The Knot allowed us to track guest RSPVs and also helped with budgeting. Our website was also extremely useful when we got a little behind with invitations, we sent people a quick message letting them know that our invites were delayed but that our website was up and running for details, RSVPs, travel information and our registry. One of the other features that we really loved about having our registry through The Knot was that they also made a donation to Lambda Legal, the 501(c)(3) of our choice, when people contributed to our cash funds. It was an easy way to give back to a cause we deeply support (and made a statement about with our capes). We also ordered our cocktail napkins from their website and they have so much more to offer. I am a small business owner based in Utah. I am submitting this review as a way to report what I believe to be deceptive and misleading sales and business practices by The Knot Worldwide, Inc. through its WeddingPro advertising platform. TL;DR: DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY, unless of course you'd like to throw away your money for what appears to be a giant scam. In May 2025, I entered into a paid advertising contract with WeddingPro after a sales call with their representative. The decision to proceed was based on specific verbal representations regarding expected lead volume, ease of achieving ROI, and the quality of customer support. After signing the contract, those representations did not align with reality, and my experience has matched a pattern widely reported by other small wedding vendors nationwide. Specific Issues: 1. Misleading Sales Representations. During the sales call, the WeddingPro sales representative made statements suggesting that my business could reasonably expect multiple bookings per week due to high lead volume in my geographic market and that achieving meaningful ROI through WeddingPro would be "easy" or "a piece of cake." These statements materially influenced my decision to enter the contract. In practice, the volume and quality of leads did not match what was represented. Most leads appeared non-genuine, unresponsive, or unusable. No measurable ROI was achieved despite continued payments of $400 per month. After I raised concerns, WeddingPro later characterized these sales statements as "averages" or "goals," despite the fact that they were presented in a way that a reasonable small business owner would interpret as likely or expected outcomes. 2. Refusal to Provide Sales Call Recording. WeddingPro records sales calls but has refused to provide me with a copy or transcript of my own sales call, citing "security reasons." Instead, the company provided only its own internal summary stating that no guarantees were made. This creates a significant imbalance, because the company controls the only objective evidence of what was said, and I was asked to rely solely on the company's interpretation (which was false). There is no transparency or accountability for verbal sales claims. 3. Post-Sale Abandonment and Lack of Support. After signing the contract, when I wanted to express my desire to cancel the agreement, my account manager became largely unreachable. A new account manager was assigned to me sometime later. Requests for assistance with my cancellation went unanswered and unresolved. No meaningful support was provided to improve results or address lead quality. Support that was given was effectively just "if you're not getting leads, it's not our fault." 4. Locked-In Contracts That Trap Small Businesses. WeddingPro enforces a mandatory 12-month contract that is extremely difficult to exit, even when services do not perform as represented. Despite documented dissatisfaction and lack of results: - Early termination was not permitted without full payment - Small businesses are forced to continue paying for ineffective services - Many vendors cannot afford legal action or arbitration to challenge this This structure disproportionately harms small businesses that operate on limited margins and rely heavily on good-faith representations during sales calls. After experiencing these issues, I discovered extensive public complaints from other wedding vendors describing the same pattern (high-pressure sales calls, promises of strong ROI and lead volume, poor-quality or fake leads, refusal to release call recordings, and rigid contracts that are nearly impossible to exit). As a vendor, I expressed to several departments how I cannot afford to maintain my storefront, and that I was struggling to feed my family and keep gas in my car. Our floral business advertised on Wedding Pro (both The Knot and WeddingWire) for around $550/mo. We were locked into a one-year contract. We received far fewer leads than expected and promised by the sales rep. We did get some, though, and we did book some weddings through the site. That said, once we added a robust wedding section with photos to our website, we are booking more weddings that way - at no additional cost to us. I simply don't see the value in listing on Wedding Pro's sites. Overall, the profits we make from the referrals had us break even or be at a loss from what we paid to them over one year. When I did cancel, it was rather difficult to do so. I emailed with our rep, who tried to talk us into renewing. When I made it clear that we would not, I asked her for confirmation that our cancellation was being processed, and she would not respond to me. Maybe she was upset. Warning to all. It has been (6) months since my wife's and I's wedding, and we have been dealing with reviews left on The Knot trying to be edited by this venue to hide the many issues we had at this venue back in May. First off, the venue was less than transparent in the contractual terms on the contracts. There are many things that they did not make us fully aware of before taking a 50% deposit such as the fact that they literally do nothing as far as set up and take down at the venue and all of the little extra fees for every little item that you would need as part of your event (to help you out though, it is still just cheaper to buy everything on Amazon and resell on any online marketplace rather than rent from this venue). Then we got to the day of the wedding. First off, the day of the wedding, the water was completely out. My groomsmen and I couldn't take a shower until the water was turned back on (1 hour before the event started). Needless to say, everyone was freaking out. We were literally joking about having to potentially take a bath in the hot tub which was literally the only thing in the men's clubhouse that actually had water. Not the sinks, not the showers, nothing. On top of that, numerous