a fish tank with fish in it

Delicious Chinese food for large groups. They have a decent sized buffet. Ice only come here with large groups and for good reason. The service is awesome for large groups and the food is quite good. It's more American style Chinese food so it's a tad heavy. But every morsel is delicious and will satisfy any persons appetite for Chinese food. I guarantee you will be stuffed if you come here. I throughly enjoyed the eggplant dish and I would say it's a must order!

Such an amazing place! From the fish tank at the front entrance, to the decorations and even the ceiling! Which was absolutely beautiful btw. The service was top notch and the food was so good. I haven't found a won ton soup I have liked since I was a teenager and theirs definitely took the number 1 spot!

Always wanted to try this place and finally got the chance to. Big plenty filled eggs rolls, perfectly fried dry garlic ribs, Cantonese chow mein, beef and pea pods, special fried rice .... taste of great Chinese food! Service was excellent, food very delish - hot, fresh and tasty. Plus the ambiance is exquisite! Highly recommended place you need to try.

Buffet menu - weekends & game nights.

The BUFFET. THE buffet! WHY have I never tried it before?!! Served on Weekends and Game nights, this is the best way to get some of the best of everything! FIVE - count them 5! items are glutenfree! There are six Vegetarian items as well! I'm told the green onion cakes are fabulous... AND if you are gluten free they will bring you spring rolls from the kitchen that are safe for you to eat! Also included is a bowl of soup - there is a gluten free option! Sadly the dessert donut is not gluten free, but smells fantastic. My dining companion happily devoured mine. On the Buffet menu: (this Dec 24th visit - menu may change) Wonton soup (Opt GF chicken rice soup) Green Onion Cake (V) Vegetarian Spring Rolls (V) Vietnamese Spring Rolls Vegetable Fried Rice (GF, V) Hong Kong Style Chow Mein (V) Aristocratic Mixed Greens (GF, V) Szechuen Beef (GF) Dry Spicy Chicken Pineapple Chicken Balls Wok Fried Mandarin Shrimp (GF) Imperial Peppercorn Beef (GF) Chef's Special of the Day Chinese Mini Donuts Adult $27, Children (6-12) $15 Senior (60+) $24 Dear me - there was PLENTY for my gluten free gluttony to eat! I tried allllll of the gluten free options, and my favourite was the Imperial Peppercorn Beef followed closely by the Wok Fried Mandarin Shrimp, and neck 'n neck with the Szechuen Beef. I went back for thirds on all of those. We also ordered a peaches & cream shrimp. Oh my we pretty much quibble over the last morsel. And I don't really like peaches. That's how much we like this dish! We also ordered a bottle of wine with dinner... in case we did not finish it with supper, our server Ray assured us we could cork it and take it with us. Who am I kidding, that nearly never happens, but, good to ask, just in case. I contemplated ordering from the drink menu (old-timey paper placemat with a zillion Trader Vic's kind of drinks) but decided to keep it simple with the wine. While we were there, one of the Edmonton Oilers #44 had been dining, and Amy the owner (of Chicken for Lunch as well - if you haven't watched Quon Dynasty, you must), had photos with him, and some unsuspecting guests. Never a dull moment when Amy is around! Had a great chat with Miles Quon after supper... it had been one crazy day. *IF* you plan to visit on Dec 24th (it's tradition for some folks!) Make a reservation - drop-in, you might have to wait. Pre-ordering for suppertime pickup on Dec 24th... yeahhhhh, that's iffy. The kitchen was just slammed (in other terms - overwhelmed with orders), people were scurrying like crazy and there was a backlog of take-out orders. It's Christmas... be kind to the folks and tip well - they really work hard to get you the AMAZING food they are known for. Gluten free: yes! Vegetarian: yes! Cool decor: yes! EXCELLENT food: YES! One of Edmonton's staple restaurants by one of the longest-running joints in town. A Do Not Miss kind of place if you are visiting!

We usually go with the combination dinners which include wonton soup, spring rolls, chicken, fried rice, and two entrées. We went to eat in person this week, and the service was excellent. We went on a Thursday so the ambiance was quite quiet but it's a nice clean space with very friendly staff and the food is even better fresh from the kitchen. I'll definitely be coming back to try more of the authentic Chinese food.

