This is a gem from my childhood. I now live out of town, but took husband here for the first time today for lunch. The menu is slightly different that 20 years ago . My favorite, the tuna melt on cornbread, is still on the menu! I do miss their pimento Mac and cheese, I ordered the Mac and cheese as a side and found out it's different than it used to be!

I had to have the clam chowder. It was quite good. I would definitely have it again. I had the fried chicken and it was moist and crispy the mashed potatoes and coleslaw were also good.

Stopped by for lunch with a colleague on Friday and had a fantastic experience. Once we walked in, we were immediately greeted and seated. The restaurant was crowded, and everyone seemed excited about so many different items on the menu. I decided to try to "adulting" four cheese grilled cheese with tomato soup. It was the perfect combination on a snowy winter day. The creamy cheeses and tomato soup was like a lunch pizza without the pizza part! The soup was a bit cold but the flavors were so incredible! Once we received the check, we have to go over to the shop to pay. The staff were friendly and very knowledgeable about the menu. The only hiccup is parking. The street parking is a bit of a hassle esp when it's cold, but the food and experience is totally worth it! :)

Ordering a big hearty fried chicken sandwich or wanting a filling healthy salad ? Whatever preference you may have for brunch/lunch even dinner, The Lucky Platter has the meal for you! Both dishes were delicious and mouth watering! Pictured here: Fried Chicken Sandwich & Green Goddess Salad! The service was so sweet and the ambiance is small inside but the outside patio is fun and you get to see the city while you're enjoying your meal, especially in time for patio season!

Stopped here for lunch with friends. Friday around 12:30, they were semi busy. Beautiful day so we grabbed a table outside although inside offered a small shop, laid back vibe and interesting decor. Felt like Brunch given our entree choices. I had the Omelette #2-filled with artichokes, roasted veggies and avocado with Goat cheese taking it over the top. I went with the house-made Apricot Cheese Flakey and that was a good decision. Cobb Salad (with Grilled Salmon), Platter and BLT (special) were all enjoyed also. Service was friendly and attentive. Lives up to the "Eclectic and funky Diner made from scratch" billing.

Sarkis Cafe - Bacon Loretta sandwich. So good!

I grew up in the northern Chicago suburbs, and Sarkis is an absolute institution. I'm pretty sure…read morethe original owner, Sarkis, is no longer involved and that the business was purchased by longtime employees years ago, but the soul of the place hasn't changed one bit. This is the quintessential no-frills neighborhood breakfast spot. It's a diner in setup and vibe, counter seating, quick service, familiar faces, but the menu is uniquely Sarkis. While they can make standard breakfast fare, they're truly known for their outstanding signature sandwiches. Two classics stand out. The Disaster is excellent and lives up to its reputation, but my personal favorite is the bacon Loretta with an egg. It's perfect. Bacon, cheese, diced peppers and onions, plus an egg if you order it, all served on a fresh Italian white roll. I add the hot sauce that sits on the table and pair it with a side of cheesy hash browns. From a health perspective, it's completely reckless. From a taste and nostalgia perspective, it's flawless. If I had to compare Sarkis to a movie genre, it's the John Hughes equivalent of a restaurant. It belongs in the same North Shore nostalgia collage as The Breakfast Club, Ferris Bueller's Day Off, Home Alone, and Planes, Trains, and Automobiles. It's iconic in the way it marks transitions, junior high to high school, high school to college, first hangovers, and early adulthood. Over the years, Sarkis has made some thoughtful upgrades, including outdoor seating when the weather's nice, which is a great addition. It's cash only, though I believe there's an ATM on site. The staff is welcoming, kind, and efficient, and it's a natural reunion spot for people who grew up in the area. Prices are fair, the food is consistent, and it's just as delicious as you remember. The only minor note, and this is truly nitpicking, is the coffee. I believe the default is hazelnut. It's fine for a quick caffeine fix, but I'd personally love a plain regular coffee option as well. I absolutely love this place and make a point to meet old friends here every time I'm back in Chicago. Sarkis is a reminder of how special it was to grow up in this area. It's one of a kind, deeply nostalgic, and uniquely Chicago.

I was seated quickly, and the bright 60s-style booths in shades of brown and green were comfortable and welcoming. My friend and I started with coffee. I ordered decaf, but the waitress accidentally brought me regular. Thankfully, I caught it right away and she corrected it. It was a busy Sunday, so I understand service can get hectic, but our waitress felt a bit rushed and not the warmest. Not rude just not very personable. For my meal, I ordered the French Toast Combination with the cinnamon French toast. Since I don't eat pork, the only alternative meat option offered was turkey patties unless I wanted to pay extra for steak or chicken. I chose the chicken and received two grilled pieces clearly the type used for salads. Unfortunately, they were overcooked and dry. This is exactly why I avoid chicken and waffles made with chicken breast it's the driest cut and never a good pairing. The cinnamon French toast itself was excellent flavorful and a huge portion that honestly could've been a full meal on its own. The eggs were fine, and the hash browns were tasty, though I later learned you have to choose between hash browns or meat, not both. My friend ordered the vegetarian omelet and thought it was just okay. Neither of us finished our meals. The plates looked nice, but overall the flavors were pretty mild. I love diner food, so I really wanted to enjoy this place. While the conversation with my friend was great, the food didn't live up to the experience. Cozy Corner seems to shine most with their sweets, and I'd definitely recommend the cinnamon French toast. If I'm in the area again, I might give them another try, but the limited alternative options make me hesitant. I do think offering turkey bacon like other diners such as White Palace Grill, would be a great improvement. For my first experience, I'd give Cozy Corner at 6349 N Clark a 2.5 out of 5.

I got the corned beef hash which came with an option to get a side of one of their fancy pancakes! The hash was great and great portion size too! It was pretty standard but no complaints here and the bread it came with was nice and fluffy. I'd totally get brunch from here again!