facilities of the men's club were broken anyway and couldn't be used as we were told would be available the morning of the wedding. It was an outdoor venue and it had rained the night before, but with grass being in the outdoor section, everything should have been fine, except for the fact that half of the aisle way where the bride and bridesmaids were going to half to walk through in their dresses was completely covered in mud. Why? Because they failed to maintain and reseed rather large divets right in the middle of the aisle way. When I asked if there was anything they could do, they simply said that they weren't responsible for that. I literally had to run to Menard's to find large cuts of AstroTurf to cover these spots. Fortunately, of all of the places in this review, Menard's is awesome and they have 8x8 cuts of turf for $20 each. It completely saved the day. The grass was so dead, that I needed (6) cuts to completely cover it. So you don't have to do the math, that is 48-feet of turf that had to be used to ensure a bride did not get her dress muddy, no one twisted or broke an ankle, and that we actually left for the venue to reuse so as no one else had to deal with this. Chances are they threw it away, but we tried at least. Why am I telling you all this? Well, we used a website that most couples getting married are familiar with, The Knot. They are now trying to remove and hide our review and experiences at this facility. They even tried to claim that we didn't actually have an event here and didn't have a contract. After having to provide them with a copy of our complete contract back in November, they began trying to claim that our experience was not real and that our review did not meet their "Review Policy Requirements." I don't know why a company that wants to help those getting married would be so interested in hiding the experiences and reviews of those who already did and experienced all of this. Is it because it is actually just about the money to them? Is it because they rely on the venue being on their platform more than the people they serve? I'm sure there are numerous people asking themselves these questions based on the 1.3 star average they have as of writing this review. My general advice if I had any to offer would simply be to stay away. Does it make some things easier? Maybe slightly, but if you know anything about Microsoft Excel, you can literally do all of this on your own. All told, Amazon was more helpful in this whole process but I guarantee no one there knew we were getting married. Misleading company hides the truth in small print. A friend purchased the Royal Caribbean "Gift Card" for us. However, it is truly just a coupon for a full priced cruise. No cash value with Royal at all. Royal does not even refer to it as a gift card as The Knot does. Royal calls it a certificate. A gift card is like cash within a company and can be used like cash. A certificate or coupon often have many stipulations. For The Knot to call this a gift card then hide then change it in the small print to certificate is like a bait and switch move. The Knot would have otherwise earned 4 stars. However, deception eliminated their credibility all together. They had no interest in making things right even with the deceptive tactic they pulled on us. I now have a worthless $200 certificate because I book my cruises discounted with Club Royale. The certificate cannot be used for discounted cruises, beverage, packages, dinner, packages, excursions, retail products on board or on their websites. When I finally spoke with a new representative--after dealing with several others--I was told I could not legally cancel the contract, despite the company failing to deliver on its obligations. Very disappointed in the Knot service. I had a relative have to cancel their hotel room through the Knot website due to illness in family more than 30 days out from the wedding. She had to forfeit 1 night's rate ($300!!!) Now full disclosure it does quote this in the terms and conditions on the website when you reserve your rooms but in this day and age, the "Zero cancellation" mentality is just obsolete. I get cancelling at the last minute or even a week out, but 5 weeks away? And then trying to appeal the charge- Hilton referred me back to the Knot who referred me to Hotel Planner as that is the service they are using. So frustrating! I would look for other sites that do weddings. I saw a lot of good reviews for "With Joy." Check them out first. I wrote an honest review about my experience and because it would tarnish the vendor's (Wes Shinn Photography) 5 star rating, he quickly and easily hid my review from the public. I contacted The Knot support wondering why my review was removed but never heard back. I no longer know which vendors to trust on these apps as it looks so easy for them to make any review with any amount of negativity disappear. The only leads you get are people trying to get your financial info. This company tries to charge you for giving your contact info to scammers. The Knot allows vendors to take down negative reviews. Then the person must show proof of payment. I had a beauty vendor (Beauty by Yari) require me to pay for all 18 services for 8 people (of which they skipped one service and made me pay extra to add a service). The Knot won't allow any one else in my party to leave a review because I paid and will not allow me to include anything in my review about any one else's experiences. The vendor was allowed to dispute my review which is fine I had to show proof of my accusations which I did. After that the vendor was allowed to respond with no proof of their accusations and was allowed to name call and be disrespectful in their response. Great resource for their planning checklist and website builder, HOWEVER, I would NEVER recommend using knot to order your Save the Dates, Invitations, etc. Right before you press "Submit my order", there is a "have a designer contact me" box and if you do not check this box, they claim to not touch your design and print it as is. This stupid little checkbox is fake news - they moved my text without approval. Fast forward - I got contacted by a designer, we went back and fourth, they claimed that I was the confused one (rude) and that what they have is "practically identical" to what I was asking for (rude and also untrue). I asked to pause my contract and they refused even though they are aware that many couples are unable to book events. They basically received a free $3600 from me for them to put my name on their website during a pandemic. There is an "end-of-business" option to opt-out but they require you to take down your entire