This business has a very long history of negative reviews, descriptions of vile, unwelcoming, rude, abusive, toxic, and unprofessional behavior spanning more than a decade. Reviews I wish we had read before subjecting ourselves and our group to the wholly unacceptable abusive behavior of the owner. Our small group of fewer than 10 adults were the only people at the property upon checking in. The first words owner Rob Snyder spoke was "I hate groups" while continuing with "they drain my resources." If this wasn't the only game in town, we would have turned heel right then. I suspect this captive audience situation is THE reason the owner has been able to stay in business for so long. Ok, so there's 30+ campsites and 3 rustic cabins on the property. Assuming a full house with just two guests at each site, that's 66 guests. But 9 tenters occupying two campsites were referenced as resource drains. Every one of our group who interacted with the owner over a two-day period was treated with abusive behavior. Three in our group arrived before the two organizers and immediately left to wait off property because of the abuse they received upon walking through the door. We ended up leaving the property before our planned departure because of the owner's abusive behavior. An article hangs on the wall in the storefront about how owner Rob Snyder created this place as a community social hub. Ironic that this precious land has become home to the most negative energy and mean spiritedness that everyone in our group has ever experienced from a lodging proprietor anywhere in their travels. The experience made exponentially worse because our group was comprised mostly of outdoorists of color who felt vulnerable to begin with and were all new to this rural area. Guests we brought here because we expected the environment to be physically and emotionally safe (again, we should have read the reviews and literally stayed anywhere except there). Guaranteed none of us will be returning to this property under the current ownership - and will not be returning under new ownership until there are multiple years of positive online reviews. Guaranteed we are spreading the word about the inhospitable experience and toxic behavior of the owner. This property is currently for sale for $2 million dollars. read more

Owner (older gent) is a little rough on the edges, but it's nothing someone with good people skills can't handle. Tons of options for spots to pitch up a tent, all at a very competitive rate for ALL the amenities accessible. Stewart who works the afternoon shift is amazingly helpful and great with guests. Having the general store/deli was a huge plus. Despite what they advertise breakfast is not offered, they do lunch-dinner starting at 2pm. Bathrooms were well maintained, clean, and conveniently located next to the market. Your a 10 minute walk from the ozette ranger station which accesses some amazing trails to Cape Alva and the Wedding Rock petroglyphs. We even got to see some bears!! I was on a road trip through Washington and we went to Olympic national park. We had no campsite to stay at and the Lost Resort took us in! They were so kind and said they don't turn people away and they'll find room for us! We loved our site and the store upfront had everything we needed: great dinner, breakfast in the morning, and great espresso! We were comfortable and were so happy with the experience! We also loved the fact they had a bathroom and shower connected to the store! A lowkey spot we enjoyed. Everyone was patient because there was only one attendant taking care of all the food, check ins, ice cream orders, everything. I really appreciated everyone was patient. Overall great vibes! We wanted to go camping as a part of my Birthday trip but unfortunately since we hadn't planned our trip it was impossible to find a campsite on a sunny afternoon in August. We drove around for hours and went to almost every campsite just to find out there were no empty spots. We drove some more and my friend made the call to drive to Ozette as a 'Last Resort' we were looking at 20+ miles of unpaved, dirt road and we finally reached there at 7.40 PM, crossing our fingers! We were greeted by a lady behind the counter whom I spoke to, she started off by saying 'Happy Birthday', which was really pleasant n she also said there were a few camp sites available and our faces lit up! they even had bathroom facilities for guests and a paid shower attached to a small but well stocked convenience store that also sells coffee and some food. We immediately went and set up our camp at the campsite as the clouds began to gather and quickly made a small fire to cook up a quick dinner. An hour and a half had passed, we had eaten, our tent was all set up and it was beginning to pour but we recounted on what a day it was and how wonderful it truly was to be out there. The next morning we took a walk around and spotted some deers, we also went into the store where the same wonderful lady greeted us and got some coffee to go, when we left we did so with great memories. It's mid September & we got an amazing camp site right in front of the store. Well it's actually 5 sites, but we were the only ones. * front desk/ store clerk isn't all to friendly or helpful. If you ask her questions she mumbles & talks in circles. We order 3 soft serve ice creams which were only filled maybe 1/2 " from the top of the cone & the ice cream didn't even touch the sides of the cone. Def not worth the 2.25 each !! The items in the store is double to triple the amount you'd pay in town. * showers are $3.00 for guest and $6 for non guest. Showers are only open during store hours. read more

