This is, in my opinion, the best burger joint in Bedford. The products are always fresh. Burger patties are seasoned and cooked to perfection. Buns are tasty and never soggy. Their fries and onion rings are on point. Never overcooked and they are always generous with their servings. The staff, management and owners are always friendly, professional and courteous. They always seem to care about getting things right. The restaurant itself is clean and simple which is perfect for a burger and hotdog joint. Thumbs up to Boom Burger. You rock !!! read more

One of the burger joints from the great burger boom of 2013, Boom Burger has generally flown under the radar of its more centrally located peers, instead functioning as the local alternative to McDonalds in the Bedford West area. I stopped by on the way into work, and there was a small but steady stream of people coming in for food. This quasi-chain of two locations is definitely biting the Five Guys model, from its compact menu and way of ordering your burger toppings, to the sacks of potatoes on pallets. They're proudly PEI though, with island beef, Cows cheese and, of course, potatoes. You can't help but go traditional with their (figuratively speaking) lean menu, so I went with a double bacon cheeseburger, small fries and water, because I'm a health nut like that. I waited a few minutes for the orders ahead of me to go through, but was easily able to kill time thanks to the wonders of modern technology and BB's free, no-password-needed wifi. My order was called and I sat down with my bag of grease. In true Five Guys, er, Boom Burger style, the small fries was more like a medium or large, thanks to the full cup of fries and the extra that were sitting in the bottom of the bag. Unwrapping my burger, it looked like a tasty hot mess, with burger, cheese, and sautéed onions and mushrooms spilling out. All the toppings were great, making for lots of flavour. They also helped with the beef, as while it had a nice fresh beef flavour, it was on the dry side. The bun wasn't anything special, and could have stood to be slightly wider to contain everything and be a little heftier as well, as it was falling apart under the weight and moisture of all the toppings. My pile of carbs was on par with the burger - OK at best. The hand-cut fries were a fairly dark golden brown, but not as crispy as you'd want or expect for that shade. They also required a hefty dose of salt to get any flavour, and even then were noticeably bland. While it's nice that this place isn't a big multinational corporation, unless you're making a product that's worth the $18 that my meal cost, it's hard to justify your existence. read more

At first I wasn't sure what to expect from boom burger. I can say I was pleasantly surprised with my first experience. I ordered the big boom bacon cheeseburger and a large poutine... To split... The poutine on its own is a meal. Ordered at around 750, got our food at 813. With one order ahead of us. The poutine was amazing. Fresh cut fries, loads of cheesecurds and gravy... 8.99 My big boom was really good. As people told me, nothing fancy. Just a great tasting burger. Tried here for the first time for lunch on a HOT Tuesday in July 2020 at about 12:15. Lots of available parking. There was no one in line when we walked in, and we were greeted immediately by a friendly server. Another couple were waiting for their order. I tried the single patty cheeseburger with lettuce, tomato, mayo, ketchup, mustard and grilled onions. (a bit messy but delicious and just the right size). Small fries (only wanted a few, and the cup holds a few, but lots were at the bottom of the brown paper bag when we received it, so I felt like I had actually ordered a large that spilled over... lol). My friend had the Foxy Dill Burger (one of their specials with dill pickles, potato chips, dill mayo) and he enjoyed it as "above average." They have their own tomato plants growing in the restaurant by the tables at front, which are used in the food, and that's neat. There were maybe 8 or 9 tables for four people, which look to be naturally spaced enough to satisfy covid requirements, half were taken. The menu here isn't huge but I'd go back if I just felt like a random burger some day. I think milkshakes would be a nice addition. read more

I don't really think they know whether they want to be a fast food restaurant or not. They want to present their food like fast food, albeit with allegedly higher quality ingredients.. But the food takes as long to prepare and costs about as much (or more) than at a sit down table service restaurant. Don't get me wrong, the food is great and the staff are friendly. I just can't make sense of what they're trying to achieve here. On the one hand it tastes good, but on the other hand I don't want to have to spend that much money to eat a messy burger over a soaking single ply paper napkin. All while spending way more time than a typical lunch break...and of course going back to work covered in grease and yummy burger juice. So conflicted. read more

