We discovered a wonderful little sandwich shop in downtown Shawnee. The lunch box is located on Main Street. They have an excellent selection of sandwiches, soups, salads, and tasty treats. We ordered the following sandwiches. A baloney & cheese, a grilled pizza toastie, a couple of meatloaf sandwiches, a grilled tenderloin, and a BLT. Everyone raved about their sandwiches. All sandwiches were served with a soup or salad side order and a pickle. Some of the soups were a tomato and a chicken with rice. The side salads were a potato salad and a pea salad. We are looking forward to visiting The lunch box next time We're in Shawnee. read more

I received my sandwich order wrong twice. They were nice and apologetic and remade the sandwich. By the time the food came the second time the rest of my party was done eating and it was still incorrect. I ended up throwing the second sandwich in the trash and leaving. This little place is tucked in Shawnee in a little old strip mall. We had a craving for some sandwiches that were yummy but also on the cheap. The Lunch Box did not disappoint us at all. We could tell it was a hoppin little joint from the line of people. The prices looked great and the sandwiches come with a pickle and chips. I got the French dip, which was really good. Not sure what kind of bread it was but it was flavorful and tasted really fresh. They were even kind enough to give us extra pickles when we asked. I also got an unsweetened tea and added in some zero calorie sweetener in it. The tea tasted homemade and freshly brewed. Reminded me when I was young and my grandma would make sweat tea! Mmmmm The decor inside was quaint and it felt like home. Each table was different and I loved it! How could I forget the cheesecake brownie and chocolate chip cookies ! The brownie was giant!! The Lunch Box in Shawnee has amazing sandwiches! I had the turkey cranberry sandwich, husband had the basic turkey sandwich. They were both remarkably delicious - warm, thick, juicy slices off a roasted turkey breast. Turkey cranberry had turkey slice, cranberry sauce and cream cheese on a warm croissant, and the basic turkey sandwich had turkey slice, Swiss cheese, lettuce, tomato, mayo and red onion on toasted hearty white bread. Both served with a bag of potato chips and a pickle spear. Cute little diner atmosphere with electric furnishings, a different set of salt and pepper shakers on each table, everything was clean. The staff was quietly friendly and efficient. I recommend highly. We were on our way east on I-40 and took the short and pleasant drive into Shawnee looking for a good sandwich. This cute cafe is only open at lunchtime, but serves up some scrumptious sandwiches, soups, and salads. We tried some of their freshly made sandwiches and several of the yummy desserts. This is a great place to for a quick lunch break, or a leisurely lunch with friends. The atmosphere is neat and colorful with the walls covered with records, posters and other fun artwork. The Lunch Box has a very welcoming feel to it, and the staff is friendly and efficient. The busiest time is from noon to one, and it slows down a bit after the main lunch rush. We came in a little after one, and there were plenty of tables to choose from, and we got our food quickly. I had the southwest turkey club. I love the chipotle mayo; it brought the sandwich together with just the right balance of flavors. I have also tried a couple of their soups, and have enjoyed them as well. Now for the best part....the desserts. We took several desserts to go today, so we could more of them. All were great from cheesecake to cookies. The cheesecake brownies and the almond joy cookies are a must try! If you are in the Shawnee area, try this place out sometime! read more

This food is determinedly fantastic. Atmosphere very clean, feels relaxed and healthy.

I was off work running errands and wanted to break for lunch. I went by a couple places I have been wanting to try but they were closed. That's when I spotted The Lunch Box. I really hope this place does well because the lunch was fabulous. The restaurant is clean and the staff friendly. I had the grilled ham & Swiss with a cup of spicy tomato soup. The soup wasn't spicy by my standards, but went superbly with the sandwich. I am looking forward to coming back soon to try something different. read more

This place is so cute and so clean I absolutely love it. It's not too small and the smell of amazing food hits you as you walk in the door. I've been here two times and I get the quinoa veggie wrap. So. Freaking. Good! And something that's delicious, fill your cup with half lemonade and half sweet tea. I only can come here when I have the extra money on hand to afford it, but how clean it look and how good it smells, I feel it's totally 100% worth it. Part of me is sad that it's only open for lunch. But I'll always like it here. It gets a little busy, but they don't take too long. The sandwiches are large enough to share (or to save half for later) for smaller appetites, yet hearty enough to satisfy my College aged son. This place is definitely worth a trip off the highway for. A neat little place with walk up ordering and all the workers are wearing masks but there's no mandate in the restaurant itself. It does offer a few outside tables if you want more distance but most table are nicely spaced. It's in the heart of downtown so sitting outside is nice. The food was delicious. I went for the meatloaf sandwich which I usually just have meatloaf on bread but this place was a little different with pickled onions, lettuce and tomato but I'm adventurous. Oh my what an explosion of flavor. I will have a hard time trying anything else if I'm ever back that way at lunch. Hubby had the Pork Tenderloin sandwich and we traded bites. If I hadn't had the meatloaf to judge by I would have raved about that one too but it did pale in comparison to the meatloaf. Yes the meatloaf was THAT good. The sweet tea was fresh and good.
