If in area this is a MUST stop!! Don't let the outside appearance fool you. This place has fantastic food. I got the the famous Onion Burger on a Bun which was perfectly cooked. A definite favorite. The only negative is that it is tiny, and thus there's hardly ever a seat available. But it's relatively cheap, good diner food, in a fun 50s atmosphere. And you get free Lemon Drops when you leave. Awesome place! read more

I don't see how or why anyone could give this place any less than 5 stars. I grew up eating here, my family knew/knows the owner really well so it's been in my diet since I was a little kid! The food is inexpensive and GOOD. The atmosphere is small and the owner hasn't even tried to upgrade his space which just adds to the feel of this old fashion diner. This place is famous for their onion burger - never had and never will cause I'm not a fan of onions. My order is a double cheeseburger (that comes on toast) with some lettuce, tomato, and pickles with some fries. The servers don't write down your order yet they NEVER mess it up. Always hot and cooked to order! If you're in the area for some god forsaken reason, this place is a must! It'll make your odd little trek through Anderson somewhat worthwhile. This is the best restaurant in Anderson. They've won awards for their onion burgers. Great cherry and vanilla cokes. Small seating, but worth the wait if you have to. Local favorite. Typical greasy diner. Certainly nothing special, and I don't understand all the high ratings. The breaded tenderloin was the worst I've ever had - a low quality frozen patty that's worse than what my high school served for lunch back in the day. The fries, onion rings, and other things we ordered were all ok, but none were good. The only saving grace (and only reason they aren't getting a one-star) was the onion burger that had onions cooked in between two burger patties. While on a sightseeing trip, we were guided here by the Indiana Tenderloin Trail list and the Tenderloin sandwich here did not disappoint (it was on the small side as I recall, but delicious). I born and raised all my life here in Middletown near Anderson. My parent always take me to lemon drop because it's my favorite restaurant than anywhere else. Several famous people include Peyton manning (former colts quarterback) ate there too. Before I go to northern Illinois university for college and make sure I eat at lemon drop.... Also before I move and live in Singapore which is locate at southern east of Asia and I make sure I eat at lemon drop.. I can't live without lemon drop restaurant haha.... Got married and move back to Indiana. During my marriage life me and my wife and my daughters went eat there... We like eat there... After our divorce because ex-wife lie and cheat on me with loser ugly man Todd eww eww. Ex-wife don't like lemon drop... Now stupid ex-wife married to ugly Todd eww eww eww.. My mom and I went into the lemon drop today and the food was great, although the service was horrible ... Instead of our waitress coming to check on us to see if we needed refills or if our food was ok she was behind the bar talking to a co worker ... Actually another waitress helped us out! We had to go up and ask for a refill! We were very upset! Also I walked into the place by myself and sat down to wait for my mom, I was not greeted like any of the other guest who came in. I'm not saying the lemon drop is racist but I am a mixed girl and and all the people that they were nice to and greeted was white! My waitress was friendly and checked on all her other customers but me and my mom! All they did was stare at me ! I've lived here all my life, and I've probably ridden by the Lemon Drop gosh knows how many times and never went in. Well one day my mum, and my sister and I decided we'd check it out. When we first got inside I was hit with the feeling of old classic diner, it was amazing. We were lucky and it wasn't very busy and we got seated majorly fast. The lady brought us our water and asked us if we were ready to order. We told her it was our first time here, she smiled and said well welcome. Told us that the menu was up on the board and that she'd be back when we were ready. My lil sister order the breaded chicken sandwich, fries, and a cheese cup, I ordered a double cheeseburger, with the same sides, mum got a salad, and the onion burger, and all three of us got drinks. When the food arrived we were not disappointed. The hamburger was thin and down right delicious, the fries were crispy and perfect, and the drinks were amazing. Mum loved her onion burger and salad. The price was very good for all we got. The staff is amazing and we've been there so much the main cook knows us as the girls. xD To this day Lemon Drop is my favorite burger joint, and the only place my little sister will eat a hamburger from. So it rightly deserves in my opinion the stars. read more