"BOOM": The sound of your lunch bill hitting the counter. I'm going to start with the positives about the food. First, the fries were cooked perfectly and were absolutely delicious! I ordered a large, which is too much to fit in their fry cups (about the size of a medium soft-drink cup). They fill the fry cup right to the top, then dump a bunch more fries into your (paper) order bag. I don't mean that in a bad way at all. It was a LOT of fries, and I certainly wasn't hungry at all at the end of my meal. The business has a P.E.I. connection, and inside they pitch their Island Beef and Island Potatoes as a selling point. Well the island came through with their potatoes, judging by my excellent fries. Next, the burger. I ordered a "Big Boom" (2 Patty) Bacon Cheeseburger. There is a great selection of toppings that you can choose from, and they are included in the price of the burger. I tried mine with mustard, pickles, grilled onions and grilled mushrooms. I recommend trying the grilled onions and grilled mushrooms - they added a nice flavour. As an adult, I wouldn't order a Little Boom (1 Patty) burger. I don't think I'd be satisfied with less than the 2 patty version. The "Island Beef" tasted good, but it wasn't anything mind-blowing. The imperfectly shaped patties were a plus for me. A sign that they do indeed make the patties from fresh ground beef rather than receive them in frozen puck form like the clown across the street. Now the bad stuff... I live nearby, so I had planned to take my burger and fries to go. No need to buy a soft drink. Just the burger and fries alone, plus my standard "10% tip if I'm taking out and the debit machine prompts for it", came to a whopping $18.95! YIKES! That's OK for a place where I want to eat occasionally as a treat, but at those prices I won't be going back often. I wouldn't even consider this place as an option if I was a family of four or more, looking for a reasonably priced lunch. I'm not a cheapskate. I'm just saying that while the food here is good, it isn't so good that it justifies the prices they charge. I went at noon on a weekday. If it were McDonald's or Tim Horton's, the place would be lined up. But Boomburger only had me and one other guy. The employees outnumbered the customers 2-to-1. Crazy. I don't know how this place can afford to stay in business. Maybe other customers are also turned off by the prices? Perhaps the lack of a drive-thru? Possibly being on the less-convenient side of Larry Uteck Blvd is a deal breaker for some? To sum it up, I thought the food was great, but the price point was way, way off. "better then McDonalds, but only just" We went in just to try it, the bugers werent bad, the selections were limited considering the class of burger place they feel they're in. Staff were quick to greet us and start making our food.... when your cheque number 7, you know theres a problem! Once our food arrived it was packed up to go, even though we were staying (bit confusing). the poutines we ordered were lukewarm at best, burger buns melted and couldnt hold up to the toppings of the burgers, but the meat was perfectly seasoned and heated! Area for improvement? UM YEAH! 1) get REAL buns 2) keep your gravy HOT 3) actually ask your guests if they're staying or going... and my favourite part of every review... the Bathroom! its a good bathroom, however something did seem to be a miss, theres a change table but NO garbage can.... so what are you supposed to do with the dirty diaper? carry it back to the dining room to toss it in the garbage? I am so glad that Boom Burger is in Halifax now! A trip to Boom burger was one of those things I had added to my list of things to do in PEI right up there with beaches and Cows ice cream! Often compared to the Five Guys chain in the states, Boom Burger has a casual feel, delicious burgers, and fresh cut fries made with local Atlantic Canadian ingredients like PEI potatoes, and cheese. This location has lots of space for indoor eating, and the staff were very friendly! It's a little more pricey than your typical fast food burger place, but the Little Boom and a regular fries were more than enough to fill me. And it is alot cheaper than the $45 bridge toll to travel to their Charlottetown location. read more

The burgers here are legitimately incredible. As someone whose travelled all over the United States and Canada, I can honestly say that this was the best burger I've had under $10. This place is relatively similar to 5 guys down in the states, as far as price and style go, but boom burger has ingredients that are leagues ahead. I've been here twice now and found it to be pretty good. The burgers are cooked to order and you choose whatever condiments and toppings you want when you order. The fries were nicely cooked, not overdone like I find a lot of independent places do for some reason, although the last time I was there there was something gritty in my fries. I couldn't see it but when I was chewing it was like the dirt hadn't been rinsed off the potatoes or something. Probably just a fluke and if I can't make it to Ace (the holy grail) this would be a decent substitute since it's much closer to my house. NB: There are no combos, you order everything a la carte. Definitely don't get the appeal. The burgers are fine...nothing better than say Wendy's. And it gets costly. Flip burger is definitely a better bang for your buck and had interesting premium toppings. Boomburger has the usual toppings. No real vegetarian options, no chicken, no greens. The burger meat is good, but the cheese is probably the best thing to look forward too. I have a soft spot for cows cheddar. So that in turn makes their poutine quite tasty. A big positive is you get TONS of fries. As ti His whole restauarnt does, it copies the US chain Five Guys in this faction as well. Went for burger-week with the family. Burgers are fried not charred and were just ok. The dill sauce was tasty. We were told by the cashier that the large fries were a med Coke cup full of fries plus a bunch of fries dumped in and serves 3-4. Well, no dump, and there were not enough fries for even our two kids. So we had to stop at McDonald's for a happy meal for my littlest. I've never had to go to McDonalds afterward a restaurant before! Crazy.. We Had never been before so it was worth dropping by, but not likely to return. Major disappointment. Trying to decided where to eat we started at Arby's and said naw let's try some of the new burger joints! Cheese curds was closed so we decided to try this place. Walking in I felt like I was at a cafeteria. Same colors as my all time favorite burger places flip burger.. weird. But nothing close to the burgers. My friend recommended we check out Boom Burger for dinner, he lived in the area and had nothing but good things to say. We went in and it wasn't too busy yet. Looking around, there were posters promoting the local use of ingredients, except they were all from Prince Edward Island, not Nova Scotia. PEI beef, mushrooms and Cows aged cheddar (which I am a huge fan of!) I ordered a bacon double cheese burger and fries. It was a bit of a wait, but I saw my order being bagged up, and it appears that the normal practice there is to fill your fry container, then add another pile of them into the bag. I got a small fries, and could not finish the order. The burger was tasty, great bun, good flavored beef, but to my disappointment, the cheddar didn't really work with the burger. It was a bit strong and overpowered the rest of the meal. Overall pretty good, not my favorite burger place, but it was still good. read more

