We came in for dinner with no expectation. Turns out this restaurant is better than any Greek restaurant at home. We were greeted with a wonderfully charming décore and the delightful server Hailey. We decided to try the seafood platter. The calamari was by far the best I've ever had including in Greece! It was so tender and flavorful I think I died. Really unsuspecting exterior, but as soon as you walk in...you get transported into a MEDITERRANEAN OASIS. Love the ambiance, decor, and Saturday night belly dancing performance! The food was great too! Amongst a group of us, we shared a sangria, seafood salata, and houmous. I enjoyed the rabbit LAGOS STIFATHO dish (heads up that it's bony but very flavourful and the meat was so tender). The LAMB SHOULDER OREGANO was also super tender and delicious. Incredibly delicious and high-quality Greek food at a very reasonable price, fantastic service, and with lovely ambiance. We were seated in a cute cozy corner nook and very much enjoyed the surrounding decor and the authentic Greek music. We shared Theo's platter and couldn't believe the amount of food. (My partner is gluten free so they let us sub in a side of calamari for the spanikopita.) Everything was just perfect, fresh Greek salad, delectable dolmades. tender lamb chop, grill-fired souvlaki, and oh my god the moussaka!! Even the lemon potato, rice, and vegetables were noteworthy, and the baklava is huge and heavenly. When back in Penticton we are definitely going to Theo's! In the mood for Greek/Mediterranean food? This is the spot! Courteous, attentive and friendly staff. Seated immediately in the outside garden. Ordered the Theo's salad, lamb souvlaki, baklava. Salad was delicious, as was the hummus and pita bread that comes with it (get the larger size; I was kicking myself for not). Lamb was perfect, and the rice, roasted potatoes, sautéed carrots sides were excellent. We ordered the seafood platter for two, which came with a Greek salad, baked Pacific Coast oysters, Salmos Sto Phyllo (wild salmon in phyllo pastry), black tiger prawns and kalamari. This place is easily top 3 in Penticton. It's consistently good. After the Theodosakis family sold Theo's there was a real chance of it tanking, and for Penticton to lose one of its best restaurants. Not so. Our server was excellent. The food was well timed and delicious. I've never had a bad meal here and I actually like that they've paired down the menu a bit. The restaurant is large for a small town, and the ambiance and decor varies from light filled atrium space to dark and cozy. read more

I will not recommended anything other than their Lamb Shoulder. Their Lamb Shoulder is just so, so delicious! Some of us ordered the beef souvlaki and it was just bland. Owner admitted that it was their fault because they did not have enough time to marinate their beef tenderloin. I was just reminded that their portions are just "enough". And commenting on their sides: the rice was dry and potatoes are too salty. Great service but food is just sub par. To owner, its sub par because it was not excellent for all the dishes that came out. We have our own opinion hence what this review platform is for. Stop replying on our reviews if you can't accept the fact. Stop being rude and condescending. I don't need your reply on my review because it is 100 percent accurate as per our experience. A few years back on a warm summer dusk, roses and mathiola on the gentle breeze, and we were walking downtown after a day of much driving scenery. And we were starved. It was 10:30pm and the owner and three friends were visiting around a table out front, and the place empty. We turned around to go out after noticing the 10pm closing time. He waved us back in and i don't remember what she had, but i had the best T-bone steak that I've ever had in the valley. We shared some yam fries, which was likewise the best ever. Crisp and tender, the steak and the fries. The big difference was that it was a quality cut of meat that hadn't been stripped of its juiciness and flavour, and of course having it arrive at the table sizzling. That was a beautiful day and a sweet evening. Only been back once since, still good. Might try that again this summer... read more

Wonderful place to get lost in for an hour or so... especially if you can find a little nook, like the porch, to tuck yourself, family, and friends away into... not really a bad seat in the house honestly... I can see the charm and why people call this a staple of Penticton. Our waitress was great, very enthusiastic, welcoming and friendly. However, our food was a little bit middle of the road. I think theres a lot of nostalgia here and can see the attraction... maybe it was an off night who knows... but we've had better calamari & ribs at a few other places in town. Fun restaurant with classic Greek food. We went late in the evening and it wasn't busy and we had great service.

