Amazing !!! We've always heard of this place but dumb me always thought it was all about crab ! We both were pleasantly surprised by the food ! I had the chuck roast and my wife had the spaghetti and meat balls ! We also had some cheesecake ! The Chuck roast was one of the best I've ever had , it was so tender and very flavorful , melted in my mouth ! Wife's spaghetti she loved as well exclaimed that the meatballs flavor reminded her of a place in Rome we enjoy a few years ago ! We're were the only ones eating , the others were drinking alcohol only as we don't drink ever ) (Im allergic ) to alcohol and my wife never has ! They don't know what their missing with the food !!! Heard good things about this place. Given jelly jar glasses with a bottle filled with warm tapwater. Had to ask for ice. I went and got menus for our table while our server chowed down next to the bar. Small drink servings. Ordered the Korean ribs, which were tough, fatty, gristly, and ultimately inedible. Was charged $18, while the menu lists them at $15. Worst dining experience in years. Server appeared uninterested. Do not recommend. read more

We happened to be exploring the coast and stumbled upon the laughing crab, and were pleasantly surprised with a live band, fun lively atmosphere filled with dancing, a tight knit community vibe, and were blown away with the quality and taste of the food when it arrived. The taste far exceeded our expectations, and the price was more than fair. I've never had parsnip purée, however the surf and turf dish has changed that for sure. If you're in town I strongly recommend the laughing crab, and specifically the Surf and Turf and Cedar Plank Salmon! Rumor has it Paul Rudd was spotted eating here! read more

The wife and I ventured out and dined at the Laughing Crab which is under new ownership. We enjoyed the food so much we went two nights in a row. On the first night my wife had the Braised Miso Black Cod and Carrot Purée with mixed greens. The Cod was perfect! A real signature dish. The purée was good, the salad greens were underdressed compared to the salad greens that came with my Gambas Al ajillo which came with roasted garlic, grilled polenta and a Calabrian Veloute sauce with mascarpone and basil. That sauce! I mixed it in with the spring mix and would be a meal in itself. The shrimp were peel and eat which is okay. My thinking is if the shrimp were cooked without the shells in the sauce they would have absorbed more of the great sauce flavor. Whatever, I'll be ordering this dish often! BTW, the polenta was perfect, moist with great flavor. Night number two we ordered the onion soup to share along with two specials, grilled octopus and poke, two of our favorite things. Both came with, you guessed it, Spring Mix. All were well seasoned and enjoyable. We were both very pleased with the food. We sat at the bar one night and at a table the second night and the chairs are comfortable for my bad back. Waitstaff were friendly and timely on stopping by. The ambiance was nice, it's a great spot on Bay St. Enjoyed the classic jazz they had playing. They do have live music and dancing on the weekends. read more

My first visit to this lovely restaurant because they don't open until 4 pm I love this place. The ambiance was so relaxing. The art work was spectacular and exceptional. The service could not have been better. And to top it off, the food wS top quality. I had the ambassador al Apollo colossal tiger prawns with grilled polenta and for dessert, a lovely lemon bar. Music was soft jazz. My only suggestion was resell the prawns. No one likes to fight shells. It would also allow the fantastic, succulent, perfect cause to surround the prawns. ( that's why scomas in San Francisco and has a lazy man's fish doup...no shells.) All in all, I rate this place a 9.5 out of 10. Perfect evening. read more

We all went to the Laughing Crab last night, there were 7 of us in total. We were so happy with the service, the atmosphere and the amazing food we were served. We ordered the salmon special, the steak and shrimp special, several orders of the steak tacos, and a green salad. ALL the food was delicious!! I personally had the steak tacos. There were 3 tacos all filled generously with tender juicy steak pieces and came with wonderful sauces. We stayed for DJ Anthony and what a fun time we had! This place is so fun and bursting with positive energy! It was great to walk around inside and see all the amazing local art pieces. There are all kinds of fun seating areas amongst the art, seating at the bar and a few outside tables with umbrellas. I picked a comfy couch, relaxed and took my time sampling wine. The owner even gave my a bonus pour to settle a dispute at the bar on if it was good or not. It was delicious and I left with a bottle of it! Kimberly was very rude. Made what should have been a lovely tasting and day dissapointing. Many folks came in and out and did not get asked for ID. I ordered a tasting for my daughter who is (30) and she refused to serve her since she didn't have ID with her. However the girl standing right next to her was served. We are from Central Oregon and brought our dear friends from Florida to the Oregon coast. We discovered this gem of an art gallery/wine tasting venue. Owner was delightful and had a lovely selection of wines. And really good music as well! Really surprised with the positive vibes of this business! Very inviting and friendly new gallery in this great little town. When you walk in it's got this nice opening space with soothing earth colors and refinished wood. The front windows just bring in natural light to bring out all the cool handmade, (including local) art that's located on the walls, or hanging from the ceiling, to the glass cabinets. Gary, one of the owners creates fabulous metal work and the subject is usually ocean related. The gallery is about 2 blocks from the ocean after all. There are lots of other work such as driftwood and glass bead mobiles to lovely handmade bead and eclectic jewelry. Lots of wonderful paintings adorn the walls and many other items to look at. The prices are also very reasonable too. Finally, the owners are welcoming and easy to talk with about any of the pieces you are interested in knowing more about. I am STILL trying to find that laughing crab however. She's got to be around there somewhere. read more

Our reservation was lost and we were kept waiting and then given a tiny make shift table and hard cold chairs in front of the open and cold door. We were unable to see or be near the music and charged a cover for it. The service was slow,prices sky high,and a so called cheese and meat platter (tiny) for $22 was just cheap crap and 4 glasses of wine between two of us for a total of 94$. Stopped in last night (Friday) for a glass of wine. They had the MOST amazing band there singing beautiful folk-style music. The staff was super nice and they had a terrific wine selection. They also have a fabulous array of art by local artists. My husband and I sat on a comfy overstuffed couch as we listened to the music and I picked up a cool leather cuff to add to my jewelry collection. This is my new go-to spot in old town! read more

We commissioned a smaller version of a large metal laser sculpture of a whale fluke we had seen previously in the gallery. The result was incredible! I was concerned that reducing the size of the larger piece, would somehow affect the beauty of the smaller version. Nothing could have been further from the truth. The finished piece brought tears to my eyes, it was gorgeous! The movement of the piece is uncanny! At times it seems as though the water is really flowing from the fluke, and at others just sparkling from them. The other remarkable aspect of the piece are the colors. Depending upon the sun's reflection, or not, the colors vary so amazingly that the fluke will be more blue, or even orange at any given time! We will always be grateful to the artist, Gary T. Manos, for this lovely treasure, and to his wife Kim for facilitating this whole wonderful process! read more

You need to try their crab chowder! We've been trying all the "award winning" chowders in Florence and this is by far the best. It has generous recognizable pieces of toothsome crab in it, unlike others around town. It is also a fun gallery filled with whimsical art and offering live music and wine in the evenings with comfortable seating areas from which to enjoy it all. read more

This cute little gem has amazing hospitality. They were brand new when we went and allowed us to sit and enjoy a bottle of wine inside. The owner was very personable and even made us a little charcuterie board on the house since they weren't doing tastings yet. I can't wait to watch this business grow and thrive!
