    devil's own aged rum

Amazing variety of rum, the gentleman who assisted us was so knowledgeable and made the experience worth it by itself. The coconut, gold, and ginger rums were my favorite, but all were great. $5 per tasting, but it's waived if you buy a bottle. Can't recommend enough l.

Stillwagon Distillery was without a doubt the BEST stop we made in Old Town Florence. April was very informative and very personable. She really made our day!!!!! I will be telling all my friends in Southern Oregon about this place and will be visiting again soon. Thank you April!! YOU ARE AWESOME!!!!! Theresa Bennett and Karen McClain Jacksonville, Oregon

    Rum tasting $5

As we were strolling through the historic downtown of Florence, we saw some people leaving a barbershop with the front of it having a small rum tasting room area. No one was in the barbershop but we went in and chatted with the women doing rum samples. My mom and I decided to share some sample because I really don't like rum on it's own and sharing a tasting was more than enough. The tastings are $5 and honestly it feels a little overprices for the teeny tiny little thimble sized amounts you get but they did let us try a few different ones which was nice. I myself would need to try them in a mixed drink because on their own it's pretty strong. It was a fun little thing to partake in but I don't really see myself coming back now that I've done it once. Definitely geared towards tourists but if you like rum you should give it a shot!

I haven't visited the distillery/retail space, so can't speak to its interior or characteristics,…read morehowever I happened upon their booth at the Portland King Farmer's Market, and what a surprising gem I discovered! Visiting from Utah (we have kooky liquor laws here), it was a complete novelty to find someone selling alcohol at a farmer's market. We did the thing where we were standing some distance away, discussing if we should check it out, maybe it would be better to hit it as we left...and the gentleman manning the booth motioned us over, saying he had a hot toddy for us to taste. He was so charmingly friendly, we could hardly refuse, and I'm always open to trying a bit of anything. Friends, that hot toddy was perfection. I don't really drink, but I could totally imagine myself reclining by a fire, sipping a bit on an autumn or winter's night. My husband, who decidedly IS a drinker, loved it as well. Perfectly flavored, it tasted strongly of real apples, with a light sweetness that (dangerously?) hid the alcohol. It included both their apple brandy and apple liquor, and you can pick up a recipe at the booth (or just take a picture as I did, and have included below). I also tried a nip of the strawberry rhubarb apertif, which was very sweet (though not too much!), and brought to mind a superior version of port. I was into it. They also sell peppermint, ginger, and pomegranate liquors, along with a ryegrass whiskey. I believe all were available in either 375 or 750ml bottles, for around $20 and $30, respectively. The packaging is beautiful and high quality, and you can purchase their products at a few brick and mortar retailers, as well as online at liquorama.net, however you'd be doing yourself a disservice by not experiencing the hospitality of the company directly, either by visiting the farmers market, or even better (I imagine), their tasting room. Not wishing to be burdened by heavy bottles of liquor for our trip, I limited us to just one, and we opted for the apple brandy. I can't wait to use it for baking, and I know we'll be serving lucky guests hot toddies as the weather cools.