I decided to take the family to Boom Burger. We went to the counter we ordered a large Poutine, double cheese burger, small fries, large fries and two small drinks. It came to a total of 32.00. We got our order number and sat down. I won't lie we where a little shocked at the price and it raised the bar a lot to what we expected. We sat there and complained about the price while waiting. They called our number and I went to get our order. When I took bite into the burger I was blown away it is hard to describe the taste. It was as if I had found burger euphoria. It was probably one of the best if not best burgers I have had since this gourmet burger thing had started. The poutine which my girl friend ordered was so big that it looked like daunting task to eat ( we where warned by the person that took our order how large it was). My girl friend noted that the gravy was tasty and the cheese curds where excellent. We also noticed that even as you ate the poutine there where cheese curds through out it. So many poutine's out there have lots of cheese curds on top but once you eat for a bit its then just fries and gravy. This one did not have that problem. Now the fries they filled up both containers and also left some "bag fries" at the bottom enough to be another serving. The restaurant it's self is very large to accommodate a large eat in crowd, there is music playing at just the right volume. I also love the huge bags of PEI potatoes when you walk in. I will be back for sure and will tell you that $32.00 is very cheap for what we got here. read more

Ok, let me take a second and compose myself. So many things to say, so many emotions stirred. This. Place. Is. Amaaaaazing. And I don't mean Michelin star amazing. I mean "if you love burgers, are craving a burger, need a burger, are willing to drive long distances for a burger, would chop off a limb for a burger, this will not let you down" amazing. I won't "break it down" in describing it, it's a burger. They have lots of the options you'd expect for a burger and a few more. It's fresh, flavourful, filling, and the buttered bun is the side of decadence that punctuates the whole package. Fresh cut locally sourced fries, friendly staff and a very very clean and efficient spot. This is now the place I will recommend to anyone looking for a burger. Oh Boom Burger. I see you; potato sacks stacked out front... menu layout reminiscent of a certain American burger chain... I won't hold it against you though. Boom does make a delicious burger. Tasty fries and decent poutine as well. My only gripe is there are no combos and the prices are kinda whack (again, reminiscent of aforementioned burger chain). I ordered the Firecracker Burger which was Boom Burgers featured burger for burger week 2016. After unwrapping the tin foil (terrible presentation btw) and making eye contact with this beast it looked like someone gave my burger a swift punch before it's final send off, closer inspection instantly revealed what I feared, a soggy bun crumbling barely edible mess. After realization sunk in, I couldn't believe that this was Boom Burgers offering for burger week, I decided to investigate what was the major malfunction of this burger, quickly became obvious that not only is tin foil a menace to our friend the burger, the same goes for dripping wet banana peppers, somehow Boom Burger thought it was a good idea. Hopefully they will get it together for Burger Week 2017. read more

