Pretty cool dog stand at the market! The guy who runs it is very friendly, and the sausages are…read moregreat (especially when you load them up with tons of stuff). Only downside is that you might have to wait a while for your order if there are a few people, but this has to do with the owner's obsession to get the dogs perfect (so he only cooks a small number of sausages for a certain amount of time). Topping choices are good, and sauces are many. All around a good place to grab a quick snack while out on the waterfront for the day!

I was initially drawn in by this place because who I believe is the owner, and condiment connoisseur was showing some of his customers blends of sauces he thought would go best with their sausages/hot dogs. I went with the veggie dog. He informed me he tries to cook them in little batches because he thinks they taste best fresh. Fair enough! I waited about 5 minutes, he apologized several times for the wait but I didn't mind. When I got my dog he asked if I preferred barbeque sauce or mustard. I said mustard. After I said this it lead to a fantastic customization of toppings to add to my hot dog. The first was a Bulgarian cabbage slaw. Next he suggested I try a horse radish sauce and a sweet mustard he brings in from Boneheads BBQ. After that he recommended a type of shallot I think he said was from France, he also mentioned they were very hard to find. After I piled my veggie dog with these toppings he asked if I prefer tomatoes or pickles. I said tomatoes, so he suggested fresh diced tomatoes in a balsamic vinegar sauce he gets from the Mennonites. Of course, I accepted all of his recommendations. He told me to take a bite and tell him what I thought. It was fantastic. The Bulgarian cabbage slaw is an alternative to saurkraut I think, but its a bit more bitter. I liked it. The horse radish and sweet mustard added a pungent and sweet component to the cabbage slaw, the shallots were very subtle, but the tomatoes were really my favorite part, they added freshness to my veggie dog. Who knew deciding what would taste good on a hot dog could be such an art?!

First of all the staff couldn't have been more morose and completely checked out mentally. Not one seemed happy to be alive, honestly they all seemed to be waiting to UN alive themselves any second. I have seen more life in a funeral home. In all seriousness , I don't expect a song and dance, but staff who at least speak and don't have the saddest faces I have ever seen would have been nice. The food was not great either, soggy fries, the chicken burger had very little chicken in it, and the chocolate shake had Zero chocolate in it.... I went back to the counter and said that this vanilla shake was supposed ro be chocolate.... the staff member said " oh " made a new one put it on the counter and said not one more word. .. Also the milk shakes used to be made with ice cream. . Not any more. I can say thie will be the last time we visit this place that was once an icon ... so sad.

The fact that chickens die, just to end up at this place, is probably the most tragic thought I can…read morethink of at the moment. I ate here during burger week last year. I believe they had some sort of taco themed burger, and it wasn't bad. It wasn't the best burger id had, but certainly not the worst. Was meaning to try this place again on a regular day and unfortunately that day was today. I grabbed a chicken burger with fries while my fiance got the clam strips and a cheeseburger. I opened the bag to see 2 tiny little wrapped bags inside which ended up being the burgers. I took out my burger and was disappointed already. I expected a grilled patty or even a breaded patty. Nope. Just shredded chicken. I opened the buns and inside was a massacre. No sauce, no lettuce/tomato, no seasoning, no cheese. Literally just shredded chicken in a shitty bun. I googled them to see if maybe that's how they're supposed to come, because I was thinking they forgot my ingredients. Yep, that's just how they serve them. Dry chicken and bread tasted bland, and the fries were likely McCain. Boring. Fiancé's burger was miniature and bland as well. If you are someone who recommends this place, I shame you. This is the kind of food I'd put together from the fridge 3 days after a chicken dinner, high and drunk at 2am.. though something I'd make from chicken scraps would probably still be better.

I was meeting a friend downtown, so I used this as an excuse to swing by Eats since I'm downtown…read moremuch less than I should be. Centrally located on Argyle above the Grand Parade, it was a sunny but breezy day - perfect for eating outside. The menu on this bright red truck is pretty compact, mainly focused on burgers and hot dogs, although they're amped up versions of these handheld food classics. I'm talking a bacon-wrapped, deep fried hot dog; a donair sausage; these aren't your typical tube steaks. My friend snagged their poutine, while I went with the donair sausage and fries. It was a short wait, and soon we were on a bench in the Grand Parade while hungry starlings looked on with jealousy through their black, soulless eyes. The poutine was a big hit. Their fries are on the thin, shoestring end of the spectrum; similar to McDonald's in diameter but with the golden brown colour and the deeper flavour of a hand cut fry. The curds quickly yielded to the hot fries and gravy, which was rich and not too salty. All in all, a well executed version of one of our national dishes. The donair sausage was a good size, tucked away in a lightly toasted bun, with chopped onion, tomato and a squirt of donair sauce on top. I don't know if Eats makes their own donair sausages or procures them from elsewhere, but they're pretty darn good. They've got a smooth texture and a flavour that might not be exactly that of your typical donair, but it's earthy and spicy and a solid effort. The donair sauce added that pleasing bit of sweetness and the onions and tomatoes brought their tartness and acidity to the plate (cardboard box?), and also kept this from being a completely vegetable-free meal. Did I mention that this was also effectively my breakfast? Luckily my shameful breakfast was at least a tasty one. If I'm ever in the neighbourhood, I wouldn't hesitate to give one of their burgers a go, or maybe even the bacon-wrapped hot dog, just maybe not for my first meal of the day next time.

Full slab rib plate - juicy tender ribs with really sensational seasoning and light sauce. Love the house bbq sauce our order came with. Basket of cornbread - really dense cornbread which is unusual but I like the taste and texture. THREE meats - pulled pork melts like butter in your mouth so moist. 1/4 BBQ chicken leg - nicely done Smoked sausage - a nice option. Handcut fries - I wouldn't say I'm a fan, these were too mushy for me. Large potato salad - yes go for this all the way! It was a really nice side. Lots of onions though so if you don't like that well too bad. TWO meats - Beef Brisket - falling apart so delicate and good 1/4 BBQ chicken breast - again nicely done Large Mac n Cheese - a little spice hit I enjoyed but the kids didn't like it.
