To start we ordered the Seoul wings with Korean sweet chilli. They were a bit pricey for the 8 piece but were so great on flavor. For my entree I had the hot stone bibimbop with steak and wow the portion was huge and everything was great! The kimchi tasted like homemade kimchi it's worth it and you even get a free refill of kimchi. My wife ordered the steak bulgogi meal which essentially the same that I got minus the egg and smaller portion. Also no hot stone to keep it nice and warm. The atmosphere is great for a date night with art all over the walls and all the silverware including chopsticks in gold. Galbi plate was a great choice for sharing between two people. Pair it with mandu and Korean donut for dessert and you have yourself a good dinner! Server was friendly and came on our table to check in on us frequently that he kept refilling our glasses. The galbi was tender and flavorful. The banchan was also great. Though not sure if the sides here are refillable, but it's definitely enough. The donut was a bit crunchy and fluffy inside, but wish they had cooked it a minute longer. Nonetheless, I like the inside decor. Paintings all over. It was pretty cool. Bathroom was also clean. Parking can be hectic, so park at the back if you don't want to wait. read more

So glad to have an authentic Korean restaurant in Miami! The food was delicious and the service was excellent. The decor is nice and there was a good energy. We received our appetizer fairly quickly, but the main dishes took about an hour to come out. Our server Andrew acknowledged that they were having some difficulties with beingshortstaffed, and we appreciated his honesty. However, it was worth the wait though! When my half-Korean self found out there was a new Korean restaurant here in Kendall, I was so excited!! My daughter had a drop off event at her school, so my husband and I came here for dinner. This is by the same owner as Kimbob which I have actually not been to yet. But as far as I know it's the only full Korean menu restaurant in this area We got there just before 7:30 pm, and there were a handful of tables full. By 8:15 pm they were all full and there was a small wait. The restaurants design is simple and casual while also being classy. The tables are decorated nicely, and everything is black with gold trim. Sides were white but also with gold trim, and the side plate and chopsticks were gold. I ordered the Kiss of Seoul cocktail which is a Korean raspberry wine. It was sweet and tasty with a sparkling component. It was filling too, but I actually didn't taste any alcohol in it. For starters, we had the Korean Mandu and the Tteok-Bokki. The Mandu was fried to the perfect crisp and were so good. The Tteok-Bokki, a condensed rice cake mixed with cabbage in a sauce was really good. My husband thought it was just okay, but he had never had it before. For me, it brought back nostalgic comfort food feelings. We did go with the sweet soy sauce instead of the chili paste as per the traditional cooking since my husband didn't want spicy. It was different for me still good. From there I ordered the Hot Stone Bibimbap which also came with some banchan dishes including soy bean sprouts, kimchi, Japchae noodles, and veggie pancakes. I was going to order these but saw they came in this combo. They were delicious, as was all the banchan and the bibimbap. My husband had the rice and bulgogi dish which also came with banchan, and he really liked it. The presentation of all the food was gorgeous and made it feel like we had a Korean feast. I will say the menu was a bit pricey and didn't have a ton of options. But it did have all the basics and a couple good extras, and it came with the option to choose whichever meat you'd like. The Korean Chef is a great restaurant. As soon as you walk in the decoration is very simple just as if you were in Korea. This was my first time at this restaurant and the hostess was the head chef (in charge of this location) The decor is simple yet modern and the lighting was bright. The menu has lots of options from rice and noodle dishes to broths and set meals. It is all separated and easy to understand. The waiter was helpful but I was lucky enough to be able to ask the chef for some recommendations. I tried the kimchi stew like dish with tofu and added a side of spicy pork which was not too spicy and very flavorful. All side dishes were spectacular, cabbage, glass noodles, zucchini kimchi, white rice.... etc. Everything was delicious. Prices are mixed.. there are some dishes that seem to be more expensive than others but I guess it has to do with quantity and preparation. I had soju to drink. It is similar to sake but on the stronger side. It is actually quite nice to drink this while enjoying Korean food. I had the original flavor or no flavor added but they offer different types of Soju. This occasion I was dinning solo, but I will definitely come back and bring my friends to try it. The restaurant is nice. It is a small space but the tables and chairs are set up well where it does not feel overcrowded. The art on the walls was beautiful and there is a plaque at the entrance that said the owners brother was the artist. They are fantastic. We did feel it was too bright which gave it more of a informal dining experience vibe than a nice sit down restaurant. One unfortunate thing is that they are currently not serving alcohol although wine, beer and cocktails are on the menu. That definitely takes away from the experience. Specially that this is not mentioned before they seat you. Now the food, we had the Korean Mandu which are dumplings. They were very tasty and enough for two. We also ordered the Korean wings. They were sweet and tangy and for an appetizer a large amount. For the main course, my husband and I shared the Korean premium Galbi meal. It was more than enough for both of us despite the waiter saying it was for one. There was a lot of short rib. It was flavorful and tender. It came with small sides like rice, kimchi and glass noodles. The kimchi was my favorite. Overall it was a good meal but definitely a sharing meal. It is very