I wouldn't know how the service was, since I didn't get any. We went in to inquire about camping/rates. There was a women working on 08/24/2012 who was busy putting away cold drinks in a freezer. We made eye contact, smiled. I went to the front desk, and waited waited waited. She would look over every now and then, but never came to talk to me, or ask what I could be helped with. Lost Resort? Not even if it was my LAST Resort. First: The owner is a nasty, dismissive jerk. Completely rude and unhelpful, down to rolling his eyes when we asked for driving directions - pro-tip, buddy: treating your guests (who are your bread and butter) as though they are loathsome intruders is *probably* not a great business practice. Consider moving into a different line of work. Second: The cabin was FILTHY. I'm fairly sure that the last time it was cleaned was right around the end of the Great Depression. Dead bugs on the floor, it reeked of mildew and felt damp and clammy. Third: The outdoor toilets were overflowing and smelled like a sewage treatment plant found in the 7th circle of Dante's Inferno. I would strongly advise against ANYONE staying here, unless you enjoy being mistreated or you get a kick out of spending far too much money on substandard accommodations. You're better off sleeping in your car than wasting a dime at this "resort". read more

There are three cabins around in the back, each with a double bed and twin bunk-beds, plus a chair and a table with a chair, and an electric fire heater. On the beds are sheets and pillows with pillowcases but no blankets. Each cabin has a porch with a large water container, and on the grass in front of each cabin is a picnic table and a fire pit. The showers and bathrooms are located on the side of the office cum general store/deli which is down the road. The showers are open only when the office is open; the bathrooms are accessible 24/7. We arrived in December to go hiking and the owner was quite happy to sell us some water bottles (I'm blonde, I forget this stuff sometimes, okay?). Anyway, we got back and he was closed and talking with a friend... But sold us more water anyway, (we were really quite thirsty after 10 miles or so of hiking that day) and most importantly made me this awesome latte despite being closed, which helped keep me going as I proceeded to drive my "run to the south" from Ozette out to the 101 and straight down through to South Bend, all in the same day as having driven from Bremerton to Ozette and having hiked ten miles. So, I rate them really high for the kind service given in the middle of winter to us crazy nuts who hike when the days are short and the weather cold. read more

This is one place you do NOT want to book. They nickel and dime you for every extra--even showers! Their cancellation requirement is two weeks before date of stay; however, we made our reservation only four days before our date of stay, so we obviously could not cancel our reservation two weeks before. Even so, we did cancel just 12 hours after making our reservation and they refused to refund our money. Guess they must have been hurting for money to be so sleazy to refuse a refund after only 12 hours. BTW, no place we've ever stayed has required anything more than 72 hours' cancellation notice. We suspect their cancellation requirement of 2 weeks is their strategy to never give any refund. On principle alone, stay away from The Lost Resort. read more

I would have to agree wit hthe above reviewer. If you want to camp you might just want to stay at the national park. When we where there 1 month later they had raised the shower fee to $6 are you serious. the single flush tioilet they had was sort of working the sink was about to fall of the wall and when I noticed it getting low on TP I let the gentleman know i think he was the owner and he said "we will get to it when we get to it" Good luck on calling the place also the women who answers the phone at night understands english but doesnt speak it that well. Granted the camping was cheap so what was I to expect I really think they could have a good place if they raised the rate and put in a coin operated shower. Then they would still see the money and could limit the shower time. read more

The Lost Resort store is the only store that's even remotely close to the Lake Ozette campground, and after my experience this weekend, I will never set foot in that store again, even if that means I have to drive 25 miles to Clallam Bay. The owner and the clerk at Lost Resort are mean and nasty women who treat their customers horribly, and will even call you horrible names if you dare to ask the wrong question or look at them the wrong way. I've never ever ever had a store clerk treat me with such disdain and disrespect, and I'm truly shocked they're still in business. Avoid this little shithole at all costs!!! read more

