Overall a very solid experience at a very reasonable price. Me and my friend went there for the fish fry on Friday. The main meal was quite solid, you're typical Milwaukee fish fry. The steak potato fries were quite good, and the fish itself was pretty spot on. Then again, its not hard to screw up a fish fry. But the salad on the side was right on the money, overall definitely worth the modest price of $13. However, I was severely disappointed with our shrimp appetizer. Which costs $12. The appetizer itself was THREE pieces of shrimp with some seasoning. While the shrimp was quite good, it wasn't $4 a piece good. A big ripoff, and I learned again never to order something from the "special of the day" menu. Overall would come again though, minus the appetizer. Service was friendly and efficient. read more

Went to Milwaukee this weekend to visit a friend and has a blast. Best part of the weekend was the Bloody Mary for sure. We came to the Knick for brunch on Saturday ready to get our eat and drink on. First of all, I love the way they do Bloody Marys. The Queen Mary was a huge glass that came with a piece of blackened shrimp, a block of cheese, pepperoni, peppers and a pickle. Say what!?!? Yea you read that correct. As soon as I ate my shrimp I knew it was going to be a good Saturday. For my meal, I ordered the steak and eggs. The steak was cooked just as I ordered it and the eggs were perfect. The rest of the table got the crab cake hash which was delicious. A great brunch spot for those people that enjoy a mimosa or ten before church. The only draw back is that children are allowed. While I enjoy that fact that families can dine out and have a great time, I do not appreciate a kid throwing there half eaten food. Luckily, Grace our server made sure that my drink was never empty which in turn made my child tolerance go up. Great food and wonderful drinks! This restaurant is one of my Milwaukee favorites. I keep coming back to this spot. Great food, atmosphere, drinks and people. I would like to tell you my favorite things to eat here but I don't think I have enough space. You can go here order anything on the menu and I promise you'll love it. I enjoy the prompt service and late night kitchen hours. The bartenders Chris and Eric will whip you up some unique/delicious cocktails. They are constantly coming up with new drinks to try. I've enjoyed brunch at The Knick for a number of years and recently visited for lunch during Downtown Dining Week. We hadn't thought to make a reservation, so we put our name on the list and waited, before instead opting to eat at the bar. The bartender was super friendly and welcoming. When one person in our party disclosed a nut allergy that conflicted with the Downtown Dining menu dessert options, she went above and beyond our expectations by verifying ingredients with other staff members and instead offering a completely different dessert just to be safe from allergen cross-contamination. A couple of people tried the hummus plate, which was received well. For entrees, we had pulled pork sandwiches and the chicken pita. The pork was great, and the pita was so stuffed full of goodness, it could've just been a massive salad. Great food, great value, great service. read more

This was an easy review to write. I had the three blackened fish tacos with waffle fries. The seasoning on the fish was good but the avocado slices were big. The lettuce and other toppings were fine but the corn tortillas were very tough and unenjoyable to eat since I have braces. The service wasn't unbearable but it was too slow for it not being busy. She left a little to be desired in the personality department and didn't seem to really know much about the product. I had the crab hash. It was mediocre. Came here with my significant other on a busy day at the Knick. The staff here is very friendly and attentive even though it was such a busy Sunday afternoon. Was expecting to get in at lunch time to get the lunch menu but apparently lunch doesn't start until 3pm! Seems pretty late to start lunch. But we stuck around to try the brunch menu instead. I got the breakfast quesadilla and the plates are huge and the portions are huge! The value of food that you get for the amount you pay is great. Just half of the portion you receive could be enough to fill you up. The time it took to get the food out after ordering was super fast too considering the place was almost full! I have been eating here regularly for the last 8 years...it is usually absolutely delicious food. However, tonight I just had the worst meal I've had in 15 years or so. I'm not sure if they've changed their chef recently or not. What in the world happened? I ordered the same meal I've had for years - the pan seared salmon. What I got was something that tasted like burned toast but was raw on the inside. How does that even happen? How can you destroy a piece of expensive fish like that? This could be a regular go to spot ! The decor is tastefully colorful and modern . The lights are dimmed down setting a terrific ambiance from the start . The staff was all super friendly. It was the best service I can remember having in a long time . I started with a chestnut old fashioned . You can tell they take time to make it and I could taste the real sugar ! I shared two appetizer with my friend . We got the calamari and the wings . If your a fan of ginger , I suggest the calamari . It's served with a sweet and sour chili sauce which is surprisingly good ( it was my first time served with that and I am a instant fan ). Their wings are AMAZING! They grill them , which is a nice alternative to the ever so often deep fried version . Even though grilled they are still juicy on the inside . I like their menu because they offer simple foods with moderate prices and more fancy entrees that are a little bit more expensive . The Knick is a nice ritzy little place right on the outskirts of downtown Milwaukee. My girlfriend and I had the pear salad and I had the Chipotle Pork Tenderloin for an entree. I love the Knick for lunch in the middle of a business day with my co-workers. The exterior and interior are of very classy decor. The interior is fun but sophisticated. I had the scallops this time which were delicious but it didn't come with much of a side so I wish I had ordered a salad to start. We did share a couple apps for the table. This is my all time favorite restaurant. I absolutely adore everything about the place. Everything on the menu looks spectacular, but I've never managed to get past their blackened tilapia with spicy vegetable succotash. My husband, however, has tried virtually everything. We went here on a Saturday night for a birthday dinner. We wanted a good mix of casual and "nice", and I have to say the Knick nails it pretty well. No one looked at my sister-in-law sideways when she walked in with a hoodie, but the food was definitely a step above sports bar. I hadn't been to The Knick in awhile and had brunch there today with friends. Food and Bloodies were wonderful. The staff on the other hand has a lot of "tude." As we were walking back to our cars, we all joked that our waiter obviously hates his job and the rest of the staff seemed indifferent. I couldn't remember where the restrooms were and I was struggling and not one of the staff even looked up to notice. The only drawback is probably the menu which is very standard and doesn't have a selection enormous enough to make up. We had a great anniversary dinner at the Knick on Friday night. From the minute we walked in the door the entire staff was gracious and warm. The homemade tater tots were great, I had the risotto and it was cheesy, creamy and YUM. Hubby had steak frites- said it was good but nothing special. We had pumpkin cheesecake for dessert and it was really good too. Reasonably priced. Great atmosphere and great service. We'll be back! read more
