I want so badly to put this place as a 5 as it was absolutely charming. And my qualms may not be those of others. So, let's get them out of the way...the beds were VERY firm (though firm seems to be the norm in Ireland). These were a bit to firm and you could hear the springs as you moved. Only other issue was our room was in a building with maybe 5 other rooms. But, we all come in through a main door downstairs and walk up the wood stairs to get to the room. The door downstairs also needs to be shut firmly in order to close - especially if the wind is bad. So, if you're a light sleeper, like I am, it can be a bit much. Luckily, there's not a ton going on in the town, so even if people are coming in late it won't be too late.
On to the great things! First off, the grounds are beautiful. Definitely gives you an old world feel as you walk up to check in. The staff was so friendly and helpful! Easy to check in, get help, we even used the laundry service (wash, dry, fold) for 20 euros and received our laundry back within less than 2 hours.
The hotel is a short walk from Hotel Doolin and in the middle of the two areas of the town with restaurants. There was also a bathroom, multiple dishwashers, fridges, a stovetop, dining room table, large tv, and books available on the first floor of our building. So, if you had a group or wanted to cook that's available - but we assumed it was so everyone to use as it wasn't locked and in a common area.
Also, we booked through Priceline and our breakfast was included, otherwise most of the breakfasts were 10 euro. The staff there was also very nice and attentive.
We did the walk from the hotel to the cliffs of moher and just left our bags under the stairwell until we came back. The staff is willing to hold bags at the desk, but if they're on lunch the doors will be locked. We returned with our 2 bags undisturbed.
To sum up, I would highly recommend staying here!!! It was so lovely and our favorite town we've been to yet! read more
