Juan, Amanda, and the staff set out to accomplish a goal of a community hangout with good, tasty food and drink, and do they EVER deliver! The mural on the patio, flowers, and fans outside create a beautiful, chill environment for anyone, especially a creative graduate student such as myself. Inside, it's modern, chill, and plants everywhere. And the food... THE FOOD. With a recently updated menu, their sandwiches are fantastic, their avocado toast to die for, and unique drink creations such as the June-only coffee special Dreamsicle Latte, I've been coming here for months and have yet to be disappointed in any way--food, drink, or staff. They're dog-friendly here too, with water bowls inside and outside. The staff is kind, chill, helpful, and love to share their favorites on the menu. Located in the Fort Houston complex, this cute coffee shop offers drinks and sandwiches with community work space as well. They have a beautiful outdoor space with twinkle lights and a mural that looks great for a summer work meeting, work space or meet up with friends! Came in today with three coworkers for lunch - it was my first time visit the coffee shop and I was pleasantly surprised by the food given the smaller size of the shop. I ordered the turkey, bacon, avocado and it was SO GOOD! My job is about five minutes away and I would drive over for this sandwich. You could taste the toastedness of the sandwich and the avocado was so fresh! They had assorted beverage options from la croix to beer - I opted for tap water because I was planning on buying a coffee post lunch. They also have chips available for purchase. My other coworkers purchased the gallery salad and found it to be filling and delicious. The shop also has other sandwiches, pastries and bagel options. The cashier let us know that we could sit in their main area or go down the gallery in the next shop if they didn't have an event going on. There are about two to three tables that seat four people but you can fit a larger group at the gallery downstairs as the seating is more community workspace environment. I ordered a large brown sugar cinnamon iced coffee and it was delicious - the perfect pick me up for the afternoon at work. read more

We discovered this place on Yelp and the reviews were correct! My Turkey, bacon and Avocado sandwich was truly delightful. The service is a walk-up to the counter, but they did deliver to our table. The ambiance was unique, as it doubled as a shared workspace and coffeehouse. It was a large, open room with local, original art on the walls. I'm craving the sandwich right now as I write this! I stopped in today to grab some lunch and was immediately hit in the face by the all to familiar "cafe panini grill" smell. You know, the one that sticks to your clothes if you linger in a place too long, so I immediately ordered my food to go. I got a very basic sandwich with tomato, cheese, and basil pesto. The bread was wet and soggy. The tomatoes were mealy. The mozzarella was chewy. I have no idea what they were trying to accomplish by placing these ingredients on a hoagie but the result was simply a mess. The bread is too soft to hold up to all these wet ingredients and it had been warmed which made it a literal hot mess. read more

Imagine. Its raining so hard it sounds like buckets are pouring straight from the sky. You have a 2.5 year old with who is Mr. Independent and you've just finished a warm Campfire Seasonal latte and a mini hot chocolate. You don't want to be stranded in the store but your car is several spaces down. You're fully masked, but obviously still looking a little distraught, the barrista looks at you and says, "I hope everything was wonderful and please borrow an umbrella to stay dry while going to your car." What?!?! The was the most unexpected, kind, good human offer I received for the day. She wasn't worried that she's never seen me before, she took care with making sure the 2.5 yr olds drink was a proper "kid temperature " and made me feel see and cared for! Gosh, that is service from a coffee shop with a smile. The latte was great! I'm usually one for a traditional brew, but was feeling festive. The art inside is gorgeous and so much fun to look at. We stopped by here for a late breakfast. Unfortunately we were in a hurry and it took a very long time. Apparently they had misplaced our ticket and had not put our order in. This somehow keeps happening to me. I guess I just shouldn't go out to eat if I am already a bit hungry. They did end up comping our food. The place has a smaller space upstairs that's the main cafe but is attached to an event space downstairs you can also sit in. As the event space was shared, I wondered whose responsibility it was to clean it as it felt a bit neglected. The food was fine and the drinks were good. The staff were friendly. I thought I was going to Tempo but I got mixed up. Of course Tempo is not far but I didn't realize that and I was in a hurry. My heart was set on breakfast tacos so anything else was a let down. I got the hoagie breakfast sandwich with bacon. It would have been better toasted and if I order it again I'll skip the avocado. I could hardly taste the bacon for the avocado. It was a good sandwich, nothing especially great or unique. The eggs were well scrambled and cheesy. (It was not breakfast tacos.) I did like the offering of teas. I had a lemon ginger tea that was quite good. Everything just sort of seemed meh. I thought the Brightside bakery selection would be greater. TLD just had croissant. Brightside's website looks crazy good. I didn't see any Caity's Pies, that would have improved everything. Once again there were those ubiquitous, mean little chairs. Flat & hard like sitting on a bench. Where's the comfort? Who ever sells those things should stop it. Enough already. I'll be surprised if TLD makes it but what do I know about such things? Went here for the first time today and had a great experience. I got the breakfast burrito for $5.75 and a chai latte, for about $6. Literally the best tasting chai latte I've ever had! The breakfast burrito is grilled, and full of goodness. I highly recommend checking out this cool place. The two women working the counter were so friendly, and helpful. Great custom service! The Loading Dock was recommended to me by my supervisor as it's right around the corner from our office. The atmosphere is delightful, quiet, and emphasizes local artists. I had no issues connecting to the WiFi and the women working the counter were incredibly kind and friendly. I got the Bee Sting and the Roast Beef sandwich. First of all, I've never been a spicy coffee person - but the bee sting was incredible. It had the perfect amount of sting nestled into the sweet creaminess without being too rich or sweet or too spicy. It was perfect. The sandwich was delicious with melted cheese and roast beef with a crispy buttery baguette. Definitely will be returning! read more

With the Houston/Wedgewood area becoming such a hit, I was really excited to try out The Loading Dock. I plugged it into my GPS and was on my way. It's in a very interesting location where I didn't know anything actually was. I have seen the Mac fixing store from the highway but didn't realize there was a cool little artsy scene going on behind it. The Loading Dock is connected to Fort Houston if you are familiar with that. I have seen their mural (Love Y'all) all over social but didn't realize this is where it was. You won't be able to miss The Loading Dock because they also have a fun colorful mural on their outside patio. It put a smile on my face on a very cloudy day. It felt like summer (in winter)! The Loading Dock is a pretty small shop but has a very cool vibe. They display local art on the wall that is for sale. I love when places do this. Local businesses supporting each other! Whoop whoop! It was pretty busy for a weekday afternoon so I'm happy to see people know and love the space. Now I will say, I am not a coffee drinker. However, coffee shops always have something on the menu for people like me. While The Loading Dock doesn't have a huge menu, it has all of the basics that one would need. They also have an impressive array of beverage choices in their fridge. I believe I spotted some beer. And then there were drinks like matte and coca-cola. It was a cold day so I went with a classic English Breakfast tea. I was also a little hungry and ordered the bagel breakfast sandwich. My tea was steaming hot and I was able to add some milk to it. Perfect. We grabbed a seat at a wood top table and got to work. Our food was out pretty quickly. My sandwich was really delicious. The bacon was nice and thick. The everything bagel added some nice flavor. I think it was just egg, cheese, and bacon but it perfection! It was the afternoon pick-me-up I needed.
