Lunch at The Kitchen at Misconduct Winery included truffle mac & cheese, sardine, and potatoes.
    Bronwyn G.

I really enjoyed a light lunch here on a recent Penticton/Naramata wine-tasting vacation. The Kitchen at Misconduct is at the far South end of the Penticton/Naramata wine route. Perhaps only Perseus and Upper Bench wineries are further south. I ordered the potato dish, the cauliflower, the sardine, and the truffle mac & cheese. The stand-out was the truffle mac & cheese for sure ("Wild mushroom and truffle oil "Mac & Squeaky cheese", $12). Simple but flavourful! It also really set me up with a full belly for a day of wine tasting. The cauliflower was a bit disappointing for those who are familiar already with what you can do with this versatile veg (Roasted cauliflower dusted with parmesan, $6). The potatoes were simple, but perfectly done (Patatas bravas, $5). The sardine was deceptively simple (Grilled sardine, squeeze lemon and rock salt, $5). It looked basic, but was a delightful bite of protein to accompany our starch and veg orders. Highly recommended! A note on the setting - the seating area is outdoors on a covered and heated deck. It overlooks Misconduct Winery's crush pad. If you happen to visit during early October, you'll have a view of the winery in full swing crushing grapes for next year's wines.

You walk in and it's always bumping and bartender is always making funky and cool drinks and everyone's always having a great time. Lots of conversation between friends or even between strangers at the bar. Service was always great. The best dish is the brussel sprouts - it always has something funky in it - marshmellows or grapes and then cheese. It was so enjoyable and they truly believed in their culinary art. I've always appreciated their evolution of their dishes and it was never boring to come back again and again. I truly hope the owners are able to create another restaurant as creative as this one and make it last. I really truly enjoyed this!

We booked a Happy Hour reservation for the long Sunday Easter long weekend at 4:30pm and we were the first to arrive. As Salt & Brick has an evolving fresh sheet menu, you never know what's on the menu but they usually have a few staples like their Brussel sprouts. As this was my boyfriend's first time here, we ordered the Brussell sprouts with popcorn and the Rigatoni. We were given the regular menu but did inquire about Happy Hour and the Brussel sprouts, pastas, and charcuterie board were on special. Unfortunately, they didn't have any oysters available that day. Small cozy atmosphere with a cute front porch. It's a small bar and kitchen that you can see and wonderful that you see and hear all the food being freshly made to order. Our server was friendly, chatty, and attentive but also gave us our space too. The Brussel sprouts served with cheddar popcorn, grapes, and ripped beer cheese is a bit salty, sweet, and so satisfying! My partner doesn't love Brussel sprouts but really enjoyed this dish. The Rigatoni was a bit rich with a nettle became sauce but served with the earthy lily spears, it was a well rounded dish altogether that we also enjoyed. Cute restaurant on the Downtown main strip that isn't a major chain, which is refreshing. Will continue to visit next time in town and hopefully they will have oysters then!

No kind hosting convo, which at 5:30 pm shouldn't be too difficult. She handed us a children's colouring sheet menu for our little one but when we realized she wasn't going to bring us crayons we got up to ask for some to be told they've been breaking them In half so they are out. When we ordered a couple of the 'famous fish and chips' it was so disappointing, no seasoning, just a bland fish with a crispy coating. how in the world is this order so popular!? I had to ask for malt vinegar to get some sort of flavour besides the lemon I squeezed on it. We also had ordered the pizza for the table to share and it was so overly chewy and hard with again, no seasoning that the 4 year old couldn't eat it and that was a huge sign that the dinner was an epic failure. It was my choice to come to that restaurant as it was my birthday but we definitely agreed it was a waste of birthday dinner and will not be returning. I spoke to the server and she saw the food left at the table and that we weren't going to stay to even have a birthday dessert (...and I always get dessert when I'm on vacation!) she gave our bill a discount which was helpful bc we still had to go get our little one a meal she would enjoy. If you want a great tasting meal for you and your family, go to Black Diamond, the service was amazing and friendly, they even walked us to our table. The signature ribs were delicious and they even brought out our dessert with a little candle celebrating our daughter's special day. If you have a cold you may enjoy this spot, but if you like flavour, I do not recommend you wasting a reso on this spot.

Not complaining about families, just not something you want to sit beside all the time when there's just two of you. Our server, Madison, was great - attentive, helpful and friendly. We tried the Korean Cauliflower, it was mostly crispy and tasty - recommended . The Patatas Bravas were good - basically a large bowl of roasted fingerling potatoes - they are best when mixed as the tomato sauce at bottom of dish. We tried the daily bread expecting delicious homemade crusty bread - it was corn bread and was ok tasting but lame for the price. None of the food we tried was bad but it wasn't excellent either - we'll be back to try some other menu items. The winner here is dessert and something I would recommend you go here for = the S'mores. They are great. Cook the homemade marshmallows at your table, yes I just said homemade marshmallows - this was the best marshmallow we have ever eaten. Kids love it, adults love it. Go here, you'll love it. It's ridiculous, messy and awesome. Enjoy!