The grocery store no-name brand is better than the severely over-priced burgers this establishment is selling. The only thing that's going on for this place is its location. The girl who took our order, looked like she was being held against her will. Even the McDonald's drive-thru staff has more enthusiasm than their staff. I'm not sure if those other reviewers went to the same restaurant I went to or what, but their reviews don't seem to be about the same establishment I visited tonight! I will admit going in with some reservations after seeing the reviews and knowing that the restaurant itself has only been open for a short time... All of those reservations melted away though after 10 seconds of walking in the door. I'm not sure where to start! The atmosphere (and air conditioning) were so refreshing when I walked in, and the aroma of burgers cooking was so appetizing. When I got up to the cash the girl there was very helpful and patient with my ordering (I am notorious when it comes to ordering food - I make up my mind and then change it half way through). I wasn't waiting long either after placing my order, the burger and fries were done close to perfection. The prices were higher than what you would pay at McDonalds or Burger King so I was a little shocked at first when I was told what my total would be. Honestly though for service and the quality and amount of food that you got - I would almost be willing to pay more. The cherry (or cherries) on top were the way orders are called "Boom-boom number ___" (so cute), and the warm and friendly greeting/farewell when you walk in/out the door. Needless to say I will absolutely be making many repeat visits. I don't remember seeing any veggie burger options on the menu though - something that I think they should definitely add to boost their clientele. Tried Boom Burger for the first time yesterday. I was expecting the same "gourmet" crap as Flip Burger. I don't dislike FlipBurger but I'm not a fanatic. The first thing I noticed about the menu at Boom Burger is how simple it is. No 25 choices, just pick single, double, cheese or bacon or none.Pick your condiments. Easy. It's the way I order at most places anyway. A good burger doesn't need all that other stuff to make it good. I ordered the double cheese burger and regular fries. It filled me up which isn't always easy. But it didn't just fill me up. It filled me with joy. I got the sauteed onion (they offer raw as well). The onions were perfect. The patties were moist and soft, not hard and dry like some other places. The fries were excellent! Fresh cut from real PEI potatoes. All in all I had a great experience and I guarantee that I'll be back. read more

Decided to stop by and check out Boom burger for the first time. After a workout I was hungry and since I was in the Larry uteck area Boom burger stood out. As I walked in I saw a few customers sitting. I noticed signs displaying local produce like Fresh PEI mushrooms and Cows cheddar. The place looked familiar to my favorite premium burger place Flip Burger. As I looked at the menu I noticed there was no specials so you need to buy your burger side and drink separately. I ordered a Boom Cheeseburger regular fries and a soft drink. It came to $16.53 after tax. The options for topics were very limited no premium toppings like flip burger, no green pepper, red peppers, haystack onion or special sauces... Just mayo lettuce, ketchup, mushrooms, pickles.. I was sad also no chicken option. I do not mean to compare but for the value it seems it was not worth the money as I was limited in options. I waited for my order and the service was ok, the girl was neutral but not overly welcoming or smiling a little too laid back for a fairly new business. My food arrived and It came in a bag which would not sit up on its own. The fries came in a cup and there was a side also extra in the bottom of the bag(lots of fries). The burger was wrapped in foil and was very greasy. As I unwrapped the burger it seemed very soft. The bun looked heated but it was so greasy that the bun was breaking apart at the bottom. While eating I had my hands touching the patty and cheese which traditionally I am not a fan of. Finalizing I was disappointed in the meal and how much I paid for it. It did not feel premium. I have been to burger places from In and out burger in Cali to local restaurant chains BP, east sides, etc. Thanks for reading , next time I am going back to my trusty flip burger where I have more options including a grilled chicken breast alternative for those some what health conscious. read more

We really enjoyed!! It's similar to Five Guys and worth spending a little extra. The burger isn't processed. It tastes freshly made and the fries are not frozen. Wish they had onion rings on the menu but not a deal-breaker. Sometimes you just need to sink your teeth into a juicy delicious burger...with grilled onions, mushrooms and Cows Creamery cheese. First visit here on a miserably wet Friday in June '17 and I was somewhat underwhelmed. The interior is fashionably minimalist, which probably looks good on some young designer's drawing board, but which is depressingly dreary, especially on a grey day with few customers. However, I was cheered up immediately by the delightful young lady at the order desk, who gave me a couple of useful tips and was cheerful and chatty throughout. Now, onto the tucker. I went for the double burger and medium fries. The latter were very good, certainly the best I've had in a burger joint in quite a while. Decent sized portion as well, which is where we encounter a wee problem. The fries are served in a paper cup, which holds a small portion OK, but overflows into the bag if you go regular. The cup is also a bugger if, like me, you want to give them the salt and vinegar treatment. Fries need to be in the shallowest, widest container you can lay hands on. So onto the burger. No complaint about the patties. Good sized and tasty, though nothing earth shattering. The snag was that the bottom half of the bun was too thin, the extras (fried onions, mushrooms and BBQ sauce) were under the patties and the bun was soggy and rapidly disintegrated. Even turning the whole thing upside down couldn't prevent the contents falling out. Bearing in mind there were only two people in the queue, this really shouldn't have happened.
