Our first visit to the Bedford location, we had been to the Halifax location once before. The menu is HUGE ! As someone who is awful making decisions, it was slightly overwhelming.... but I recommend looking at the menu online before visiting. This time I had the pesto, Arugula and goat cheese. It was so fresh.... everything tasted homemade , it was the best pizza I may have ever had. It was cooked perfectly. My partner had the fries and mozza sticks, the fries were so tasty and also cooked perfectly. The mozza sticks batter was similar to fish batter, not too heavy, crisp and merry. The service was 5 star, friendly and helpful. The seating area was cute and cozy, booths and a fireplace. I would highly recommend anyone who loves pizza, but doesn't want the run of the mill options... they advertise over 50 pizzas.... They also have so much more than just pizza. Try it ! Being born and raised in Pictou County means one of two things: you're an acolyte of its glorious pizza, or you have $#*! taste in pizza. As I'm one of the former, I lament the lack of easy access to Pictou County pizza as I, like 75% or more of my peers, don't live there anymore. However, the pizza slinging entrepreneurs at Nayya have heeded my years of silent prayers and drunken rants and have brought a Pictou County-style pizza to their menu. While I had heard good things from friends and reading reviews online, you're never quite sure until you try something for yourself, especially when it comes to something as subjective as taste. So after much too long, I used a movie night in Bedford at my friends' house as an opportunity to push for giving it a try. While I had assumed that they would have a set PCP pizza on the menu modeled after the combination pizzas at home (pepperoni, mushroom and green pepper), it seems that you can put whatever you want on your PC-style pizza at Nayya. They have a deal where you can get two medium PCPs for $32, so we went for that, getting one as a traditional combo and the other as a meatier one. My buddy picked them up on the way in, so I can't attest to their customer service or how delivery would be. Upon opening the box, things looked encouraging - a thick, browned layer of cheese on top of everything, with spice-flecked brown pizza sauce peeking out from underneath. The crust was dense, and a little dried out, but true to form for Pictou County (for better or for worse), the crust is more utilitarian than a focus itself. With the hefty amount of toppings, a thin crust would never do, but being dried out is never a good thing. The toppings were spot on though, and I was glad to see that they used Brother's pepperoni despite my buddy forgetting to specify that kind, so kudos to Nayya for either knowing to use it or having it as their default pepperoni. That thick layer of cheese was just as good as you would expect, and the mushrooms and green peppers completed the flavour profile. As for the star of the show for any Pictou County pizza - the spicy, brown sauce - it obviously had a lot of taste testing put into it, or they stole the recipe, because I'd call it an almost perfect replica. Blind taste tests with it against the stuff from home would definitely be tough to tell apart. Bow before this sauce and cower, sweet red sauces of Halifax! While I say Sam's or Acropole need to get it together and get a location on the peninsula near the hoards of Pictou County kids going to school and expats living there, Nayya more than fills the gap for non-gourmet pizza that you can enjoy at any occasion. read more

So if not for the owner of this place I would be writing a much different review. I ordered a pizza and wings from this place, someone told me it was good. When the delivery guy (great guy) showed up my card wouldn't work in his machine. He called the owner who told him to just take it back. I couldn't believe this was the go to option so I asked to speak with him. After convincing him that I was not some hoodlum bent on getting a free meal, he trusted me and left the food. I ate the food which was amazing! The next day I showed up with the money and placed a second order. The pizza here is absolutely amazing, being a vegetarian they have so many options. I ordered the La Romana, which was so delicious (even the next day when I ate it cold). My husband ordered the thin crust donair pizza, which he said was so good. All the topping are fresh and good quality ingredients, which puts every other pizza I have had to shame. Ok. This is my first time here. Also first time trying a Pictou County style pizza. It was simply the best pizza I've eaten! It was a medium with some weight as I carried it to my car. I got home and opened it...wow the cheese and good quality cheese you can tell just by looking at it. Looks did not deceive! I got the ham, smoked bacon and mild pepperoni. I would have love veggies but my other half not so much. So delicious I ate 2 slices and wanted another so badly but managed to contain myself. There are always leftovers the next day :) this is now my go to pizza place. And I don't even live in Bedford I'm in Lwr. Sackville. Three words: Pictou County Pizza. Thats right. I'm one half excited to try this, and the other half of me is excited I