I hate people even mentioning 5 guys in the same sentence as this joint. They haven't even got a prayer to come even close to the magic of 5 guys. Yes they steal their style (which is soooo wrong) but the food doesn't even come close. The 5 guys in Toronto aren't as expensive and are completely magical and craveable. This place is the polar opposite... uncraveable and you want to forget about it. The buns are disgusting and the cheapest you can get from a grocery store. burgers are nothing special and condiments are condiments. I don't know what they are trying to do but it is ALL WRONG. I would rather eat at McDonalds across the street then ever spend another dime in that restaurant. Maybe I got them on a bad day but due to the over priced menu I would never attempt to give them a second chance. Burgers and fries here are great! I've had them twice. They are expensive but I think it is worth the price for fresh cooked good tasting burgers. And then I thought it would be a good idea to call in a pickup order to save time on my lunch break... I had one of their menus at work with me and decided to order the grilled cheese sandwich for something different. Tried calling there around noon several times but no answer. So I drove there anyway only to find out they were not even busy. Asked the employee if they took phone orders. He said yes and I mentioned that no one answered the phone. He just shrugged like it was not important. The grilled cheese "sandwich" is gross and not even a real sandwich with bread. They use a sesame seed bun and flip it inside out to grill the inside of the bun. The result is a very gross sesame seed sandwich with a little bit of cheese and a lot of greasy butter. Nasty. So much for looking forward to this for lunch. Rating three for the other menu items. If the employees here were friendly (they weren't on the three trips I have been here) then I'd gladly give them a higher rating. Maybe next time. read more

Good quality burger made with fresh beef. Lots of hand cut fries and soft drinks are refillable (just get the small soft drink). Some people have posted that it is a bit expensive but keep in mind you can add any of the listed items (including grilled onions, mushrooms, hot peppers, etc). With so many gourmet burger options out there, Boom Burger stands apart for its simplicity. Burgers are just burgers minus all the fancy stuff other burger joints put on them. Boom Burger focuses on quality burgers and fries which for the casual visitor makes things far less complicated. I didn't have to worry about whether I made the right choice. I tried this restaurant out of curiousity. I like a good burger. Yes, it is about 40% more pricey than international fast food burger chains (burger, small fries and a drink cost $14). However, the food is not mass-produced and I guess they need to make a profit. The restaurant is much larger than I expected and probably too large for the area. The inside is spartan. Music is piped in at an appropriate volume. The staff is extremely friendly. The best part of the meal was definitely the beef burgers. They actually taste like beef. The patties are small at 3 1/2 ounces but the double burger hits the spot. I made the mistake of ordering "the works". There was so much stuff on the burger that the bun fell apart with the first bite. Next time no mushrooms, and raw onion instead of fried. The fries were good. I agree with another reviewer that they need a minute or two longer in the fryer, or maybe they should be twice-fried. Just a little more crispness is all they need, but otherwise they are quite tasty with a generous portion. The pop is the usual watered down stuff from a dispenser. If I were to make a suggestion, it would be to give the option of ordering better quality drinks. Maybe real coke or root beer in an old-fashioned glass bottle. It would enhance the 1950's burger joint experience. I give it a thumbs-up. It's also nice to see a local business succeed. read more

Just had my first experience with Boom Burger... Had never heard of it before, we honestly went there because we liked the name.. After reading the reviews I was prepared to pay a little bit more but receive a better quality hamburger... And they were right.. It cost me just over 23 dollars for two single burgers, a small fry, a large fry and a small Pepsi... But it was absolutely delicious!!! The fries were actually cooked!!!! Fresh PEI potatoes with the skin left on and real hamburger fried in front of you, not microwaved!! You wait a little bit longer than you do at other places but you actually get what you order and it taste amazing... I will definitely be back and I would definitely recommend it!!! read more

They have the most delicious burgers and PEI fries. The nice thing is that you can add toppings from a selection of 15 different toppings, which makes for the perfect burger. French Fries are literally "dumped" in your bag getting plenty to fill you up. Worth the drive! read more

Had great experiences with BOOMBURGER in PEI - but here found a dirty tables (yet three staff lazing around - no 'time to lean - time to clean' mantra here! A wet soggy bun, all fries about an inch long - and when I asked for a new burger to replace the obviously steamed / stale bun I got attitude from the staff. I again agree that it is a five guys clone, but I like five guys so it works for me. It's a little on the pricey side but everything is freshly made so better to compare its pricing to gourmet burger joints like cheese curds and not to fast food joints like McDonalds or Wendy's. The menu is limited to burgers, hot dogs, or poutine, if you are a vegetarian there is nothing here you can eat. They have a nice amount of topping options but could use more. When we went the service was great even though our cashier lacked the sense of humor I like about five guys. Of course the cloning process hasn't been perfected yet so some things not being quite right should be expected :). The portions are filling, my father in law who is a big eater got a burger and a side poutine and felt he could have ordered less. I've visited Boomburgers 6 or 8 times and always enjoy it. The burger is solid, lots of options for fresh topping. Fries are above average and they give you a ton of them. The soft drink include free refills. It's pricier than McDonalds but also much better quality and taste. read more

I love Boom Burger! Their poutine is so good and the burgers are absolutely delicious. Burgers are much better and juicier than flip burgers though I usually get poutine when im at boom burger. I'm very picky when it comes to my poutine and this gets a gold star in my book. It's not as good as Quebec poutine but with the cheese, pei fries and thick gravy its a close second. A bit pricier than many fast food places but defiantly worth it. Something about the food makes it taste like its made with love. read more

The burgers are ok - the lettuce bun is a great idea for those of us looking to make our burgers a little healthier. However, they're nothing special and they're pretty expensive for what you get.