If you ever walk into a Greek restaurant, you'd also know what it's like walking into a Greek's home. Spackled in layers of white stucco. Interior walls appear built by Ivo Shandor from Ghostbusters as they block out Wi-Fi the moment you turn a corner. They have wine cellars in the basement. Their front lawns are fenced in for some reason. There are fountains. And I love the fact that when you pass through the doors of a Greek home, you still find yourself inexplicably outside. So yes, Theos' is magnificently Greek. You pass through the main doors and see one dining area without a roof and green vines snaking through the structure like it's vital for support. Pushing further in, you find a stack of firewood topped with a saddle (for some reason) despite seeing neither a fireplace nor a horse. Past the bar sits another dining area and...wow...it looks like your outside again. There are more vines and an irregular stone floor like a road in Eastern Europe. Above, there's a balcony from the upper level. Above it all sits a translucent skylight...so, okay then, not technically outside, but it sure does paint an illusion. Upstairs offers the impression of entering an entirely new establishment. Weathered wooden floors and matching chairs. Every place setting already made. More hanging vines and bleached statues. Admittedly, it's a mess; one could get lost in a place like this. It's deceptively large with mismatched visual cues, almost as if four different people took one corner and didn't bother to consult anyone else. It's Greek. And I loved it. For one, with exception of the obvious inclusion of souvlaki, most everything on Theo's menu is offered without compromise or even translation. Oh sure, erudite gastronomes may recognize taramasalata or pita bread, saganaki or spanakopita, but even I popped the bubble-gum with fasoulatha, orekteka, yigantes, or daoloth, which are definitely not Cthulhu Elder gods...save for that last one; that was a test. The dishes are clearly authentic, probably handed down by first generation immigrants (if not, I'm fooled). I was so enamored with the selection that I opted for just appetizers on my first visit. Thankfully, Theos follows a beloved tradition of complimentary bread, this time with an amazing tapenade accompaniment. The menu is extensive with appetizing options just begging for larger group visits. The next year (only a few weeks ago), I returned with said entourage, and with more choices came reassurance that Theos must be one of the greatest traditional Greek restaurants this half of the country. If there's one claiming better, tell me now. I have tried the kotopita (sautéed chicken, feta, artichokes within a phyllo pastry), tiropita (feta and parmesan melted in a phyllo pastry), and the dako, the latter one of the strangesy Greek dishes ever ordered. Dako is a thick crusty chunk of bread soaked in red wine and garnished with garlic, tomato, feta cheese, and olive oil, which is finally topped with an oregano branch imported directly from the homeland. As part of the experience, one must peel and crush the herbs overtop. It was...interesting. The fact the bread is soggy was a bit of a shock, but the combination of toppings redeemed it. The service could be a tad more punctual. After an extended wait after finishing our meals, we had to stand and hunt down the server to settle the bill, and I didn't believe it was that busy to warrant the delay. That is a minor grievance. What else can be said about Theos...I want it in my hometown. Badly. Greek restaurants are almost entirely family-run operations. They inject as much tradition as they dare into their business, making their operations a reflection of their soul, in all its raw passion and unpredictability. However, that can also lead to burnout resulting in these restaurants not lasting past a single generation. Theos bucks that trend, going on forty years. All my local Prince George Greek restaurants have closed, the last holdover managing to survive 30 years in a depreciated economy. Now I must travel to Penticton, obviously not a torturous experience. Theos stands atop as being best Greek restaurant I have ever visited, a perch it's likely to keep for a very long time. I was visiting Penticton with a group of friends for a wedding. On the evening of arrival, we were looking for dinner options and one of my friends recommended Theo's due to great reviews. Turns out he was spot on. There were eight of us in total. Four of us decided to share an appetizer platter for two and the Theo's platter for two (under their dinner section). There was a good variety of different foods and large quantities of it! It had everything you would normally want when craving greek - lamb, dolmates, calamari, chicken liver (that was new for me, but really great flavor), spanakopita, moussaka and beef souvlaki. The others ordered either the rabbit or the lamb shoulder. Didn't try the rabbit, but the lamb was delicious. The restaurant itself is very spacious. Upon walking in, there is a small, shaded courtyard which was perfect for Penticton's hot summers. The restaurant has two levels, with plenty of room for seating. It is lit by candlelight, so it can be quite dark, but makes for a romantic atmosphere. As a greek food lover, this place lived up to expectations. Great atmosphere and food, stellar service and very reasonably priced wine options. I would definitely come here again next time I revisit Penticton. read more

I honestly don't know why there are so many good reviews for this place. The service was AWFUL. We were seated and completely ignored for at least 15 min until I finally asked someone walking by if we could be helped by whoever was supposed to serve us. She said "yes" and then offered us some water. Brought the water and walked away, I didn't see her go get anyone else to serve us, and about 10 min later our server finally showed up with "hi, what can I get you". No apology for making us wait. Server did literally nothing but bring our food and drinks. Never asked us once how the food was, never asked if we wanted another drink, and when it came time to pay, she fakely smiled and said thanks to the person at our table who paid, and she took off. Never once told us thank you for coming, have a good night... I would have even taken a courtesy "stay safe" at that point. I personally would have tipped her ZERO, but unfortunately I was with someone who is a softie and gave her 15%, which just condones this bad behaviour. I see the owner responds to all less than flattering reviews with scathing responses. I suggest the owner not take it so personally and really take a moment to reflect on all feedback. After all, neutral or bad reviews are the most valuable to business owners, as it provides an opportunity to review current business processes and make improvements. Edit: Just as I suspected the owner pipes up less than 24 hours after I write this review saying he checked on my table (nope, sorry have no idea who you are, nobody but the nice young girl giving us water and our terrible server came to our table). I don't need to use your wifi but that's so very generous of you to allow your patrons to use it - guess you can afford it by how much you're charging for your food. Your "community" is a one horse town in Penticton that literally no one visits unless they are forced to. Good luck with your business, you're going to need it. STAY SAFE! read more

I have been here numerous times when I ate everything. I am now eating vegan so called to see if those options were available and was assured that they provide "a number" of vegan options. To my surprise, when we arrived and ordered, our waitress returned and told us no vegan options of any kind remained. We were early for dinner so how could they be sold out of all vegan options. I had called about 39 minutes prior to arriving and was told they had "a number" of options leading me to make a reservation.
