This is now going to be one of our top favorite restaurants. I had the overnight pot roast with whipped mash, and broccoli and my husband had the crusted salmon. Both were absolutely fabulous. Although it's tucked away in an unassuming business district, this restaurant is truly a hidden gem. From the moment we walked in, we were impressed by the warm, inviting space and exceptional service. Everyone made us feel welcome, and the attention to detail throughout our meal was outstanding. We started with the Ahi Tuna appetizer, which was absolutely delicious. It was served over a bed of crisp sliced cucumbers and the most amazing vinegar coleslaw. The combination of flavors was fresh, light, and memorable. Even the warm dinner rolls were outstanding and set the tone for the meal. For our entrées, the meatloaf was everything comfort food should be. It was tender, juicy, and perfectly seasoned, served over creamy mashed potatoes with fresh French green beans. We also ordered the Chef's seasonal Squash Casserole, and it was phenomenal. If it's on the menu when you visit, don't miss it. Milner's way exceeded our expectations: wonderful food, great service, and a welcoming atmosphere made for a memorable evening. We will absolutely make the trip back the next time we're in Winston-Salem.

We started with fried pickles, they were perfect & the dipping sauce took it over the top. Our young one loved them. We all enjoyed our entrées from fried chicken to grits. We shared and all had a taste of all that was ordered. No complaints Going on 7pm & I am still full. High-lights was the chicken, potatoes were delicious, French toast, mac/cheese, okay pretty much everything was delicious. Lauren and all the crew we came contact with were awesome.

We started with the blueberry THC Yum Yum, which was so good! Light, fruity, and really refreshing. The Caesar salad with Parmesan and focaccia croutons... need I say more?! So good. The tuna crudo was incredibly fresh, and my salmon was delicious. The mustard sauce had a nice sweetness to it, and the corn purée paired perfectly with the vegetables. In my husband's words, his scallop dish was a 10/10. I didn't try the scallops, but I loved the succotash! It was corn-heavy with bacon, white kidney beans, and a few other things I couldn't quite identify, but everything worked so well together. We finished with the apple hand pies served with vanilla ice cream -- definitely recommend saving room for dessert! Another great meal at Sage & Salt! Ricky and Jeremy behind the bar are fabulous!!!

We started with the beet salad and calamari. The beet salad was nice. It was tossed in the vinaigrette and had two different types of beets. The calamari was fried well and was a good portion. The Grilled Chicken Orecchiette was flavorful and tasty. I think the noddles were a bit strange for this dish. The meal tasted great and the noodles were cooked well but I just wasn't sure if I would have chose these noodles to go with this dish. The restaurant was backed though so people do seem to like it.

The turkey, apple, brie on Gf bread was delicious. If you look at the image you might say "it's not toasted?" But for dietary restricted this is actually a wonderful attention to detail. The kitchen could not toast my bread without increasing my risk of cross contamination. My drink arrived and unfortunately a bug flew straight in and took a swim. When I brought this up to Alexis she immediately got me a new drink and resolved the issue. Issues and errors happen but I commend Alexis and RBL for how they handled the scenario. I ordered the Salmon BLT (hold the bacon) on sourdough with a side of sweet potato fries, and oh my goodness it was so good! The portion size was very generous and definitely filling. The herbed mayo tied everything together perfectly it was *chef's kiss*! They also serve the sweet potato fries with a cinnamon butter for dipping, which was good. I also had a Caesar salad. It was exactly what you'd want from a Caesar salad fresh, flavorful, and another generous portion. If you're a fan of salmon and/or sandwiches, I definitely recommend giving this a try. Who knew a salmon sandwich could be this good? I'll definitely be back! There is parking off to the side though, it is very limited. Be prepared to parallel park !

On the host's recommendation we chose to go inside and sit at the bar. I had not been inside before as I usually opt for the outside seating so I was surprised to see that the interior was more roomy than I had imagined. Once we were seated, near the soothing water feature with a Koi pond, our waitress promptly took our drink orders and apologized for any inconvenience if we were waiting for table and service. Once we got our drinks they served us several orders of warm bread with several different butter choices. At that point, we ordered our main menu items. Service was prompt and went smoothly. We didn't have to wait very long for our food to arrive. The food was very good and there were no complaints from our group. I ordered Ahi Tuna salad. It was a large portion w the Tuna perched on top making an appetizing display. It was reasonably priced at $18, in my opinion, as it was a large salad and I wasn't able to eat the whole thing. Our group had a very pleasant, unrushed time at this restaurant and the host was always nearby and happy to answer questions and chat with us. When we walked in we were greeted by a very friendly host who put us at a window seat which was really nice. I love having a view with my meal. The space is also very reminiscent of fine dining with the white table cloths, candles, and flowers on the table. It's also worth saying they have several lunch specials aside from what's on their regular lunch menu. Our server was also a very friendly gentleman who gave great recs when we asked. My friend got the French onion dumplings and she LOVED them. I got the brussel sprouts and with the accompaniment of the goat cheese and dried cranberries, they were probably the best I've ever had. I almost ate all of the huge bowl. I got the chicken sandwich for my meal that was dipped in a hot honey like sauce and it was also great. A friendly server brought us water and we were able to order drinks and appetizers. The restaurant on the ground floor was not large but it was very nice looking and modern. There is an upstairs that we didn't see. The waiting area is large which is nice because I imagine at time there is a wait. It is an upscale place though you saw a variety in patrons there. Anyway, we ordered the pot roast nachos and a cup of the soup du jour which came very quickly. Both were excellent and a great start to the meal. Someone decided to bring us bread that we didn't order which was nice. It was probably a good thing the server spilled the water at our table and gave us the bread for free since we didn't order it. again, anyway, the entrees came and they looked good. Seafood risotto was cooked well, not over done. And there was a lot of it. The fried chicken was also nicely cooked. Both were under seasoned and needed salt which is not my favorite when in a restaurant such as this. However, it is also understandable. Once we were done, our server informed us that they were treating us to dessert (because it was our anniversary) and brought us their warm brown with ice cream. It was delicious. We scraped the plate clean. It was a lovely meal and lovely evening.

I had the dark meat fried chicken with collard greens, a fresh side salad, and mac & cheese that was honestly unforgettable. The chicken was fried to perfection -- crispy, crunchy skin that stayed put and juicy meat inside. The collards were seasoned just right, the salad was super fresh, and yes, the ranch passed the Midwest test. The mac & cheese was the real standout -- that perfect mix of creamy and baked that makes you want to order a second serving. On top of the food, the service was impeccable -- attentive without being pushy, and they never let an empty plate linger on the table. The whole experience felt elevated and stylish while still keeping the food soulful and comforting. If you love soul food (or even if you're just curious), you have to try this spot.