online presence. I had to have them reprint my design 3 times and they still could not get it right. What you receive on the sample may not be what you receive in the full order in terms of color and print quality. I am having to hire an attorney to recoup funds for a hotel not used through the kNot. Initially setting up these reservations, through a hotel block, was very easy. I was able to speak to someone quickly and the first transaction was simple. Some plans changed and I made arrangements with these people way ahead of time and was assured that I would be reimbursed, but no. It has been weeks and I cannot get anyone stateside or a manager on the phone, ever, to resolve this. Absolutely will Not be using the kNot again or for any future arrangements. The Knot suppresses consumers' negative reviews of vendors. This is completely aligned with their business model: they make their money off people who are getting married using their website and working with vendors found on their website. Having tried using The Knot as an input to our own wedding planning, we would definitely NOT trust The Knot's vendor ratings and reviews, nor recommend them. We wrote a factual review on the Knot, focusing on a wedding vendor's predatory contact terms, which led us to not sign with them. We are so glad we didn't, because then COVID hit and our wedding got cancelled - and according to their contract, there's no way we would have gotten our deposit back! The Knot contacted us several times in the weeks after we posted the review, saying the vendor had disputed various portions of it and forcing us to change them (with the threat of otherwise removing our review). It seemed like fairly minor changes to verbiage - it seemed like the vendor was trying everything they could to get the negative review taken down, and The Knot was enabling the vendor to do this, giving us short timelines of a few days to make changes each time. We also provided The Knot with extremely thorough documentation of our interactions with the company. The Knot finally accepted our review back in early March, and then, months later, they sent us an e-mail disputing new parts of it (some really minor changes that seemed a bit silly, one substantive one which was not an accurate change) and saying they would take down the review if we didn't update it in one day. We find it unbelievable that The Knot will give companies unlimited time to dispute reviews, but only give consumers ONE DAY to make any requested modifications. We don't even check our wedding e-mail inbox that frequently! The Knot took down our review. Overall, it was a pretty crazy process of them disputing our review multiple times over the span of several months. Basically, it seemed like they were trying to prevent us from writing a negative review of a vendor. When we posted the same review on other ratings sites, we did not have similar experiences. When we filed a complaint about this with the Better Business Bureau, they tried reaching The Knot 4 times over several months and never got a response. I cannot say how much I find The Knot website to be excruciatingly painful. So many website functionalities are slow, buggy, and non-intuitive. No way to send messages easily to guests invited to some events but not all. (Example: Email Message Only to Rehearsal Dinner guests, or email only to those who have RSVP'd yes/no to a specific event.) Constant bugs with trying to update other components, sorting or contact management, etc. Lack of customizable options or ability to order registry items in a defined way. Mobile website support is also poor. I wish I would have known this all sooner. I would recommend trying other platforms instead. read more

As a former vendor with the knot I can not recommend to anyone else in the wedding service industry to sign up for a listing with the Knot. I was conned into investing in a listing and the return on my investment was horrible. I am locked into a contract and continue to pay a monthly fee. I have learned my lesson and want to dissuade others from making the same mistake I made. I received in total for my monthly investment only one lead. I tried to cancel and was told that I was bound by the contract. Funny how they were happy to make promises about supporting my business and partnering with me at the time they approached me. Used this service for wedding website before doing much research to other resources haha. Honestly this is probably the most popular website among my group of friends/family. It's very easy to set up and great that you can set privacy only on the website. Your registry will still be searchable. The reminder / "What to do this week" e-mails are a bit aggressive and stressful. It's convenient that you can have guests RSVP right on the website but make sure you proof the spelling of names and direct guests to spell it exactly as on the invite or else they won't be able to find it or can add themselves/+1s. I would not use this as your ONLY resource for vendor reviews and contacting them. Some of the vendors were very aggressive if part of a photo group they would send these promotions to your e-mail all the time. Others never responded. Plus the reviews are mostly VERY skewed to the positive. C'mon not every wedding or details could have gone flawlessly for the premium you're paying. You cannot - I replete CANNOT trust the review on The Knot website. I recently reviewed my wedding photographer on their site. Shortly thereafter my review was disputed by the photographer and the review was taken down. It took about three weeks to get it back up after an extremely vigorous verification process. While I appreciate that they want review to be authentic, what I've learned from this experience is that you cannot trust the ratio of good to negative review on their site considering how easy it was for my "negative" review to be taken down and how difficult it was to get it put back up. I imagine whenever a vendor doesn't like a review (say, anything under 4 stars) they likely dispute it and cross their fingers that the reviewer is too lazy to go though the never ending process to ensure the reviews authenticity. read more

I emailed, was told how to fix it, illustration doesn't even look like the page where I should be able to fix. Why would they keep making changes??? If a page has already been established, give owners the option to keep the page as is or accept the change. Most of all, good luck accessing your website, there's always an error message. They remove all negative reviews and claim only clients whose names are on the contract can review a vendor. So, as the mother of the groom, my review was removed.
