A perfect lunch or snack or tea stop while walking the Cotswold Way, or just while passing through…read morethe area. We were on the Cotswold Way and stopped in for some nice teas and snacks at lunchtime and they were great fuel for our onward hiking. We saw other diners having delicious soups and sandwiches for lunch; the menu looked very rich and inviting but we didn't need anything too heavy at the time... There were few but very hardworking and friendly staff patiently taking care of all guests. Mount Inn is higher up than Stanton village so it has a really lovely view - which I bet is even more excellent at sunset. Their outdoor flowers, especially the summer petunias, were stunning! Definitely worth a visit!

The Mount Inn might be the only place in town but lucky you, it's fabulous…read more Arriving on foot during a downpour, I waved at a man sitting outside with a beer on an outdoor deck with an umbrella above. He made it look so attractive that I got my drink with the intention of joining him but by the time I got outside the rain had stopped and he was gone. The beautiful views from the patio remained and they were enough. A later move into the bar area proved that it's not just the views that are delightful. Here in the cozy bar I enjoyed what is likely the only Mezza platter for miles around. Mount Inn is not just any run-of-the-mill-local pub. They feature locally grown/raised ingredients with much grown on site. But it's what they've done not just with the ingredients that make this a destination. It's as comfortable as your favorite sweater; I'd be here on the regular if I lived in a neighboring town. The worst thing I can say about Mount Inn is that they close at some point, between lunch and dinner meaning that guests must also leave. Until I inquired, they made no move to boot me from the bar, even though they were now closed and readying the place for later, for the dinner hour. If you're in the area make time for Mount Inn, even if it's just for a drink on that well-placed patio.