pricey at $48. One thing I did not like was the utensils. They only gave chop sticks. These are metal/gold ones because of this they really do not grip well. We were not offered other utensils and the short rib has a bone that you can not remove with chop sticks. I didn't like the small gold plates either. Mine kept spinning/moving when I was eating. I think this restaurant can be a nice place to eat but it is new and I feel it has something's to improve. I recently saw this restaurant in the search I did and decided it was a must try. I am certainly not disappointed that I did. Let me start by saying that Korean food is one of my favorites and since first try it, I look at short ribs in a whole new way. I am also a fan of Bulgogi. I love the many soups and stews most Korean restaurant serve as well. But in the end, I always come back to the Galbi. It is simply my favorite. For that reason, I will start there. The gal be here may be the best I've ever eaten. Flavorful and tender it is over the top delicious. The portion that is served as huge and if you don't have a really big appetite, I recommend sharing it or planning on bringing some home. But if you love Galbi like I love Galbi, you will not be disappointed. The Bulgogi is also excellent. The meat is tender and delicious. If you order the chicken, keep in mind that it is dark meat and if you prefer white meat, you may not like it. But the beef is so flavorful that you may even forget that you like chicken. The service is excellent in the ambience is interesting. Paintings by an artist who is a family member of the chef adore the restaurant and our lovely. It is really a comfortable and delightful place to eat at. And the service could not be any better. Sadly, they do not have the stews that I look for it at Korean restaurants I visited in the past, but I have absolutely no complaints because what is on the menu is more than enough for me to leave feeling I have had an awesome meal The main reason for four stars is a banchan. One of the things that attracts me the most to Korean food are these delightful and shareable side dishes. However, the ones here are not served complementary, our individual portions, and are generally uninspired. Well, I thought they tasted OK they did not match the excellence of the main dishes nor the traditional enjoyment of sharing these as part of the experience of the meal. The first thing that grabbed me was the atmosphere. Warm lighting relaxed music and these really cool art pieces on the walls done by the owners brother. It has this personal cozy feel that makes you want to sit down and take your time instead of rushing through a meal. It feels like a spot that actually cares about its space and its guests...also, very clean. We started with the Rabokki in a sweet soy sauce and it was fantastic. The sauce had that deep savory sweetness and the rice cakes had the perfect chewy bite. I've had this dish before and I do feel I would like the red sauce more but still loved this variation. Then came the Korean fried popcorn chicken in a sweet chili sauce. Crispy on the outside tender inside and the sauce had just the right mix of sweet with a little heat. Just a solid dish all around and really satisfying. The bibimbop and galbi combo ended up being the highlight. The meat had this amazing glaze that gave every bite a rich slightly sweet flavor and the beef was tender and juicy. The rice was spot on with a perfect texture that tied everything together. The side dishes added so much extra flavor and variety. Each one brought something new to the plate and made the whole meal feel layered and exciting instead of just one note. The staff was incredibly friendly and genuinely welcoming which made the whole experience even better. For dessert we tried the bungeo ppang. Crispy super hot right out of the kitchen and filled with a custard that was smooth and not overly sweet. Paired with a Korean coffee it was the perfect finish. It is honestly awesome having a Korean spot this good in Kendall. Fresh food great flavors a warm atmosphere and a place that feels like it has real heart. Six out of five stars. The Kendall dining scene keeps getting better and better making one question driving to other areas to access great restaurants. Korean Chef is a great addition to the evolving Kendall dining scene. Walking through the entrance to the location, you can't help but notice all of the wonder art pieces on the wall The light music in the background and calmness of the location. Upon being seated, our waiter immediately stopped by the table to see if we wanted anything to drink and offered suggestions if we weren't sure what to order. If you've never had Korean food, you're in for a treat as it has a delightful sweet-savory balance along with spice. Not to worry if you're not a spice fan, you can ask to tone it down or if you like it more spicy, turn it up. The extensive multi-page menu offered many wonderful choices. We ended up ordering a raymun with spicy chicken and a Royal meal with bulgolgi. The food items arrived within a reasonable amount of time and were served piping hot. They had a great depth of flavor that had the perfect balance of heat, sweet, and tangy. I especially love the variety little sides (banchan) that accompany the bulgolgi. The food is delicious. Ordered the galbi set meal, with a sizzling pile of Korean short ribs served over a bed of onions on an iron skillet. I did not care for the banchan, which was average at best. It also comes with a dumpling, that came out of a frozen bag. All is redeemed though, by the sizzling galbi, what a sight. Also ordered the ramyun and taebokki which were very good. Service is well, strange. The waiter forgot to mention that the popcorn chicken and vegetable pancakes were out of stock, forgot our side of lettuce, and asked us multiple times if we were ready for the bill, in spite of our child still eating her meal. The dining room is minimalist, with a few landscape art pieces on the wall. In summary, the galbi itself deserves a visit, but be ready for sad banchan, and less than perfect service. read more

