We are big fans of the Local Cow. I appreciate their outdoor seating, fun beer selection (bottles), and lively atmosphere. Pre-pandemic, it was not uncommon to see them packed with a short line, although things move pretty fast. The burgers are very good. They have a lot of flavor and choices. I also discovered their wedge salad, which is perhaps one of my favorite restaurant salads. Great customer service and the BEST fried pickles I've ever had in my life! I was expecting salty, soggy chips but instead got crispy panko coated spears that were tender inside but still had some "bite." Absolutely delicious! For burgers, we ordered the Pendleton and the Rockwood with regular fries. Both were flavorful and cooked well done, as requested, but not burnt. This is a cute little burger joint in Gresham. Came here to meet up with a friend to chat and to get ourselves a burger. She ordered the daily special and I ordered the Hawaii Burger (asked for the pineapple on the side). The burgers were yummy, not unique, just yummy. Their burgers are served with a side of Tim's Cascade Potato chips, if you want fries instead, it's $1 extra. Service was good, she checked in a few times with us and refilled our water. my wife and i are visiting portland from st. louis for christmas. we were looking for a local restaurant to eat at last night and stumbled upon this establishment. we walked in and it was nicely decorated and very festive. we got seated right away and our server was really nice. we ordered our food and the first thing we got was their local cow fries which consisted of rosemary garlic, truffle oil, and parmesan. it was decently good but we wished it had more truffle flavor, it was a bit strong on the rosemary aspect. we got our burgers shortly after, i got the wilson hill burger; and my wife did the build your own. the food overall was really good but very greasy. considering it was only $46 for 2 burgers and an appetizer, we would go here again if we ever come back. read more

Holy cheese balls of fire don't forget the redonk fries... yeah yeah yeah I'm not the biggest fan of the burgers here why because I like giant burger kind of white people refer to a stunt burgers. Or a cheap greasy Smashburger. Granted this is a place that whenever people find out I live by that's where they wanna meet and that's where they want to eat so that should say a lot about the place. But I'm not a big fan of a quarter pound burger with a bunch of stuff dressing it up. Now while I am a fan of his cheese fried things and fried cheese and if that is one thing they do great those cheeseballs are one of them. Not only that but they have quite a bit of different kinds of fries great toppings everything from Cajun fries all the way up to blue cheese sausage and spicy peppers... Now granted some people might not think 'hey fries a meal' but you know what I think they're wrong... They just aren't getting big enough rise and that's their problem anything can be a meal if you eat enough of it am I right? So if you're a normal 'hamburger civilian' if you will I am sure you'll enjoy the burgers here but for me a person that wants a good half pound or full pound of meat in between them buns and you might wanna think about their appetizers the fries are cheeseballs and everything that are on top of em... enjoy and find out why people like this place so much and remember, support downtown Gresham and it's cute little shops because I live right next to it... Me and my family went to dine at the local cow. When it came to ordering the waiter was very kind. We all ordered plain cheeseburgers. When the food came out there was no cheese on my burger so I asked for some right? When the waiter brought my food back to me there was barley any cheese on the burger... I asked again for more cheese and when he came back with my food there was the same amount of cheese on my burger!! And it wasn't a busy night at all so there was so excuse. I gave this place another try and when they gave me my burger the bun was soggy and wet...! I don't want to hate on this restaurant because other then that the food was pretty good! read more

Local Cow is my favorite burger place in Portland. I've tried almost every burger here as well. With every bite, you can tell how fresh their ingredients are. When ordering here, you have to upgrade to the Local Cow Fries. These fries are served with garlic and I believe rosemary. These are so addicting and delicious. I literally come back to Portland just to get burgers here. I highly recommend this location if you want the freshest burgers in town. I am not of age yet but I also see that they have a wide selection of alcohol that could be worth exploring. read more

Thought the name to be cute when nephew & nieces who live locally suggested to-go from this place for the family meal: I chose the Hawaii 503 ... but of course, as I grew up on Oahu. However, I'm sorry to say I was disappointed: the thin slices of ham seemed overcooked (on the grill), as well as the burger itself. The chips were good, but overly salted. I might consider trying something different from this place in the future with hopes of a better review, as I do like supporting independent businesses, but for my next Hawaiian burger - I'll return to that well known chain with endless fries. read more

First of all, the entrance is the same as the corner candy store but once you get in the doorway to the left is the actual candy store entrance and to the right is the local cow entrance. Took us a quick second to figure that out (p.s. def recommend going to the candy store afterward too. Got some candy and ice cream). The local cow was highly recommended and they were not wrong. I was not disappointed. The burgers were big, the cheese was melting off, and my taste buds were loving it! I ordered the Melting Moo that was so good, I wanted everyone else to taste it. If you're on the east side and not interested in battling Portland traffic for a good burger, the Local Cow is the place to be! Be sure to pair your meal with a "Local Logger" Lager. I took my father in law out here and we had a great time! The place is right next to the hoppy brewer and had it been warmer and sunnier we would have "hopped" over and tried their selection of beers. (They let you go back and forth) But as it was, we were totally comfy at the local cow we both ordered one of their signature 1/3 lb burgers. I ended up getting the Chupacabra since I like spicy. The beef was good (the bacon was AMAZING) and the burger itself was satisfying. Pairing with a good lager is a must! One criticism that I have is that the burger itself can be a little on the salty side. The combination of the patty and the bacon will do that. If you're going to have that much salt, (not to mention along with the fries and/or chips), then I feel the burger needs a giant slice of tomato to balance out the flavor profile. You might be able to ask to add tomato, or put a little ketchup on your burger to compliment the saltiness. Otherwise, great place for a burger! read more

We've had this place a few times now (dining in and take out) and have always enjoyed the food and service, but last night the food was awful... Maybe they just had an off night but it's likely we will not go back. The amount of money you pay for what we received, is not worth it. The fries were hard and stale, the burgers were dry, buns were clearly burnt and the wedge salad was a huge disappointment and nothing like how they use to make them. I should have taken pictures of the food but didn't think about it until after we decided not to continue eating and we had already threw it away at that point. I would say try it for yourself but don't have high expectations as it seems they may not be as good as they use to. read more

My second visit rates a mention. They have good food. Not great, but really good bordering on great. The food is made with quality products. The first bite of my hamburger sliders told me I was in for a treat. You could taste quality beef in the first bite. So sorry when eating the last bite. Seasoned truffle fries are delicious. Don't order two orders unless you are REALLY hungry. An order of fries in this place is enough for two, or three if you are light eaters. What really made are visit special was the people who worked there. Our waitress Cris was a gem. She was prompt, courteous, and went out of her way to serve our party of 12, celebrating a birthday. The prices here are on the medium to high side. But I don't mind paying a little more if you get what your paying for. I recommend this place.
