This is the restaurant that is a part of the Lygon Arms Hotel - but it deserves a review of its very own because it effectively stands alone, is beautiful, charming and historic in its own right. Just sitting in the restaurant makes you sense the history and grandeur around you. Unlike some of the places around it is NOT snooty and stuck up. The service is great, polite, prompt, caring but also down to Earth. The whole ambience is very special and worth visiting just for that! The walls and carvings, the paintings, the huge open hearth burning away in the winter (like during our recent visits).
The offerings range from steaks and burgers to fish and chips, lamb shanks and vegetarian offerings and more. We enjoyed the whole experience of eating here several times (pics posted of some of our eats). The food is reliably a solid GOOD whatever you choose. However I do find it a little bit pricey when you keep in mind that it is a la carte. Do we recommend? Absolutely - even though I would suggest that you are in fact a bit of a premium for where you are eating (GBP 20 for breakfast seemed steep to me) and the whole experience. Will we go again? Of course!!