Stayed there August 2015 Pros: cabins pretty clean (don't look under the beds), but clean sheets and clean table. 5 gallon water on porch. Great ice cold beer, good pizza. Close to Ozette for hike Cons: Bathrooms. Port a potties near campground and cabins are disgusting, choose using the woods over those. Clean bathroom in store and one next to store that is open 24 hours. So basically 1-2 bathrooms for all of campground or cabins to use. Staff was not in any rush, certainly not friendly. Next time we do hike, will book at Lake Crescent and take 2 hour drive to get to Ozette. It could be an awesome place if they added more clean bathrooms and friendlier staff. read more

Yippee! Free Wi-Fi! Friendly, knowledgeable local owner/operator with lots of "goodies" in the store, plus great breakfasts and deli. Plenty of cold drinks. I stayed in cabin numero uno and found it cozy and fun. It was well maintained, warm, and equipped just as described on the website. Ask for cabin #1, as it is the closest to the store, and has two porter potties just one campsite away, so it's almost like having it in your backyard. A large 10-gallon canister can serve as a washer or even a shower, if you place it up on the bench. What more can you ask? Given that this is the only housing in Lake Ozette area, I highly praise the owner for its existence. Don't forget to ask about Ozette Organics farm, or visit it yourself. There, I found extremely rare PNW berry preserves, including thimbleberry, red elderberry and salal. read more

We stayed at The Lost Resort for two nights, since we wanted to hike the Cape Alava (and other) trails. We found the cabin we rented to be clean and just perfect for our stay. No "musty" smell--nice and new log construction. It was beautiful at night--no noise, no light what so ever; it was a bit like stepping back in time. We truly enjoyed being off the grid, though we realized we could've used wi-fi down at the lodge. We enjoyed hearing about a fellow hiker's encounter with a cougar on the Cape trail. My boyfriend and i had planned a trip to cape alava to see the tide pools. we researched this resort and were really excited about it. we wanted to stay in a cabin in order to have access to a bathroom and shower and read that the resort had a charming cafe/bar/general store that would suit our needs perfectly. the place did not live up to our expectations. the cabin was great but that was it. we were nickle and dimed for everything. i was so pissed when i asked them to unlock the bathroom and was told that showers were $3, even though i had shelled out $60 for one night in a cabin and over $40 for 2 sandwiches, 2 drinks and a six pack. my advice, camp at the park and buy all of your supplies before you get there. oh, and their claim of providing free wifi is completely bogus. read more

We stayed in one of the cabins and also tented when a cabin was not available. The cabins are quite clean and very well maintained. Note: they provide sheets and pillows but not blankets. There is no plumbing, but portable water is provided. The campsites are generally large and private. At the General Store/restaurant, the food was good and prices quite good considering everything west of Port Angeles is very expensive. And cold microbrews after a long hike are a great treat. The woman working at the resort on the weekends was very attentive and friendly, and she told wonderful stories about living in this part of Washington. All in all, we had a great experience, contrary to some other reviews. Remember, you are in a remote location and everything is expensive and no one is getting rich out there. We found both the owner and his employee to be very helpful during our stay and courteous to the other guests. Don't expect to be spoiled just because you showed up, be respectful; it's hard to make a living out there and most people go there to experience the outdoors, not a four star hotel. read more

the owner of the lost resort called me this morning to offer me a job running his general store. Since I don't have a car I was going to stay in an RV at the resort for the summer. First of all he was going to charge me three or four hundred a month to rent the rv and when I informed him that my nineteen year old daughter and my sixteen year old daughter would be staying there with me, he instantly turned into a shrieking screaming demon. I am the best employee he would ever have but now he has wasted weeks of my time while I waited for his decision and he has destroyed every single plan I had. I wouldn't work for him if he were the last person on earth and I hope nobody stays at his hole in the wall resort. But, that's what lawyers are for. read more

Definitely NOT pet friendly. No signs saying so posted anywhere when we went in, paid, and set up our camp. In fact the neighbor who sold Jam down the road said the resort even allowed pets. Obviously not now. Don't go 20 miles down the road thinking you and your dog will find a restful place to camp.... you will not find it here. read more