never have to go back to Pictou County again to get it. And I'd say Nayya comes pretty darn close, its not Andres, or Acropole, but its 85% there. The sauce I'd say is bang on, its spicy and delicious and reminds me of Sam's in Trenton. They also do not skimp on the toppings at all, they're heavy on the brothers pepperoni which obviously is a crucial part of the PCP. The only part that I feel needs improvement is the crust. The crust here is too fancy. The PCP crust is very simple and only has like flour, yeast and water in it (had a friend that worked for one of the major PCP places who informed me of this), so its quite dense. This stuff is very fluffy. They also shape the crust differently than they do in PCP which isn't a huge deal, but when they make the PCP the crust almost sticks upwards if that makes sense, think of a very shallow swimming pool filled with cheesy goodness. Is my craving for PCP satisfied? Yes. Do I recommend this place? F**k yes. Give it a try!! read more

Nayya has taken over the spot formerly held by Tarek's on the Bedford Hwy. Although I am a falafel fanatic and was sad to see Tarek's go, I happily discovered that Nayya makes a fine replacement. As I live very close to this location and enjoyed the falafel convenience, imagine my delight to find that I can indeed still walk to get a falafel, and Nayya's falafel is, dare I say it, maybe even better than Tarek's. They make very good pita wraps (falafel, souvlaki, kafta, shawarma ) as well as some pretty tasty toasted subs (the steak sub is amazing). Although I haven't tried their burgers yet, they have an extensive list of gourmet toppings available (blue cheese! Maple bacon! Arugula!) and I plan on eating one. This all leads me to the real star of their menu, their PIZZA!!! The pizza is amazing. I consider myself a bit of a pizza aficionado, being as I eat it far too often. I can only comment on their traditional crust (you also have the option of thin crust but I prefer a doughier crust on my pizza pies), which is delicious and homemade. They make all of their sauces in house - their standard tomato sauce ("Neapolitan" sauce) is very tasty for being regular pizza sauce and you can tell it's homemade -lots of nice herbs and spices. My favourite is the "bianco" sauce, a yummy garlic-y white sauce. I have tried three varieties of their pizza so far - the Bianco Bacon Spinach pizza (to die for! But only if you LOVE garlic. It would ward off vampires for sure), the Bianco Chicken Pie pizza (Romano cheese! Sautéed mushrooms! Delicious and loaded with garlic deliciousness, but less so than the spinach pie), and the Neopolitana (anchovies! Fresh parm! Cracked black pepper! Fresh tomato slices! Probably the best one I tried, and had always wanted to try anchovies - they were very good and nothing to be afraid of! Salty goodness). The service has always been excellent when I've been. The owner and his wife seem to usually be the ones working and they are both very friendly and nice. Also, food is always ready super quick. I've heard much ado about "Pictou County pizza" and saw Nayya's sign proclaiming they had it. They were closed at the time but being obsessive about food I made an excuse to be in the area around lunch the next day. The place was locked, cold, dark at lunchtime... un, oh. Just as I was getting ready to leave with unfed grouchy belly, a car sped into parking place in front of the store. A guy got out of car ran to door and frantically opened. I followed him in. He was the owner and explained the nasty weather earlier that morning meant he'd been delayd getting his deliveries for the day and had to pick up his supplies, He apologized and asked me to give him 10 minutes to produce a slice of Pictou County Pizza. He got right to work. While the pie was in the oven he chatted about the brown sauce and how long it takes to make it. He was pretty personable and that made up for coming to closed restaurant. True to his word, in 10 minutes he presented a gooey, meltly slice. They make their PCP with double cheese and Brother's pepperoni. The huge slice was $5.99 before tax and came with a can of pop. Now being really hungry, I introduced slice to mouth. It was excellent. The accurately names "brown sauce" is earthy and delicious; quite novel from the usually tomato-based sauce.The Brother's pepperoni was piled on thick. It's been a while since I had brothers on a pizza. I think I'll have to frequent more places that have it. One of the better slices I've had. Thanks for the introduction Nayya. This is a very excellent establishment. The service is good, and food is very cheap. Once they asked me my favourite kind of pizza and said that they would have it ready for me the next lunch (this was very appreciated). I am so impressed by Nayya Restaurant here in Bedford / Halifax. Located on Larry Uteck Blvd, a great location with adequate parking. Pizzas are prepared with very fresh ingredients and just the right amount of herbs. The crust is consistently perfect (I always order thin crust). Very affordable and the staff is very friendly. And to top it off, we ordered their Pictou Co Style pizza, only to realize upon pickup that it cost double what other take out pizza in the area costs.