However, it can be a challenge to find a parking spot if people are attending church at the time you arrive. My family has been eating here for a few years and I even celebrated my 25th wedding anniversary here. Alex and the rest of the staff ensures all the customers are well taken care of. He had heart balloons and flowers for our table which made the occasion even more special. The food is fabulous, the peaches and shrimp dish is so good as well as the beef with Gai lan and the tofu assorted vegetable hot pot. Noodles and desserts are great as well! We have tried so many dishes here it is hard to name them all. This restaurant is also on SkipTheDishes and with my referral, my office has ordered on several occasions. Everyone was very happy with their lunch choices! Excellent food and service, prices are very reasonable and if this restaurant was closer to my home, we would be eating her all the time!

Huge change from the dark paint and warehouse styling from the previous AYCE sushi place. They have divided the space nicely including a large private room. It also helps that YEG's notorious Boyle St Co-op, formerly next door, has been raised to the ground, thus moving the hardcore zombies a few blocks north. You can actually park your vehicle safely in their free lot now, for up to 2 hours. Security is watching and even checks in with you when you park. As for the food, in my experience it's all been great! The menu is a funny combo of different cuisines, definitely befitting the name "bistro". There are a variety of asian dishes (Chinese, Japanese, Thai), HK-style foods and very traditional western cuisine like beef bourguignon. That one intrigues me, super old school and looks really good. There are also some set menus that come with drinks. It's one of the few places I feel spoiled for interesting selection, hard to make a choice. Chinatown Dining Week has brought me back here three times in as many weeks, got hooked by the beef and sour veg steamed in a lotus wrap. This visit my husband got the gyukatsu set, which was really good if you can live with slightly sweet Glico-style curry. The omurice was perfect. Their katsu particularly is really, really good, better than your average schnitzel, and much cheaper! Have been back a few times and even brought the extended family. There's something for everyone! Everything we've tried has been tasty, fresh and a generous portion. Previously we tried the bistro premium fried rice which had scallops and tobiko, delicious. My food-restricted niece tried the crispy shrimp appy, which were really tasty and more like prawn-size. Not sure she got many back after offering to share with the table. Ah Chinatown. Been coming here my whole life but always get the side-eye, usually from the owner, until ordering. The experience wouldn't be the same without it. The other staff were more genuinely friendly and happy the food was enjoyed. One01Bistro is officially a new family favourite, especially before events at Rogers Place. Psst also... cheap beer.

Also a great place to watch the Oiler playoffs if you are not interested in a noisy pub.

The only thing that I can say about the service was that the food was ready with pick up. We had the family dinner for 4 - Sweet and Sour Chicken, Crispy Ginger Beef, Mixed Vegetables w/Garlic, Spring Rolls (4) and Chicken fried Rice. The sweet and sour chicken batter was dry and the chicken inside was stringy. The crispy ginger beef was not crispy but chewy and lacked beef. Spring rolls had good flavour but spent a bit too much time in the fryer. The chicken fried rice was bland. The only dish that was good wsa the mixed vegetables with garlic. Perfectly cooked and very flavourful. Also they didn't send sauces. Next take out night i will take my business somewhere else.

We quickly grabbed a new set where multiple sets were ready for distribution when neccessary. As Asians, we generally wash all of our bowls and utensils prior using as our practice with hot water or tea (depending on what you ask for). Food - 4/5. The chicken casserole was flavourful, just a lot of bones. The beef was very soft and tender. The sweet and sour pork chops had a thick tangy sauce but good that it had a light batter around the meat, which kept the meat moist. The chicken is the typical dish you can get at most Chinese restaurants. It was interesting that it actually sat in a soy sauce base. The ginger sauce is missing the typical green onions. However, it was seasoned quite well. I didn't take a picture of dessert though. It was red bean with glutinous rice sweet soup. I actually quite enjoyed it. Overall: 3.5/5. It's an ok place to try if you are in the area. It's has free parking. Just be vigilent with the bowls and utensils.
