Stopped by for dessert tonight. Soooo good. Always great service. Thank you to the bartender for a great mocktail!

I don't usually give 5 stars but I have been to The Local 218 a number of times and the quality of food is very consistent and delicious. We started tonight with a delicious calamari with two dipping sauces, a tangy lemon aioli and a sweet and spicy sauce. We then had Caesar's salads which had a perfect amount of dressing which was evenly balanced with plenty of garlic and anchovy paste! Emily our awesome server then brought our main courses, carbonara and beef stroganoff. The beef carbonara is prepared a bit differently with the steak cooked to order and place on top off the pasta. The steak was perfectly prepared but the sauce was lacking the required cream cheese to really be yummy. The carbonara on the other hand was delightful. The sauce was perfect, the seasoning was precise and the soft topped off this dish. Did I mention the Manhattan was perfect! I don't care for sweet Manhattans and this one was not at all.

***DO NOT GET the scallops

I was in the Brainerd area for work and was told to come here. I was excited and they actually had Yelp reservations. That worked out very nice. The restaurant was extremely slow on a Saturday afternoon and I was somewhat surprised. They had a pretty fancy menu and the prices were high for what I would guess the locals would want to pay for lunch. The scallop appetizer was $18. It sounded really good so I ordered it as well as another person with me. This was a mistake. We got our food and I noticed the scallop didn't have the sear that is desired on it, but I wasn't going to complain. The portion was also small for the area and the price. I was going to just eat it and hopefully fall in love. It was plated nicely though! Upon one bite, I knew there was something off about the taste. The risotto tasted sour and the scallop tasted like bait. I never send food back, but there was something wrong about this dish. Waitress took both of the scallop dishes away and I ordered a Cesar salad and she ordered a bowl of clam chowder instead since we were running out of time. While waiting for our replacement lunch, both of our stomachs started turning. We ordered sprites and continued working. It got worse... the server came over and said "Thank you for saying something... we found out what it was." My eyes were the size of watermelons and my stomach was churning even more. I was thinking "good thing I went with my gut, because if I would have eaten one more of this... how would I be feeling." The Caesar salad was basic, but it was safer than the scallops. The server brought over our bill and I was shocked that she didn't comp the salad and soup due to whatever she found out that wasn't safe about the scallop meal. (I still have no clue what was really wrong with it!). I had to go work an event after and drive home and my stomach continued churning. I took Pepto and that controlled it a little, but ended up in the bathroom 3x within an hour and a half after my scallop bite. I have never experienced anything like this before and never want to again. I was willing to pay $18 for a scallop meal that wouldn't get me sick, but maybe it should be pulled from the menu if most people don't order it and they go bad. Also, from being a server, I would have comped the salad and soup for a table if something was extremely wrong with the food. I will not go here again and also will urge people to stay away. I guarantee it's not just the scallops you will get sick from.

Food was good but a little spendy for a restaurant not on the water. Lots of parking around the building.

Not celiac friendly. Small portions. Waitress had absolutely no knowledge of what gluten was.

Family friendly, with varied menu. Good steak tips, great wings. Skip the lamb gyro. Nice beers on tap. All around a pleasant experience!

The food was very good, but portions were small, so make sure you order appetizers unless you want to leave hungry.

Pet friendly patio was a huge plus which is in part why we chose this place…read more Ourt server was delightful and made great recommendations and brought us a little pup water bowl along with our waters. Food ordered: Onion rings Macaroni and cheese which is the good old kraft mac n cheese for kiddos. Rigatoni Jambalaya bowl Greek chicken salad with a lot of great vegetables. Green chick peas were tasty. Turkey melt Beet and grapefruit salad. Food selection was pretty decent, but prices were a bit steep. Service was excellent and the deck area was very charming and again, pet friendly which was a huge plus. Great place. Great service!

Friendly service, plus the 3 appetizers we had were delicious. We also had mixed drinks plus try out the "You pour your microbrew" Where they give you a card. You go pour your owe beer. They charge by the oz. Seems like a great idea. Just make sure you can pour your brew correctly. You still pay foam. I like the place alot and recommend the Woods. However outside on the far side by the side parking lot. Beware of the walkway. Their is a dropoff. You could fall and hurt yourself. I noticed a few people didn't catch that and stumble. Hopefully management will place a yellow tap to bring attention to the dropoff. Check out the picture. I added text. I will be back for the food.

One of Crosslake's Best-Kept Secrets!…read more If you haven't tried Mad Rabbits in Crosslake, you're missing out on one of those little hidden gems that deserves a lot more attention! The food is fresh, hearty, flavorful, and just plain GOOD. They have some great comfort-food dishes that feel homemade but still have that little something extra. I had the Jambalaya Pasta, and WOW. Absolutely delicious! Full of flavor, hearty enough to fill you up, and definitely something I would order again. Mad Rabbits sits just off the main strip near the Town Square, so it can be easy to drive right past without realizing what you're missing. In my opinion, it's one of Crosslake's best-kept secrets. The restaurant itself is also adorable. You can tell a lot of thought went into the decor, the atmosphere is inviting, and the seating is actually comfortable -- which I appreciate! Service can occasionally be a little slower, but this is a family-run business, and I'll gladly give a little grace to a local family putting out genuinely good, fresh food. I could easily see a restaurant like this thriving in a much bigger city. So if you're in Crosslake and trying to decide where to have dinner, get off the main strip and give Mad Rabbits a try. Grab a comfortable seat, order something hearty, and definitely give that Jambalaya Pasta a shot! Supporting a great local family business AND getting a delicious dinner? That's a win in my book.

What a FABULOUS little place! Outside it's nondescript. Inside it's a gem!…read more Service was sensational. The drinks and food were too. The highlights were the lobster cerviche lettuce wraps and the beef stroganoff (my hubby said it was ok - he's spoiled by mine - but everyone else raved about it!). I had the Blueberry Pecan Chicken Salad and it was one of the best salads I've had. Our visit was part of an annual friend-cabin-weekend thing and we will DEFINITELY go back! ‍
