrumbs on top, drizzled with truffle oil. Super cheesy with a strong garlicky flavor, I was satisfied. I did notice that the cheese noodles without any topping didn't have much flavor, I noticed the same thing with my friend's BBQ mac, and my boyfriend's buffalo chciken mac, so the toppings on the mac is what makes the dish. Which is fine with me! Just giving other diners a heads up. I also tried my friend's fries, which looked like they were freshly made, but they weren't really crispy. They kind of reminded me of Five Guys fries, where you have to eat them right away or else they get cold and soggy. There were some timing issues with bringing our food out; some of my friends didn't get their appetizers/soups until way after they received their Mac dishes, and a lot of our mac dishes came out in a weird order [for example, I was the 3rd/4th person from my group to order, and I was the first person to receive my food]. The employees were incredibly nice though, the lady who brought out our food was very attentive and took care of us. Overall, I enjoyed my experience here. The portions are very generous, it's pretty fast and convenient compared to sit down restaurants, and the employees were very nice. We ordered take out from here last night. It was delicious! We had the Buffalo Mac and cheese, bacon truffle Mac and cheese, pizza Mac and cheese, fried green tomatoes and house salad. As a family of four (one five year old and one eight year old) the meal is feeding us for a second time tonight! I can't even describe how delicious everything was. The kids and the adults both loved the fried green tomatoes and were looking for things this morning to put the rest of the bacon dipping sauce on. The kids LOVED the pizza Mac and cheese! They argued over the leftovers this evening. In today's times cleanliness and attention to detail is also important. The Mac House did a great job with both. The food was very good! An article about this place recently came out so they're trying to keep up with the increase in volume, so they're kind of slow right now. This is a great little addition to the area. I ordered the Caribbean Jerk Chicken Mac & Cheese. It had the perfect kick of heat and not too much cheese.