My partner and I went in for lunch for our 8 year anniversary. We loved it and will definitely be back to try more food. Absolutely DELICIOUS. We were greeted by a super friendly server named Alexis. He was so helpful and knew a lot about the food, the chef, and the restaurant. He recommended the Galbi (bbq short rib), I forgot the name of the special but it was a LOT of Galbi for 2. It came with sides of zucchini, bean sprouts, cabbage, glass noodles, veggie cakes, kimchi, & two bowls of white rice. (I don't know the Korean names of these sides sorry lol) We did end up eating everything. It was so so so good. Honestly it was so filling and definitely didn't need it and could barely fit it in buuuuut we wanted dessert and went for the donuts. Also sooo good. 3 huge pieces, soft and warm. The restaurant itself is so calming and clean. There are paintings around the walls that we really enjoyed. They had chill Korean music playing. It was nice. We don't have kids but I noticed they have a sign for people with strollers. They do carry around big plates so if you're coming in with your little ones, bring the more compact stroller that you can fold away easily. read more

I think it opened about 4 months ago but they're the same owners as KIMBOP which is a bit more casual. All the food was fresh, hot and came out pretty fast considering there was not one open table. I had the short ribs and my wife had like a short-rib stew both delicious! our dishes came with all the traditional Korean side fixings Kimchi, Bean Sprouts, etc. The hostess and Server were also extremely friendly and efficient. My wife and I are not experts in Korean food in any way. But basically we left this restaurant hungry after a total bill including tip of 90$. The easiest way to explain this restaurant is that this place resembles a high end Korean Restaurants where the portions are small. We ordered chicken wings, they were very good, but extremely small and overpriced. 8 small wings for 19$. The beef we ordered was ok but it tasted overcooked according to my palate. The sticky rice and vegetables were ok. Our server was ok. Bottom line, If you want to go to a fancy Korean restaurant, I suggest that you come to this restaurant. You will not be disappointed. The decor is very pretty and very clean. However if you have a simple palate and enjoy a generous amount of food as if you are going to a Spanish or Italian restaurant, you might want to rethink your choices. read more

I was craving noodles and decided to try this new place. We frequent the other establishment next door often for ramen and had seen The Korean Chef was opening. Automatically thought of this place as a go to. First impression was great ,clean nice ambiance not overly done decor spacious and was greeted immediately and sat. The waiter was friendly and the menu was descriptive and had appealing photos. We ordered an appetizer that was meant to be shared and that's exactly what we did the mighty appetizer combo was the most delicious flavorful dish I've had in a long time. I really liked this restaurant. Keep in mind I've never had Korean food before. They would've gotten five stars from me except for one thing. I didn't like the quality of the rice. It was very starchy, sticky and soft. Everything else was good. The space is nice. The decorations are nice. The chopsticks were nice, and when we asked for knives and forks they were nice. The trays of food are really nice. The servers were okay. I didn't get the impression our server really knew enough about the food, but he was nice. Basically you have your meat with little bowls of veggies and maybe some noodles on the side. Even though the veggies were not cooked, they taste good in whatever vinegar or other kind of seasoning they use. One of the little bowls had kimchi, which was good. I might go again, but the rice is important with this of food, and the whole meal would be better with some good quality rice. By the way, with most of the platters, they serve one bowl of rice, four or five little side dishes of vegetables, noodles, vegetable pancake and your meat. Overall the food was okay but the service was not good. We arrived at 6:02 and our main entree was served at 7:37. We ordered the Emperor's Feast but was served the Meat Lover's instead. About half an hour in, we were told that they had ran out of rice cakes even though our entree did not have rice cakes. Dishes were also served out of order, with some tables who arrived after us receiving the same dish before our group. The food was alright, the meat being a bit dry. To be fair, we had a large group, but we did call ahead to ensure that they could accommodate us. Seeing our bad experience, the owner offered to cover one of the dishes as "compensation". This restaurant is situated in small unassuming plaza on Kendall Drive just before reaching 107th Avenue when heading west from palmetto. The restaurant is tastefully decorated with clean modern decor and minimalist approach. The level of service truly made us feel special and then the food started coming out and flavors were next level. The search for good Korean food in Miami continues. If you have very little Korean food experience however, this place might appeal to you. Let's point out some positives, the fired chicken wings are super crunchy and tasty. The broth on the ramen was rich and flavorful (the noodles were a bit over cooked for my taste), the banchan aka little dishes that accompany main courses in Korea were all good. The galbi, marinated short rib, was highly disappointing. Under seasoned. It seems any place serving Korean bbq that does not have grills at the take always suffers this fate. Server was friendly, and had every table at the restaurant, which led to a huge lag time but maybe there was a call out. Totally excusable. I probably won't be back, but if you've never had Korean food, it's worth a try. read more

Great food! A lot is the same as their other restaurant kimbop (also recommend!) mainly the appetizers. They take a bit of a long time in both of their locations even if it's just a regular week day, so try to go before you reach the point of absolutely ravenous.
